Popular Post William P
Good morning and happy Friday fellow spies. starting the day at a mild 42 degrees after last night's much needed rain, SWMBO has quite the schedule of events for me today starting with blood donation and followed with a big breakfast at our favorite little cafe. Hopefully get a chance to get some practice in this afternoon and continue working on swing change. Have a great day everyone. Popular Post rkj427
Good morning Spies on a zero commute work from home day for me. Sadly, there were some massive system updates in the systems I use, and it delayed computer functionality for a bit this morning. Have plans to go to a local SIM place tonight and play a round on Old Mac at Bandon to post it the Virtual Tour thread. Doesn't matter my score, more about having some fun later today. Hope @Kenny B is better today and may be at home much sooner than later. Hope that your day is the best it can be, no matter what may be in your plans. Popular Post jbern
Good morning! Coffee in hand and just got things organized for the rest of my work day. One of my new year's resolutions is to do Yoga or stretching twice a week, to help with flexibility, to help with golf. Last night I did "Yoga for the core" and I'm feeling it from my ankles all the way up to my shoulders! haha I was bummed to read all the sad news for people on the forum: @Kenny B I'm glad you're feeling better, but that sounds scary to me. Popular Post EnderinAZ
Good morning spies! 42 with freeze warnings all around. Has the citrus farmers hoping the forecasts are wrong. Playing the last round of the week with the Wild Bunch today and depending on how long the frost delay is will determine if we finish before dark. Wednesday I had the headlights turned on as I drove the golf cart home from hole 13 where we finished. As deep winter sets in the days are getting longer (today is one whole minute longer than yesterday ). This morning I will spend some time getting the "equitable scoring" section working for the Wild Bunch scoring program. Hank Haney recommended 100 swings, 3-4 days a week in the off season, even in the garage if need be, I usually do that by going through by bag, 5 swings each, from PW-3 wood then back down from 3 wood to PW. Just keeps the rythym and tempo going for me, I have a mirror in the garage as well so I can see the positions of the swing. Popular Post Byrnzee
Good morning spies! Glad to see the finish line in sight as this busy week comes to an end. Hoping to be productive today in order to avoid any weekend work. Have a tour scheduled tomorrow morning for this 24/7 golf sim (basically you pay either a monthly or annual fee for unlimited access via an app on your phone). With the Mevo testing and going stir-crazy in the Chicago winter, I may pay for a month of access to get as many reps in as possible. Will keep y'all updated as it's a pretty cool concept that I don't hear about a lot. Also have a new bag expected to arrive early next week that I'm excited to share with all of you. I grew up in LR and went to UALR, but after moving between Houston, Memphis, and Dallas for my wife's job we settled in Fayetteville six years ago. It's amazing here. We're members over at Paradise Valley. It's a good track, but my favorite course up here is Pinnacle. I worked there for a few months when we first moved here and really liked it, but the commute combined with my wife's schedule and kids school schedule made it really difficult. PV was semipublic when I was in school, and I will forever remember it as the site of my first lifetime birdie (#9, short par 4). And when Pinnacle first opened (still called Champions then before the club in Houston sued), they had a media day (I was a reporter then) and I got to play it. First place I ever played with zoysia fairways. I started playing golf in a PE class at UA; we met at the old Razorback Park 9-hole goat track off Deane Solomon Road. We called it Pebble Beach, not because it resembled the famed course in Cali but because the fairways were largely rocks. It was the site of the UA cross country course before UA built the current one at Agri Park. I keep meaning to come back for a football game or something but work keeps getting in the way. If I make it, though, I'll definitely bring the clubs! I have a friend who lives in suburban Omaha but has a lake house at Beaver Lake and I have a standing invitation to stay there if I get back. Popular Post Jim Shaw
Good morning spy's My 1st post of 2024, I think lol I have come to realize, after 50 years of competitive golf, that I suffer from anxiety in certain competitive situations, mostly the next day after a great round, or when I perceive I am playing really well and don't deliver. I have done many things on my own to try and figure it out however when I hired a sports psychologist 5 years ago she really helped me understand the "why" behind it. Today I would like to tell a story about the Provincial Championship in 2021 in Kimberly BC. I shot 68 in the first round and was tied for the lead. Day 2 I shot 80, I was so distraught, (shot 67 last day so really pissed off lol) Anyway, in my conversation with Christie it was evident to her that because of the stress of being in the lead and being anxious I lost the feeling in my extremities on day 2. So she discussed the science behind the "why" and now I make sure I "feel it in my fingers and feel it in my toes" a little ditty I go through to make sure the blood is flowing to keep the feel. It is fun for me to learn these things as my journey continues... rkj427, Josh Parker, cnosil and 12 others 11 3 1 Quote committed to performance excellence

Oh I love that hole. The short tee shot with the 50ft elevated green. It's a lot of fun. I actually had my first hole in one during Member-Guest there last year on #2. And there are few things about a golf course I love more than zoysia fairways. It's like hitting off a mat. Go Hogs! I remember being surprised that my approach shot reached the green, then rolled in about a 15-footer. For some reason when I have a birdie putt my success rate is better than when I have the same putt for, say, double bogey. Now if I can just give myself more birdie putts.... I remember my first time auditioning for a major motion picture and I was so nervous I am not sure I remembered to breathe. I never experienced anything like that playing QB at any level. But the more I auditioned the better I got at managing my nerves. They never go away of course because it can mean so much but they stopped derailing my chances of being cast (shooting an 80 between a 68 and 67) after about the 5th time. ... So now I enjoy the "rush" and think the Eagles said it so well in Desperado "Your losing all the highs and lows ain't it funny how the feeling goes away". Give me anxiety over comfortable every time.
