jbern
Very interesting partnership. Sounds like MGS will be able to tap into their back-end of data. EasyPutter
I'm interested to see how this On-Course Data Partnership works because I currently use SwingU App for tracking shots and pay the annual Looper subscription. I have two questions that come to mind when reading the article: does this partnership extend beyond MGS HQ to MGS Forum? as a selected tester for something that involves distance measurements, (if Shot Scope partnership does extend to MGS Forum) how does this Shot Scope partnership support the forum tester evaluating a product? We tested Shot Scope this past year, the exact model shown in the original Thread post top of the page, and that was a great product test in itself. A partnership with Shot Scope will provide reliable distance measurements and my hope is Shot Scope will be an integral partner with Forum testing as much as HQ testing. Thanks for helping with understanding what is meant by "official on-course data partner." Signed, Confused "Future Forum Tester" (I hope) p.s. Thanks for helping with understanding what is meant by "official on-course data partner." Here is my thought on the answers to you questions: 1. I don’t see shotscope being used with HQ most wanted testing. That testing is about hitting clubs in a controlled environment and reporting on how the club performs. 2. If you have noticed, MGS is doing more reporting than just clubs/equipment and their performance. In the past, They have posted articles from shot scope about how different handicaps or specific golfers perform on the course. With the partnership, I expect to see more deep dives into how golfers perform and managing expectations since shotscope can provide millions of data points. I liken it to what Lou Stagner does with Arccos data. 3. there may be some club assessments since players are supposed to identify what clubs they have in their bags when setup up shot scope. The question is accuracy f that data. I started with a Golf Buddy then, after joining the forum in 2018, I bought @Thin2win (Chris's) V2 watch as he had just upgraded to the newer version. It worked really well until I got soaked in a downpour and water got inside. I have since upgraded to the G3 and it's been stellar. I only used the RFID tags on the V2 for a short time and decided I didn't need the data, so the G3 is perfect. And, yes, the sub-forum has been real helpful answering user questions. I think it's cool that SS has decided to become MGS's "official" partner. They make super good products and their support has been nothing short of fantastic. I have a Samsung watch & used the Arccos app during my brief fling before coming to my senses & back to ShotScope. Your watch will show you F/M/B of green yardages, but that's about it. You will lose the ability to tag anything; thus, no shot data. The ShotScope X5 is very similar in size/style to a Samsung Gear watch - round with 2 buttons on the right-hand side of the face (bezel does not rotate as the Samsung's does) . The X5 is very light & unobtrusive while playing. Some right-handed users cited issues of buttons getting pressed by their golf glove, but ShotScope can lock-out unwanted presses/swipes. The best part of SS, in my opinion, is I don't have to look at my phone while playing - everything can be done through the 'watch'. HOWEVER....ShotScope added hole-flyovers this past season which helps playing unfamiliar courses. The addition of My Strategy for this season allows for your own "Caddie Notes" to be added for each hole before playing a round. I really look-forward to using this feature as I am a new member at The Legends GC & am able to remind myself of aimpoints for drives, what club to use to carry/be short of bunkers, etc. Edited January 24 by CudaKota66 Rob Person, cnosil, Padavich09 and 1 other 4 Quote Epic Flash King F8 3W Epic Flash Max 7W G425 4i-PW CBX2 50/54/58 Inovai 6.0 Tour Response or Triad (both thanks to MGS testing)
unccross
Thanks everyone I think I’m going to go with the h4 for tagging and shot tracking. Padavich09
I absolutly love this colab. I am a huge fan of ShotScope. I currently use the H4 (should've held out for a few more months since the X5 came out not long after i bought the H4) for my rounds. I love all the data it gives me, I am a numbers guy.
