Surprisingly inspired by an online instructor

I have recently discovered Mike Bender on Instagram. For the first time, I have found an instructor who speaks a language I truly understand.

If any of you have not I would say check him out.

For others who are familiar, what online instructors do you pay close attention to for your game?

I was debating about whether or not to put a thread about him, I have recently checked him out as well and found him great. Lots of drills with specific purpose and he is great about interacting with people who leave comments looking for more help. I do love the way he breaks things down, an excellent teacher.

I have found Chris Ryan's stuff to be pretty good as well. I used to be into Me and My Golf but I find they progress too quickly through things and they are more interested in promoting themselves and their products (which is fair, it's a business). I also really enjoy when Mark Crossfield does Q and A's on instagram.

It’s nice to see relevant information that’s explained in clear terms. A lot of instructors talk and talk and talk and use 50 words when 10 will do.

Crossfield is a nice page to find. He clearly loves his job.

I’m the type of golfer who will look anywhere and from anyone for a tip to play this game better. I’ve recently been watching Russell Heritage on you tube. Really enjoy his lessons. Very easy to understand. Thanks for the Mike Bender tip. I’ll take a look at him.

I wouldn't say that I take lessons online but I do watch a few youtube vids from time to time. And occasionally I'll pick-up a tip that I like that seem to make sense to me. Two that come to mind are Shawn Clements and Clay Ballard.

I personally feel like Mike Bender might be the best golf instruction Instagram account around. Some of his methods are certainly different than many of the new instructors touting opening up, wrist angles and rotation. From what I have read he strives to teach the most efficient swing possible and he does a darn good job at it!!

Other guys to look into:

Mike Malaska- YouTube

Jeff Coston on Twitter, YouTube

I’ve been “Benderized” as well, and in another week or so I’m going to send-in a video and do an online lesson. I’ve adopted just a few of his teachings and I immediately got rid of my flipping, and exaggerated in-to-out swing. What he teaches is legit, and so easy to learn. Great follow!!!

This right here speaks to me. I am having so much trouble keeping my hands ahead of the club on my longer irons.

Bender consistently shares videos that enforce this behavior and help repair it.

What set him apart was how clearly and efficiently he translates this language.

Let us know how it goes!

He has hundreds of videos on his page. He’s teaching something EVERY SINGLE DAY. Drills, explanations, etc. All are meant for one person he’s teaching at the moment, but there’s always something he goes over that can apply to what one knows is wrong with their swing, copy the drill/move, and adapt it. It’s unreal.

Garage practice set-up. Bender is big on feedback negative or positive when making a swing change. My favorite drill station to help me hit push draws. Bender is very good.

I personally also enjoy following these guys on youtube among others:

Mike Malaska (so interesting whether or not I would use it all or not)

Maria Palozola (beyond underrated for simple stuff that works)

Van Phillips

Tony Luczak

Golf with Aimee - I think she is teaching golf - I might watch if she was just describing paper towels also!

MeandMyGolf - these guys put up so much content and it keeps getting better

and most recently......

Tyler Ferrell of golfsmartacademy.com - so thorough with concise vids for drills, concepts and feels.

A few I personally have viewed but now avoid for various reasons although I'm sure they have good stuff that can benefit some, I personally just do not either agree it is for mass consumption or enjoy the way they deliver their message:

Clay Ballard (I think he was initially asking you to subscribe to his pay service to get the point of any video, though that may have changed),

Shawn Clement (just don't think most golfers would be able to parse out the good from the bad in his overall lineup of advice),

Peter Finch - just not interesting to me.

Gravity Golf, those guys may have a method, but just too far from the standard range of accepted fundamentals for my taste.
