Quick question from a long time scatter-brained lurker looking to improve his focus for golf

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I've been a lurker on this forum for a while! And decided to finally get involved!

Been playing amateur golf regularly for a few years (not amazingly talented but seem to be able to drive it pretty far!), but have been in love with the sport for a LIFETIME!

A quick question on nootropics, has anyone tried them for golf?

I have a few friends who recommend them, but personally I'm not too sure or sold on the effects.

It would be great to hear your thoughts on them, whether they helped your game or not.

Many thanks!

Anuj

Hey Eagle_One. As a younger guy I can tell you I have experimented in the past with Nootropics, namely Onnit's Alpha-Brain. I have never used it though for golf, but did find a slight benefit while using it in law school on remembering things. As with most of these supplements, I think a good amount is a placebo effect, but if you go in with low expectations I think it can help you.

Wasn't there another post on this very product?

Yes there was, somewhat unintelligible spam as I recall.

thanks for the reply bergtaur, was considering trying the onnit one (a fan of the Joe rogan podcast, and he's ALWAYS plugging it), but there are a ton of them out there... be interesting to see if anyone has tried any other ones specifically in a sporting situation and seen their effects.

Yeah, I got their name through Rooster Teeth and their podcasts with both companies being big players in Austin. If it matters, Onnit does have a PGA guy on their athletes page with Matt Every, 2 time winner of the AP Invitational and he talked up the help Alpha Brain gave him, but as with most plugs, consider the source and reasons.
