Jmikecpa
Played nine this morning before work and should have just stayed in bed. Not one club in the bag worked at all and I think I made half a good swing all day. The intent was to play 18 and just could not fathom another 9 holes with the rubbish swing that I had going. Kenny B
I have been home from my parents house since last Sunday night, and my wife and I have played 9 holes every night after work this week. The first couple of days I hit the driver OK, but second shots sucked, and chipping was terrible. That's a typical result of a long layoff from from golf for me. Never made a birdie until last night! On Wednesday we played with the pro and two other guys. My wife made two birdies that night. She has been playing most every day after work for the past 3 weeks while I was gone. She plays 9 holes in a cart by herself in 53 minutes! Her game has really improved lately, and she is even using a putting tip I gave her. I guess she was listening! fozcycle and wbealsd 2 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
Kor.A.Door
Went out and played with one of good friends for my birthday this morning, I have been playing so much competitive golf lately that I have been really grinding and struggling with the game, up and down. Today was just a round to get out a play, we didn't keep score, we just played no pressure, I didn't matter if you missed a putt, or hit a ball in the woods, it was very therapeutic to play that way. It was kind of refreshing, makes me want to go play some more. wbealsd 1 Quote Lefties are always in their Right Mind

wbealsd
Just getting a chance to catch up after close to two weeks of no play (traveling and LOTS of rain since I've been back). Other than hitting a couple of buckets, I haven't been swinging at all. I did get a change to hit the range for a bucket this afternoon and I will say, the High Heat driver continues to impress. It looks like we may have decent weather thi weekend, so I'm hoping to get back on a course soon! Jmikecpa
Got out last night at my buddies club and played 14 holes with my buddy and the Asst. Pro. After the disaster that was the morning 9 I was not sure what to expect. The pro was actually a lot of help by asking a simple question on my alignment. Seems my feet and my shoulders were off a bit off causing my inconsistency that I have been getting. Also went back to my Adams MB2s and all I can say is hello old friend. Hit it well, putted well and shot 32 on the front 9 thanks to two birds and an eagle. Even through the five holes I played on the back but overall hit the ball a hell of a lot better. apprenti23 and mizuno_lover 2 Quote WITB 2024 Driver: Qi10 LS 9* Ltd. revkev
Alright it was the tale of two 18's for me for sure but there were reasons for that as you'll see and my heart rate stayed down the entire time so overall it was great. Shot 74 in the first round yesterday and we had one other guy in our group click. Ah but the second round was a tough day deal, that's where the move the top flight back to the tips and have all the pins tucked on ridges and corners oh my. Well we should 18 under as a team which put us tied for first and of course in the championship flight. So with all seniors (golfing wise) in the group we were treated to playing the Bayou club at over 7,000 yards long in the late August after we've had 30 inches of rain the past two months. It wasn't so bad for my one friend who was getting 26 strokes because most par 4's are par 5's for him any way. His 92 was huge for us. It wasn't so bad for Scott who played in the US Amateur and used to have a +2 because he still can move it a bit and was able to reach or get close to most of the par 4's. For my friend Bob and I it was a nightmare. We went from 74 and 78 yesterday to a pair of 87's from the tips. The good news is that Scott shot in the low 70's and Bob and I each threw in a hole or two when needed. We shot 12 under as a team and won the entire thing for a bunch of pro-shop credit and some shirts and stuff. The funny thing was that the tips weren't on the tips on one hole. They moved the tees way up on 11 to give guys a crack at driving the green. It's a medium length par 4 normally. This move made for a great hole - 245 yard par 4 - subtract 20 from what you normally hit it because the ball is going nowhere right now - nowhere. Dennis hit just short of the green, Bob and I hit it in the water just short/left and Scott gets up and drills it on a line, one hop and hits the pin flush - clang, kicks off straight left, into the water. Dennis got up and down for birdie, net eagle, I dropped, pitched it to a foot and tapped in for par. Fun two days, great party last night with a wine tasting and to die for food and a nice win even if I didn't play well today. It beats being in the ICU which is where I was two weeks ago. Can't wait to get into the rhythm of playing in the men's group every Friday morning. That will get my game back in order in a hurry. Undershooter
PRODUCTIVE day of golf for myself. First I shoot 58 in the club championship. (Don't wet your pants, it only a par 64). 8 birds and 2 bogeys for a 6 under finish. Even the best player in the club who is around a +3 or +4 said he didn't see a 58 out there today with the wind. Next I go play Wolfe at another course with said best player at the club, 1 other really good player and 2 low single handicaps. I take their money and have a great time. Today was a good day. westy
Yesterday saw me filling my boots with a morning comp at my home course, 78 whacks (38 putts.... 3 lip outs did the full 180 back to me, after the second you just have to laugh). But super steady long game day which was nice. The afternoon was at a course 6 miles away for their once a year comp off the tips at 7650 yards. Aside from losing a ball that'd become an old friend ( it was 49 holes old when I dumped into a pond) and an aberration off the 16th tee I was pleased with an 88. Given the rating of the course that was actually playing to my handicap! Played with the winner, lad off +2 who shot 76 (with a 7 at the last!). evershady
I played great today. Broke 80 for the first time ever on a tight course I've never played before. Shot a 40 on the front started with a double bogey was way way left after slipping on my second shot tried to go over the trees little too far caught the cart path. and went out. After that pretty smooth sailing till the crazy 12 hole that was a 300 yard par 4 dogleg left with trees surrounding bunker tried to play smart lay to around a hundred hit a 6I caught the trees above tee box little ridiculous if you ask me. Double there too Finished back with a 39 for 79. 28 putts and great for me since I average 36 37 around. quick greens too. Only 1 birdie but really consistent. Jmikecpa
Had a charity scramble today and actually hit it well. The course was in nice shape and not a bad layout, although a bit short for my liking. We played it a bit over 6,200 yards and it was just a shame since there were some great tee boxes that they did not use. #18 from the back box was a beautiful hole that they completely changed by using an alternate box. Started the day on a drivable par 4 playing slightly uphill to a two tiered green. Driver to three feet for eagle and off to the races we went. Hot putters in the group the entire day and ran away with the event with -15 55. I skipped the dinner but all three guys in my group won TVs of varying sizes. jaxbeachpackerfan
I'm starting to see a pattern here. I've been trying to incorporate some pretty significant swing changes from my GolfTec lessons. I'm very encouraged, hitting a lot of quality shots that were done the right way--e.g., doing what the pro wants me to do. However, certainly not grooved, especially with the driver. So last three rounds, including today. Awful problems getting off the tee on the front nine, hitting very thin, topping heavily. Not anything I ever do with any regularity, so somewhat clueless as how to fix it mid round. So, last three front nines have been replete with double and some triple bogies, 52, 51 and 50. Somewhere in the back nine, I get it straightened out, hit some good drives, pretty good distance. Week ago, last 5 holes, one under par, 41 for the nine. Last Friday, last 5 holes, one over par, 42 for the nine. Today, two over par for 10-15, ended up with 42. Consistently inconsistent, I guess. Playing the Stadium Thursday in the Junior Players Championship Pro-Am. One of the top juniors in the country will be our "pro" for the event. mizuno_lover
Played in the 3rd round of my Wednesday club Match Play Championship and had to give ten shots to my opponent. I was playing probably my last round with my MP 54's and I hit them so well it had me wondering if I made the right decision buying the Pings. It's only one round though so what the hell. Finished all square in the match, managed to halve the eighteenth where he had a shot and made him sweat over a down hill right to lefter of about 3 and a half feet for the half. Squeezer managed to sink it though. There was some serious behind the scenes ninja hexes going on but alas to no avail. A one up win would have made me quite happy. To give him his due he punched well above his weight today and had me making pars and still losing holes where he had a shot. With concessions he shot a net 70 and I shot a 72. kfilly20
Played The Old Course at St. Andrews. Shot an 87 but should have been better if I would have known that the lie wouldn't affect the distance of the club. Hit a few out of the sand that went way way over the green. Did I mention this was at a simulator place by my work during my lunch break? jaxbeachpackerfan
What a day! Played in the AJGA Junior Players championship Pro Am on the Stadium today. One of the top 2 or 3 tournaments for juniors in the country. Our "Pro" was 16 Joseph Chun out of Irving California. Great guy. Format was a "shamble". Choose best drive of the group and then play your own ball the rest of the way. The Juniors played their own ball all the way through, though we could use their drives. The juniors had to play from the tips. Even though we played the "blues" (about 6,700 yds), on several holes he had to hit considerably further than us. 50% of course handicap was used. We had one guy in our foursome who was a four HC and could just pound his driver (at least by the standards of us 50-60 year olds), so we often used his drive and had reasonable shots to the greens. I had one of my best iron striking days in years today, hit two thirds of the greens and had three natural birdies. Rest of our group did real good as well, and we ended up 16 under par and won the event! Got a crystal vase AND a brand new R-15 Driver fresh out of the Tour Van (which was there for the event), plus a certificate for a free round on the Stadium. I was able to walk down to the Van and they swapped out heads for me, replacing a 12 degree with a 10.5 degree (my current Rocketballz is a 9.5). Quite a haul, probably tripled the entry fee with the prizes and the stuff in the swag bag. Plus, really, really pleased with the progress from my lessons. mizuno_lover, Kenny B, jbil8802 and 2 others 5 Quote Nonchalant putts count the same as chalant putts. In my Ogio Ozone XX Cart Stand Bag:Ping G400 10.5 Deg Driver, stock Stiff shaftTM Rocketballz 19 Deg 5 Wood, stock Matrix Osik Stiff shaftTM Rocketballz Stage 2 21 Deg Tour 4 Hybrid, Rocketfuel 80h Stiff shaft Callaway Apex CF 16 Irons, 4-P, Stiff Shafts Scor 48 and 55 degree wedges.
