Hah I used that on Monte Scheinblum at one of his clinics recently - I'm definitely a slow golf learner and he's like, "Haven't you been listening to everything?" to which I quickly responded: "Listening, yes .. it's the *remembering* part I'm having trouble with!"

Just saw this I know late again as usual----- I had a couple a few years back that came from all places Hurricane WVA. My business partner in the trucking business was from there and he bought a pallet full of them for like $25. He gave me a couple. I had a small sandblaster at the time and blasted them and restored them for something to do. I had a big sale and sold them to some interior decorater for $100 each.

    How'd you play?

Morning game was rained out, but I did join a couple of guys to play 9 later. They played the tees forward of my usual tees, so since it was just the 3 of us, those are the tees that I played. The difference between the tees that I play and the ones just behind me aren't that great, but the next set forward is obvious. There are several holes that require me to use a long hybrid or more from my tees....today, I was hitting short irons into the greens. Still managed to screw up a hole when I hit a hosel rocket with my wedge. Shot 38 for the 9. I'll be staying on my usual tees for the foreseeable future as I think it's the best fit for me at this point.

    How'd you play?

Oh, and i learned to listed to @chisag. should have taken one more club, hit the ball online but 1 yard too short and hit it into the water on hole 9, par 3 on my course. I actually made a good strike, but the weather was very different than last week so irons weren't carrying as far. i made sure to adjust after that.

    How'd you play?

Played a new course today, Camillus Golf Club. It was hilly with fast slopping greens. I started par, bogey. It was down hill from there. Lots of uneven lies but I enjoyed the course. On the plus side, I hit my 3 wood really well.

    How'd you play?

Played Bent Brook again today, shot 41/39 for an 80. Very happy with my game right now, driving and approaching much better than in the past. Only hit 6 greens but missed a few more just off the fringe. Had zero birdies, had 3 burn the edge and 1 literally do a 360 out of the cup. Shot of the day on 18 I hit a drive on a par 4 right at 370 yards. Thought it went in the water well before that, was about to drop then I see it about 25 yards from the green. Not sure how it hit it so far, must have gotten cart path then perfect roll out. Missed the 8 foot birdie putt though

    How'd you play?

My weekly men's club event was set up as a Scramble today, so score wasn't really relevant. But I did hit 12/14 fairways, and 13/18 greens. It was WET on the course today... so all carry, no roll in the fairways... but was averaging ~240 which is pretty good for me - especially with limited roll out. Oh, I do miss the dry hard fairways of the hot summer months... my driving stats looked so much better!! haha. But we need the water on the course, so I'm not complaining. I have a Sunday game tomorrow if I'm not rained out... hoping my driver and approach shots have a long memory from today's round.

  13. Haven't bought anything in a while so had to scratch the itch... Cobra RadSpeed Big Tour 3 wood is on the way from Global Golf. I've had enough of the Super Hybrid. A lot of inconsistency which I think stems from me playing it too much like a fairway wood. It's been hook city lately. And the RadSpeed comes with a Motore X F1 7X shaft, which I know I get along with well.

  14. 50 on the front nine of Forest hills. Had 18 putts but that was with a 3 and a 4 putt. 3 pars. Some on course decisions were bad. Tried to play a few punchy hooks that didn’t work. Short game was still poor on SG. Mainly with my 54 chipping. My chips with the 58 both times were within 3 feet. I did spend 25 mins before round putting and chipping. Then did some after the round and got some better feel with the 54. I feel this should kick in soon if I can get a little more practice. Could have had a 4th par if I didn’t tip a 54ft putt (sometimes happens heads up putting). Also my driver wasn’t really their albeit SG saying it was still +4 to a 20 handicap. Had multiple that hit trees or hooked. Only really hit three solid drives all day and they were beautiful. Sadly a shanked 8i ruined one but that golf and that happens. Also need some work with my 4w from the turf. Probably no golf until the 17th of the month. Then nasal surgery on the 22 to fix my deviated septum. Then on to full off-season work and practice rounds. Finally my last drive left me in a precarious spot.

  17. Had a really good session at the range yesterday. Went through a quickish warm up and then did 4 programs on Top Tracer. I know it isn't a perfect system, but it at least allows me to go through and feel like I'm working towards something. I am struggling a bit with the new irons. There are sessions where I'm making really good contact and others where well its everything off the toe and more toe and more toe strikes. I'm kinda caught in between to main swing feels and I need to either get a lesson or take some video and figure out which one I want to go to and stick with. The programs I ran were one 30 shot strokes gained challenge. It has X amount of drives, longer approach shots, short approach shots and more. I really like this as it is more similar to playing a real round. The second program was a driving challenge. Put simply my distance gains me strokes my accuracy sucks the big one. Finally I ran 2 approach shot sessions which are closest to. Overall was pretty happy and I feel like I'm getting a really good idea for my distances.

Yep you are correct--- As of a few weeks ago for the fall semester our local community college is offering fully accrediated firefighter and paramedic courses. Our county is a big county and those trained folks are desperately needed with our booming population. In fact the county was behind it. In fact they started an intern program. I think after like 9 weeks they can take basic Firefighting and go full time as a rookie on one of the county departments and earn credits for full time employment and career. On the medical end I am not sure. But I do know after a certain amount of training hours they also serve an internship.

  19. I m going to include you in on all future clubs o offer for sale on the Classifieds.. What got me more was he commented to me a couple holes later. After a poor drive. “A 6.0 flex is too stiff for you. It’s hurting your distance and accuracy”. I told him actually that, no the weight of 50g is more important than the flex and my distance and accuracy (today not withstanding) is better with this than my TSi. He countered with stiff flexes are for the guys that can hit it 275 or more So yeah he knows more than a Titleist Fitter and more than I’ve learned from many of the top fitters I’ve met. Ha But yoi know it’s just like a thread I posted a yesr or so ago. How someone who is a good player (and he is….(about an 8 handicap) -assume they know more than someone that isn’t as good as them and isn’t open to idea, that you may actually some knowledge even though you aren’t a single digit handicap.

  20. Update from Thursday/League Round. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. You ever have one of those days where you just can’t feel your swing get into a groove. Yes, even as a 16.6 handicap I do feel they on most days, I csn feel my swing is what is should be..as much as my ability allows if that makes sense Well Thursday was one of those days. I can’t say I had more than 2-3 swings all day they were anywhere near what I’d call acceptable. Either I felt like I didn’t make a complete turn, or I got too wild even quicker from the top, or felt I didn’t stay in the shot. All those and even some on the same swing it seemed Ok long disclaimer over. I didn’t have a great driving day. 5/13 fairways. Hit 4 wood on one (pretty well actually, it was one of those 2-3 swings I mentioned). Of the 5 fairways hit, two of them were drives on holes they left me at least 20 yards closer to the green than I normally am on those holes That’s the good I didn’t get total distance on them as my cart partner driving took off from thd tee too fast before I could hit mark on my GPS. But I was happy with the mid flight with a bit of a fade. I did change the settings the otjet day taking the loft down .75 to see if it would lower the launch angle and spin a bit. Tough to say if it did on spin, but the flight was defiantly lower. Maybe a touch to low for my liking. So some more playing with the settings on Tuesday on the LM to see what I can do. Only one guy in the group noticed the new TSR. He happens to play a TSi so no surprise there I let him hit it pm one hole and he beat his already good drove on that hole by 5 yards. He kinda scoffed and said $550 for 5 yards, No thanks! I get it, but told him that was 1 swing with a shaft and head he doesn’t know if it’s fit for him. He said that doesn’t matter that they wouldn’t make that big or difference Oh well chalk it up to a rough day with the swing and try again next time

    How'd you play?

Today was the opposite - I don't feel like I was hitting the ball that well, but I scored well, mostly thanks to 28 putts. Almost the round of my life. The front is easier than the back as it's a little more open and conducive to scrambling. Ended up with a 38 on the front (with a birdie on 4) and then I birdied 10. 12-15 is a really tough stretch (especially for someone who is accuracy-challenged with long clubs) and I made it through those 4 at +4, so I was pretty pleased. Finished with doubles on 17 and 18, which sucks, but overall pretty pleased with how I played. Unlike last time I played, most of the bounces seemed to go my way this time. I'll take a little extra luck whenever I can get it. I decided to try a Chrome soft X LS I had found. Gross. I hated it. Seemed shorter off the tee, although driver wasn't great today, and kind of meh around the greens. I did like the triple track though. Supposed to play again Monday at a course I shot an 81 at last month, but rain is supposed to be coming soon.

  23. Getting ready to head out to the course for our Men's Club Event... it is a scramble today so a good chance to do some course practice in a fun environment. Next weekend is our Club Championship, so I will be trying to find my opportunities to groove my current swing between all the rain in the forecast over the next week in preparation for the tourney.

  24. You’re pretty much maxed out with efficiency. Only way to get more yards is to get faster. Look into swing speed trainers like Rypstick, Stack or SuperSpeed

  26. As many lines as I can get. I use the line on the ball for putts and on the tee box to align for a spot in the fairway I want to hit. I also should state that my course has many tee boxes the align you into trouble. If you square yourself in the tee box your adding strokes quickly.

  27. I may be biased because I feel the same way but I'm leaning towards it being the stress fracture; the big toe is most common for (foot) gout, the redness and pain are localized to under the foot of the 2nd and 3rd knuckles as opposed to including the surrounding area and the redness and pain don't seem to be as bad as what I have seen in my minimal research. I do not know of any family history but I do need to talk to my parents as well as my grandparents (Mimi and Namaw). He didn't do blood work as he said it would most likely come back normal at the stage I am in. So he gave me a shot, wrapped it up and I am going back in after 10 days.

  39. Yea, Norman's making him earn his money... but Bubba best not quit the day job . Since I had to hang around for a repairman today, I watched the LIV event on and off. It looks like plenty of Boston folks came out to see what this is all about. Being the last holiday of the summer, it will be interesting to see what attendance looks like on Sat & Sun. The course is really gorgeous looking. It reminds me a little of some Puget Sound area courses. Have I mentioned how absolutely great the free streaming is? This alone would keep me watching these events... are you listening Greg? I'm not sure what it is about this broadcast crew, but it just seems to flow really well and, just watching golf 100%, with no interruptions, is fantastic. It was funny hearing Cam Smith on the "live mic", after crashing and bending his 62 wedge around a tree, ask DJ whether he knew if the Titleist guys would be available. DJ responds "did you bend it?", to which Can responds "yea, it's eff'd up" . Seriously Cam, I'm pretty sure the local Titleist guys were headed out the door the minute you handed the wedge back to Sam. Big kudos to Shergo Al Kurdi who got notified about an hour prior to start to substitute for Stenson who was having vertigo and a stiff neck. He played with Cam and DJ, and the 18 year old (not a misprint) had a solid round. HV3 looked really pensive and out of sorts through the first handful of holes... maybe having buyers remorse? But he got into the flow and was back to his joking, laughing self at the finish. For me, this is simply becoming another entertaining pro golf venue. The format is just fine. Who says events have to be 72 holes? Why not shotgun starts? I'm even okay with the no cut format (we already have them on the PGA). I could do without the background music, but many of the players say they actually like it... so, why not? #keepthefreestreamingforever!

  41. This was the 'shot of the night' as we were playing in 'Thursday night's 9 Hole Men's League Match Play'. This is my nemesis hole - of all the years I've played it I have only parred it once. It's a par 4 that the locals call a short par 5 . While it shows as 370 yds on the score card, the tee box is generally set back and the pin position on league days always seems to be on the upper deck behind the greenside bunker. Given the uphill fairway, uphill tee box and the hole is oriented to the west (prevailing Lake Erie winds), it's our #3 handicap hole. Tonight it was playing 395 yds. with the tee box and pin both set back. A short drive to just before the right side bunkers, avoiding the fairway downhill roll to the pond on the left (my flightpath is generally a fade), a strategic second shot into the left side rough set me up for a pitch on to the upper deck of the green. I didn't get to see my shot land but I heard my partner yelling that it missed the pin by 3 inches. So a tap in for par to take the hole. I went on to par and take the next 2 holes. We ended up winning 3 and 1, beating 2 lower handicappers.

I’m a product of CT Trade-school. I knew that College was not my bag. Got a diploma HS & Tool & Die Maker, did an apprenticeship. From there I worked as T&D maker for a while. Moved from Tool Room to Engineering Dept then ran the Tool & Engineering Dept. Anyway spent last 35 years of work running a mid size manufacturing co. I took classes at nearby University that I needed. Yup, I’m a Trade School advocate.
