Nursery Rhyme Putting

So I've been putting horribly all summer. A friend told me to think about anything but putting while putting. For whatever reason I've settled on Andrew Dice Clay nursery rhymes and I'll be damned if it hasn't helped a ton. I literally say the rhymes out loud in my head if that makes sense. I start the rhyme right when I stand over the ball to putt and have changed nothing else.

 

Since the tip 29 consecutive holes without a 3 jack and a lot more one putts rolling in. Prior to this I had 3 - 5 three putts a round. Hickory dickery dock seems to work the best.

 

Anyone else do anything or tried something similar with great results?

Do you proceed to hit the ball every time you say "Dock"? I feel like that's what I'd end up doing lol.

 

Backswing - hickory dock

Putt - dock

Follow through - the ball just missed the spot. F*CK.

Haha, nope, I just pull the trigger on the putt wherever I am in the rhyme but now that you said something this new found success I'm sure will become useless.

I think it comes down to tempo. Saying the rhyme gives your stroke a timing that remains consistent across all length putts. This enables you to fine tune distance control since you start learning how long of a stroke to make for x distance instead of changing how fast you swing the putter

Have not tried that, but I do use the Spieth "Look at the hole" within about 10 feet, which takes the opportunity for me to lift my head and pull the putt out of play - one less thing to worry about...

That's what I did.  Started with 4-5 footers, then moved back.  I do that on all putts now.

I look at the hole from about 5 feet in and it works great.

I do a similar thing when hitting all my shots. I whistle when I waggle and hit all my shots. Helps keep me from gripping club too tight and keeps my arms relaxed.

My son likes to look at me with a smile as he putts. Really annoying as they usually drop.
