JDM Driver

superduper

Recommended Posts

I'm in the market for a new driver for the next season.  In search for a JDM driver with the highest ball speed off the face.    Forgiveness doesn't matter anymore.

I prefer a small headed driver with 440cc or less volume.   Give me some brand/models.

Thx.

Since COR has been maxed out there doesn't really exist a driver with a hotter face than any other as long as it is conforming.  It just can't happen.

What you can play with is aerodynamics, center of gravity, weight etc.  Since all those thing vary from club to club there really isn't any way to say driver X will have the highest ball speed for your swing.  The only way to truly find out would be hit everything and see what works best.  In other words you should go get fit to determine what's best for your game.

The Most Wanted testing would be a great place to start when choosing some clubs to test out if you don't want to go the fitting route.

Just curiosity on my part, but why are you limiting yourself to JDM clubs?  There are some pretty damn intriguing 2016 models that have just been released or are coming soon to the US market.  Thinking of the Cobra King LTD Pro, Taylormade M1 430, Cally Big Bertha DBD just to name a few.

Best of luck on your search!

Driver: :taylormade-small: SLDR w/ Fujikura Ventus Black

5w: :cleveland-small: Launcher HB w/ HZRDUS Yellow

Hybrid: :cleveland-small: 22 deg. Launcher HB w/ HZRDUS Black

Irons: :cleveland-small: 5i - gap Launcher CBX w/ Nippon Modus 3 125

Wedges: :cleveland-small: 54 CBX & 58 Zipcore w/ Nippon Modus 3 125

Putter: :odyssey-small: Red 7s

If you're going JDM, go Honma Beres, the gold edition, they're only like $15k.

On a serious note, if you're sticking to JDM heads, I'd look at the Mizuno Craft, the Jbeam 435 blackout, and the SYard T 388

In The Bag
Driver: TaylorMade M2 (2017) w/ Project X T1100 HZRDUS Handcrafted 65x
Strong 3 wood: Taylormade M1 15* w/ ProjectX T1100 HZRDUS handcrafted 75x
3 Hybrid: Adams PRO 18* w/ KBS Tour Hybrid S flex tipped 1/2"
4 Hybrid: Adams PRO 20* (bent to 21*) w/ KBS Tour Hybrid S flex tipped 1/2"
4-AW: TaylorMade P770 w/ Dynamic Gold Tour Issue Black Onyx S400

SW: 56* Scratch Tour Dept(CC grooves) w/ Dynamic Gold Spinner
LW: 60* Scratch Tour Department (CC grooves) w/ Dynamic Gold Spinner
XW: 64* Cally XForged Vintage w/ DG X100 8 iron tiger stepped
Putter: Nike Method Prototype 006 at 34"

Have a ton of back-ups in all categories, but there are always 14 clubs in the bag that differ depending on the course and set-up. Bomb and gouge. Yes, I'm a club gigolo.

Is Miura on the same level with Honma?  Do people with money like Miura?  just wondering...

Go to the Tour Spec forum, check out the pro shop, and if the prices don't turn you off, you'll find plenty of choices.

The oversized titanium driver is not part of my game--I don't like needing a special swing on the tee--I don't like teeing the ball high and playing it left of my left heel--so I'm clearly not the expert here.  But Tour Spec has tons of drivers that may interest you. Use a credit card with a high line.

As for Miura, they're better known for their irons.

I've had the Precious Edition driver.   Wasn't anything special to me. Some people love them, I hated it.  Seems to be the consensus on that head too, love or hate.

If you're buying, don't go to Tour Spec.  They rape you on pricing.  You can get them much cheaper through Rakuten Japan's site.
