SPY VIP GolfSpy_X Posted April 30, 2018 SPY VIP Share Posted April 30, 2018 Since we tested the original Ketsch the TR grooves have changed multiple times. The original looked to be the most aggressive for distance control across the face. Over the years it just seems to be less and less aggressive. We have heard that this might be due to the fact that the were infringing on another groove tech. Otherwise I am not sure why they would have ever changed. I've noticed the changes especially on the groove side. What's so surprising to me is that with Ping being such a engineering based company that the design changes they have made, based on legal grounds or not, would so negatively affect performance. Pretty damn impressive though. I don't believe the product/tech necessarily needs to be on the market yet for it to be infringed upon. In theory Evnroll (or whoever else's tech it is) could have release product featuring it after Ping but could have been awarded that patent before Ping started doing the original TR Grooves. * Staff Professional* Driver: Stealth Plus+ (7.25*) - Fujikura Ventus Black 6X Tipped 1" 3 Wood: Stealth Plus+ (14.25*) - Fujikura Ventus Blue 7x Tipped 1" Driving Iron: P790 UDI 2 iron - HZRDUS Smoke Black RDX 100 6.5 4 Iron: P790 - KBS C-Taper 130 X Irons (5-7) P7MC - KBS C-Taper 130 X Irons (8-P) P7MB - KBS C-Taper 130 X Wedges: MG3 Black 50.09 / 55.11 - KBS TOUR FLT 130 X 60* Wedge: High Toe Raw - KBS Tour 130 X Putter: Custom Black ER2 or Custom Black Del Monte Bag: FlexTech Stand Bag Glove: Tour Preferred Glove Ball: TP5X #11 RangeFinder: R1 Smart Rangefinder Instagram: @dpattgolf

Makes me wonder if that style helps produces a more consistent alignment at address compared to other shapes. It actually keeps going: it's 8 of the top 16 (Futura 6M, Ardmore, and Elevado). I'm partial to this headstyle for exactly that reason. I have a 7 and an Elevado, and it seems to me that they're the easiest to aim of any putters I own. Slap
I just took the blind plunge and bought the TA#3 online. I hope they can bend it flat for me. Two things this putter has going for it. Like you all mentioned above maybe the head shape might be on to something and the shaft is black. Remember Adam's no tech putter video? Apparently the black shaft helps you focus more. I bet this helps in such a strange situation like testing putters indoors. But but but, my putter didn't win and they advertise so it must be biased...really? I haven't seen a lot of Tommy Armour advertising, no one seems to have mentioned that! Pretty amazing result for a low tech budget priced putter. Not a lot of "look at what's in my bag" appeal, but if it works at that price, it certainly frees up a bit of cash for those in the market for a new putter. Of course it may not be right for everyone, but at that price it's not a big gamble. 849 Pro Evenflow Riptide 6.0 F8 3 & 5 Woods Project X Evenflow Blue 6.0 TS2 7 Wood Project X Evenflow Blue 6.0 MP18 MMC - Project X LZ 5.5 Zipcore Wedges 50,54,58 - Project X LZ 5.5 MLA Tour Mallet 33" Z Star Pioneer bag buggy

When I first saw it I thought it was a Ping I hadn't seen before or like a slightly cheaper milled line from taylormade or Odyssey.
