I've found a putter that I want to reduce loft so I can try the Kuchar right arm lock stroke. from what I have learned loft is what controls how the ball is launched. Our swing creates dynamic loft with a putter just like a full swing club. Ball position and swing influence the loft you deliver. Too little loft at impact and you hit the ball into the ground which causes it to bounce. Too much loft and it launches the ball too high and probably with some backspin. Both of these can impact distance control. With the right arm lock like Kuchar uses, the club leans back at address which adds loft to the club so the club needs lower actual loft to offset the backwards shaft lean. The needed loft will go back to how the club is delivered at impact. 9 minutes ago, Kenny B said: And I putt better when the putter head weight is closer to 400g. It's a custom fit by Ping at 34"; I was using a 32" putter and I grip it the same, so a lot of weight above my hands. I will be getting another Ping putter that's 38" for the armlock and have the loft reduced to 0º. If it was a left armlock putter, then the loft would likely be close to 5-6º as opposed to the normal 3º of most putters. That's a lot of loft change. I was curious what that change would do to lie angle and toe hang, if any. I wasn't sure if it was placebo, but my Dad has putted with my putter before and after and agrees it's more balanced now with the weight. 4 rounds with it, 1 about average putting stats the other 3 rounds were good putting numbers. My Sik head is also 375g and the putter is 34" I also choke way down with my grip. I replaced a thin pistol stock grip with the Superstroke 2.0 then the weight, so really I made the club heavier in total weight, but it now feels lighter. Keep in mind that putter it’s the same toe hang may not perform the same. Like full swing clubs the looks and feel influence how we swing the putter and ultimately how they perform. My old putter feels very light, but think it is around 350. Because it feels light, I sometimes get a bit handsy or armsy and am finding I do much better with a heavier head or at least where the balance feels heavier. Some power with shoulders, some with just an arm or both arms. Everything we do influences the stroke and ultimately the putter configuration we need. rdocherty
I am always thinking about new equipment but my bank disagrees. I haven’t bought a new club in about 7 years, with my irons and driver still being Nike. I still hit them well and enjoy them, but I always think about how much a new set would improve my game or a fitted set. My biggest thought are woods, as I have a 5 wood Callway X and no 3 wood. I hit the 5 wood pretty well (220-235) so I don’t NEED a new one, but maybe a 3 Wood is good. I also don’t know about a 7 wood, as I hit my 4 iron pretty well at 215-220. A lot of content on game improvement from club upgrades is based on a few years, but what about clubs that are 7-12 years apart? Before my Nike Irons, I had no name brand clubs and obviously saw a huge improvement from moving to Nike. richk9holes
I have a trade being processed at sub70, so I have some time to think. Hoping the store credit being issued coincides with a big promo for the upcoming major. Timing may work out. Either way the question is what to do with the credit. I'm currently carrying 14 clubs and enjoying the setup, but the top of the bag is very crammed with options for bomb and wedge strategy on the short courses I play. Ping g25 @10.5° Tit. Ts2 @12° 917 f2 @ 14.25° (fade bias) Ping g15 15.5° Stealth rescue 22° This is the part I could obviously drop a club if I were to get something in the 18-19° range but I'm not sold that suits my game. I don't think I'm accurate enough on approach to be so specific from 180y + I prefer having the trajectory options I currently do and controlling swing speed to achieve anywhere from 175-200y with any of the 3 clubs from 14-22° when 200+y is needed the 917 f2 and g15 give 2 options with different flight, I wouldn't overswing the 4h to try to get that much from it. A 48° wedge would fit between 45° pw and 52° vokey on paper but I think it would disrupt my wedge game which is currently disruption free and actually getting compliments from playing partners. I like having 1 set wedge(10 iron), 1 vokey and 1 Jaws full toe. The loft numbers don't matter nearly as much as the 3 different bounce numbers and the 3 varying designs. cksurfdude 1 Quote Finding a way to turn birdies into bogeys since 1992. #TeamChunks '23 Forum Tester: Elixir Golf Ball WITB:TS2 10.5° @ 11.25° Tensei blue AV 55 R graph•917f2 15° @ 16.5° Diamana blue x5ct dialed 70 R graph•Stealth 22° Ventus red 6 (non-velo) R graph• 699u 2i 17° tgi 70 R graph•24° Tour v 90 black pvd R steel•699 6i-PW Tour 110 black pvd R steel• SM8 50°/08° @ 52°/10° SM8 stock steel• Jaws Full Toe 56°/12° DG Spinner TI steel • c series DW 2.0 slant neck stock steel•Phantom 2 gps•Tour v3 rangefinder•Elixir golf ball•

Hopefully you don't really know what kind of roll or skid you get because your eyes are still looking down well after the ball has moved 12". Putting more than anything else in this crazy game is a "whatever works" proposition so if a forward press and negative loft is producing the best results, no need to change. Occam's razor would say if you have tried different putting styles and what you are currently doing works best, you should stick with it. That said I would add, you can always reduce the loft on your putter so using the same ball position and stroke may produce an even better roll on the ball. cksurfdude and Rickp 2 Quote Driver: Qi10 10.5* ... I Have no idea why it doesnt skid or hop when it takes of but it doesnt. I 1st tried it after reading somewhere about it being used on short putts just outside the gimme range and it worked so good I just started moving it out to the point its all I use even if Im lagging from another zipcode across a large green. cksurfdude 1 Quote Ping 430 Max H/L 10 Degree Geezer Flex Ping 425 7 wood Geezer Flex Ping 425 5H [Not in bag] TM DHY 4/5 Titlist 5-Gap T300's Geezer Flex Wedges Cleveland RTX Fullface Zipcore 52 degree and TM Hi Toe 4 56 degree Putter Scotty Cameron Golo S Center Shafted Ball Bridgestone BXS , Trying The Maxfli Tour S also Bag Titlist 15 Cart Bag

To be fair friends can obviously see a ball hop Fred, but it takes a high speed camera to tell if the ball is skidding and if it is excessive and for more than 12". Most good putters have their eyes down well past 6 feet while maintaining their posture and then swiveling their head to see the putt. My friends tell me about a hop from an anomaly in the green but I never see it for the first 6-8 feet. If I did, I am looking up far too quickly. My post was meant as encouragement because what you are doing seems to be working for you. But additional fine tuning by a slight loft adjustment if needed, is never a bad idea. cksurfdude and Rickp 2 Quote Driver: Qi10 10.5* ... Ventus Red Velocore 5R Fairway: Qi10 5 wood ... Im Skeeeered I will mess up whats become my best and most consistent putting ever lol. Besides its like I posted here when some were talking about sound and feel of clubs I see people in real life who couldnt break bogey for a million dollars talking about wont play a club because topline is to fat or sound is to clicky or they dont like the feel and I tell the SOBS I dont care if a new driver sounds like squeezing a clowns nose if it gets me 15 extra yards and in the middle of the fairway lol. cksurfdude 1 Quote Ping 430 Max H/L 10 Degree Geezer Flex Ping 425 7 wood Geezer Flex Ping 425 5H [Not in bag] TM DHY 4/5 Titlist 5-Gap T300's Geezer Flex Wedges Cleveland RTX Fullface Zipcore 52 degree and TM Hi Toe 4 56 degree Putter Scotty Cameron Golo S Center Shafted Ball Bridgestone BXS , Trying The Maxfli Tour S also Bag Titlist 15 Cart Bag
