Come Sunday I decided to go play by myself just a quick 9 and out... Well we ended up with a 54(not hateful but I'm better than that) and still 3hrs of golf. Was still using ProV's jsut because I had em so why not but I believe they hurt me alot just dont think I can use the ball as an excuse for the score. UPDATE!!!!.... I know its SIM play but I think I can try the Bushnell Launch Pro Launch Monitor. I usually shoot 85-94 on sim vs 93-99 on course but it hurts my head to think it was this different over the weekend and have been racking my brain with what I was doing wrong(again not using the Pro V's as an excuse even tho I used my normal Titleist TruFeel here haha) Now pace of play is much quicker on a SIM and I know having a rhythm will affect play. Short warm up same as I would usually do at the course with a few chips and distance wedge shots then into a 7i, 3 hybrid, & driver... I took a few screen shots of data points with Driver to show the usual during a SIM round and these were all hole after hole. Nothing changed after this shot/data wise. This was good/bad results with a normal swing everytime. Now onto the scorecards... These rounds were what I consider very normal for me on the SIM. Bide-A-Wee is a local course I've never actually played but is very open so not a ton of trouble unless you are way off the fairway(Yes I can do that to haha). Pinehurst 2(for those that don't know) is a Carolina course lined with pine tree so tons of soft spots and trouble that can ruin your day quickly haha. Historically Tighter courses are tough for me off the Tee Bide-A-Wee: 18 holes - Total score was an 85. Putting: 34 - Set to AUTO but average real life is 17.8/35.6 Fairways: 33% - Average for real life data 24.44% (Honestly never cared for this statistic because sometimes you can get a better shot not from the fairway) GIR: 33% - Average for real life data is 21.6% HCP: Real life is a 22.5 Mulligan: Used because I bumped the ball off the Tee and the BLP picked it up as a Tee shot haha Notes: In this round I even tried to take some breaks between shots and holes just to simulate time passing and not consistently swinging back to back Pinehurst #2: Front 9 holes - Total score was an 48. Putting: 20 - Set to AUTO but average real life is 17.8/35.6 Fairways: 71% - Average for real life data 24.44% (Honestly never cared for this statistic because sometimes you can get a better shot not from the fairway) GIR: 11% - Average for real life data is 21.6% HCP: Real life is a 22.5 Mulligan: None needed Notes: No breaks in this round but some of the lies got me good with club selection with the random sand/pine needles Pinehurst 2 has but part of it. cksurfdude, William P, ILMgolfnut and 4 others 7 Quote DRIVER Paradym Ai SMOKE MAX D w/ Mitsubishi Tensei Blue 65-R 10.5* WOOD STEALTH 2 Plus 15* w/ Mitsubishi Kali Red 65-R 42" 15* HYBRID Big Bertha 19 w/ UST Recoil DART 75-S 20* IRONS TS3 Forged 4i-PW w/ True Temper Score LT 100-R WEDGES Glide Forged Pro w/ ZZ115-W 48-10*/53-10*/58-10/58-6* PUTTER HB SOFT 8 w/ Center Shaft 3* Check out my Tests... cksurfdude
Played 9 this afternoon with a friend. Typical up and down round - some good, some uhh not so good... Good: tee shots were all playable; hit a few approaches; only lost one ball (had a lotta trouble the other day with sun glare and leaves) on a miss hit / splash on a Par 3 Not so good: bunkers; greenside rough; green reading Swapped putters and put the ER5 back in play; think it helped with distance control (ie not rolling the ball 20 feet past!). Swapped in the old Bertha Mini (oversized head 3W; took out the 3h) for a few of the tee shots .. this course has a lot of doglegs where even my very modest drives can run through .. used it (for the first time in a few years) on #9 and hit it just right! Then, strangely enough, hit the approach really well and ball was pin high (back center pin) about 25 ft right. Then .. yep .. three putted... sp0rtsfan86
I have played a few times, including the club championship in horrendous conditions and a few weekend rounds. Sunday was an ugly, ugly 96 with a lot of errors, mainly short game. I've been playing draw off the tee and then switching to a fade with the irons, but may just go back to stock draws with both. On the plus side, I did manage a fairly routine birdie which is the first time in a few rounds I had one. I have two rounds planned this weekend but it's becoming weather dependent here in Ohio. That’s Mr. Dirt
I didn’t. I’m in Florida and I would feel pretty bad golfing while others are digging out from the hurricanes. Also, I wouldn’t want to stress the course staff, who are scrambling to get the facilities back on line. It’s just my personal take. I can wait for however long it takes to get things back to being game ready status. It will give me extra time to do other things like work on my putting stroke, physical condition and getting my hurricane bug out kit down to a manageable size. Did I really need to bring 15 pairs of socks and only 2 tee shirts? William P, cksurfdude, Rob Person and 2 others
ILMgolfnut
Got out for the first time in a while this morning, on a course I'd never seen before, and I was spraying it all over the place in my last range session. Not an encouraging combination. And the course is tight and tree-lined. I'm thinking this could be really bad... Then I step up to the first tee and stripe a little baby draw down the middle! Flew my approach over the green and bogeyed. Another fairway hit on 2! And 3, with a GIR and a par! Then hit the green on the par 3 4th, another par! Another FH on 5, and 6, with a par on 6! Hit the green on 7! Then finally started missing fairways (walking on a very hilly course) and called it a day after 9. But even with two 3-jacks, spraying it around on 9 and horribly misclubbing my approach on 1, I shot 43. Which for me is GREAT! Syks7
41/41 82 (Net Double makes it an 81...) Went out for the first time in a couple weeks and had a rough start. Hit my tee shot off the heel just past the front tees, hit a decent recovery, shanked the third shot, got onto the green for the 4th and promptly 3 putted for triple. The other bad hole was a silly double on the 11th. Decent day undone by two holes --5 strokes in two holes is hard to come back from. Otherwise it was a solid day on the other 16 holes. Had a lot of birdie looks, and always had a par putt If I'd been a bit more accurate with the flat stick I'd have ended up with a solid score in the high 70s. Such is golf. It was a great day and it was nice to be swinging a club instead of breathing construction dust and swinging a sledgehammer. Rob Person Posted yesterday at 12:50 AM Share Posted yesterday at 12:50 AM As I'm sure some of you have, I also had a day where I questioned why I even bothered to play today. After golf duties another employee asked if i felt like hitting the course. We were originally planned on 9, but went for 18 instead. Want the Ending first? Sure, why not! I Shot a 45/51 Continue reading if you wish.... I have not scored over 89 in months, and most rounds have been in the mid or low 80s. First 6 holes were decent, great fairway finding tee shots, a couple of GIR, 1 birdie, 3 pars, 2 bogies. Then it all fell apart from there. From #7 hole and on, I was destitute. Not 1 fairway off the box, my approaches were hitting bunkers, I was shorting or flying greens. The only saving grace was my putting, and had only one 3 putt. Several 1 putts and 2 putts. The roughest part was getting out of, well..... the rough! I either chunked the ball or was topping it. Didn't matter which hybrid or iron i used. I couldn't move the ball from the thick stuff. Also hit water on both par 3s. That really hurt! So as I sit here, devastated by my own sabotage, I'm already planning when to play again But tomorrow, i think a 300 ball range session is in order ! This was the only picture I took. Coming up the last hole. What should have been my 3rd shot on a par 5, not my 5th! cksurfdude, Josh Parker, William P and 6 others 9 Quote WITB- Driver -Titleist 910D, 3w- Titleist 910F, 5hy/7hy- Titleist 910H, 6-PW - Stix , 52⁰, 56⁰, 60⁰ - Stix , Putter- AI-ONE DB / Lombardi Tour 34 custom Just an old newbie golfer, trying to learn and improve 1 club at a time. JAYER38
Played in a tournament yesterday hoping for a redemption round after my last outing that I felt embarrassed about! Went pretty quick at 3.5hrs to finish and finally got to play Bide-A-Wee in real life. They had new green so fuzzy but played good. Course itself was just like the SIM shows it. To me this course played tight where aim and distance control kept you out of trouble(hence my penalties) haha Notes: I would say this was back to my normal. Major ball curvature was non existent, just had my normal block right miss or aimed wrong so that's on me and a known issue... Pace of play was nice for a change but guess thats to be expect Score: 95 (49/46) Miss of the Tee was big on the Front 9 and tough to play Fairways: 4 (3/1) I don't tend to use this stat much but think I will start recording it differently... Playable shot or Not-noting where the miss was GIR: 1 (1-0) Have to work on dialing in the correct distance to add these up and help myself. Putts: 31 (16/15) Better than expect but average real life is 17.8/35.6. I did give up some 7-8fters leaving them just short which I do alot. Penalties: 2: (1/1) Short on a par 3 as I didn't pay attention to the wind so water ball & mishit on the second shot of the par 5 into the water Rob Person, cksurfdude, MattF and 3 others 6 Quote DRIVER Paradym Ai SMOKE MAX D w/ Mitsubishi Tensei Blue 65-R 10.5* WOOD STEALTH 2 Plus 15* w/ Mitsubishi Kali Red 65-R 42" 15* HYBRID Big Bertha 19 w/ UST Recoil DART 75-S 20* IRONS TS3 Forged 4i-PW w/ True Temper Score LT 100-R WEDGES Glide Forged Pro w/ ZZ115-W 48-10*/53-10*/58-10/58-6* PUTTER HB SOFT 8 w/ Center Shaft 3* Check out my Tests... rkj427
Played late this morning, and although it was high 40's when we started, it warmed up to lower 60's throughout the round. Plenty of sun made it feel warmer than it actually was. Picture perfect weather with the sun, only a light wind, and the colors have really taken off here due to recent wet and cold weather. A lot of leaves on the ground, made finding balls challenging at times, and I switched to a yellow ball towards the end due to that fact. Syks7
Made so much progress on construction today (removed the roof) that I hit the Par 3 on the way home. Turns out that when your arms are tired from construction it forces you to make a good turn. Very good striking day. Finished under par for 9 holes the second time ever at -1. 3 birds (one a chip in), 4 pars, and 2 bogeys. Good times. Last... One of the many reasons I love the ZX7's is this view walking back to the bag. Shankopotomous
I played in a two day tournament this week and had a disappointing middle of the pack finish. It was disappointing because I was in such good position after my drives that I should have scored much better than I did. I struggled a bit with my iron play and didn't get up and down nearly enough to save par. The extra practice on the putting green paid off I was very happy with my putting over the two days. I had two short misses that I'd like to have back but over two days that isn't too bad and most of the other putts were on my line and the speed was on target. Other than par 3's my tee shots were about as good as they could have been. I had good distance, trading long drive honors with the other players in the group from hole to hole. A consistent high draw was in the fairway all day putting me in great position for the approach shots....which were a completely different story. Oh well, it was a fun experience even if the scoring, a 79 the first day and an 82 the second day, was disappointing. One side note, I was using a Snell MTB Prime X from the 5 dozen I had bought last winter before they moved production. The other players in my groups both days all were using ProV's and the Snell had the distance to match them. I know the 2.0 had a recent bad test result and now they have a 3.0 on sale. Hopefully they are back on track and the newest version matches the quality of the earlier versions. William P
14 hours ago, GolfSpy_APH said: Had what may have been my best round of the year today shooting 76 in wet conditions at my home course. I was playing the one ups which does make things easier, but given the conditions of the course and how wet it is the course plays the same length as it did from the back tees in summer. Only had 1 birdie on a chip in, but just a solid round and happy it turned out how it did. Great round Jamie! Had 2 natural birdies which really were the highlight of my day, as iron shots are really getting dialed in, just sad that the end of the season here is no more than a month out.
