New Level 480 Irons - 2024 Forum Review

Recommended Posts

K not surprisingly I read thru a lotta user reviews on this site, and even less surprising is me constantly saying to myself "oohhh I wanna try that!" 😄

So yeah a demo-that-you-pay-to-keep 480db 7i with a Recoil 760 ES SmacWrap is on the way here!

FYI last year I'd tried several different GI irons including the NL gi22 and for me (and the way I was swinging at the time) it didn't do anything for me; felt kinda dull and performance .. again, for me .. was near the bottom of the pile.

I’m shocked you didn’t try New Level out after our Nebraska outing. I was crushing the New Level irons, horrible with the driver…remember? 😂 😂 😂

I could play golf every day and learn something new each time.

It's been a few days since I've been on the forum with how busy I've been at work. I hope on this thread and see everyone wanting to demo the clubs and getting their hands on them. I absolutely love that we are able to provide insight on these clubs and spread the message with the community. I can't wait to see what everyone thinks about them!

I took the pitching wedge out yesterday for some chipping/pitching practice.  To this point, the pitching wedge is the one club in the set I have yet to get a feel for, at least around the greens.  I like to use a pitching wedge around the green when I want to get the ball on the ground and have it run to the hole.

My problem with the 480DB pitching wedge is how quickly it checks up.  It's not actually a problem with club as much as it is something for which I need to adjust.  Being the slow learner that I am, it took me time to adjust but once I started carrying the ball I did much better.

Rain...rain...rain...today and tomorrow, but it should clear Tuesday for some more vacation golf.

You all are reminding me that I need to get some new photos of these clubs posted.  @ClarkWGriswoldIII's last post has some beautiful shots, battle worn as they are.  I was afraid to show my scars, but I think these clubs hold up with their action history in full view.

I don’t have experience with latest clubs. My swing is still a joke. From what you say on long irons 4-5. Do you suspect NL has their act together on the U2 and U3?

It's hard to say, but I know that historically I have loved long irons but in recent years haven't been happy with any that I've tried. This 4 iron has little offset, a thinner topline, and feels as easy to hit as a game improvement club.

New Level should give a masterclass on how to make long irons, these are so good and nothing else I've tried is even close.

I found a sleeve of the Maxfli Tour X I used to game before needing less spin. I'm going to put them into play tomorrow next to the Maxfli Tour and see if I get any noticeable improvements.

Does anybody that's following along have any questions?

Sorry again guys, we've got a stomach bug in our house that we can't seem to kick. My entire baseball team had it, now I had it again for the second time in two weeks and just started feeling decent in the last few hours. Going out tomorrow for sure to get those updates and more on course pictures!

Got out for two holes before lightning chased us off. I hit a total of one iron shot in those holes and it was a smooth 9 iron on a par 3 that ended up about about six feet from the hole. I made the putt and shot a nice -1 for the day, haha. Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures in that stretch but I'm back out Wednesday and the weather looks perfect!

Something I haven't commented on is the overall feel of the club in my hands. From the moment I first unboxed them, there was something confidence inspiring about them and the swing weight when taking practice swings just feels like a perfect match for me. I think that plays a big role in why I've taken a liking to them so quickly.

Great!  On my second round of Pawleys Island vacation golf today I hit a 9-iron over water to a tight pin to about 5 feet and made the putt for a 2.  I did get a photo (below).

I'm finally adjusting to playing at sea level.  I hit some very solid iron shots today, especially early.  Given the backspin I am getting on these irons I can feel comfortable hitting the ball to the hole and in hitting the longer club when I am between clubs knowing that the shot will stop quickly.
