I still have two somehow. I almost lost one in thick fescue on the last hole that I’ve played outside, but I stepped on it as I was exiting the fescue after giving up hope. I was very happy about that! 🤩

Both balls left are pretty beat up after a handful of simulator sessions the past few weeks.

Hats off to all the testers but really a huge kudos to all the staff members who had to manage all the logistics for 79 testers. Well done all. It'll be interesting as to what and how the big "T" handles the input and if it comes to retail.

Was fun and thankfully google sheets made it a bit easier. Still had a couple errors I had to fix last minute but it's all there!

Thanks to all the testers and participants!

I like the use of the ball stuck in the green photo for the background on the stats, haha

@Michael.Sandoval33

I pitted the Prototype against a Taylormade Soft Response and I was amazed at how similar the balls performed. I did a side-by-side comparison with both balls.

I did find that the Titleist Prototype was a bit softer, flew a bit straighter and had a bit less spin than the TM Soft Response.

The feeling off the putter was very similar, but in-hand feeling the Prototype felt softer.

But I am eagerly awaiting to see which model it was that we tested as I never played Titleist balls and am willing to switch due to this experience!

It looks like I will have to be on the lookout for these then 👀. I purchased a box of Duo Soft balls from Wilson that I am going to try out tomorrow as well. Looking for a solid soft ball while I improve. Thanks for your honest and great review! It will surely encourage Titleist.

I didn't see it spelled out, but I see there was an AVX article on the 17th. So were we testing the new AVX, or a prototype of that? Or do we not know yet?

Ok thanks. I thought I missed the payoff for a minute there, but I looked around and didn't see anything definitive.

To everyone that guessed AVX or that the ball was like the AVX (or those that knew from the one shipping label) - well done, we were right! 🤜 👏  😆

I just realized I still have 2 of these balls! I’m going to wait and buy the new AVX when I find them just to compare them side to side to see if there were any minor changes between the test ball (which was AVX) and what became the production ball.

That's awesome. Yeah I think we don't know if the test ball was basically what they're releasing as the new AVX, or something else along the development path. The cover seemed super glossy to me and half the people mentioned how it damaged easily, and that is actually something you can compare visually, so that will be neat to hear about.

My driver shots only had one trend worth mentioning (no launch monitor numbers). The trend was :titleist-small: "TEST" ball VS everything else. Every ball besides the "TEST" ball flew at a normal height and with a 5-15 yard fade. The "TEST" ball flew noticeably lower and favored a 0-5 yard fade. The lower launch and straighter flight put it at the top of the average distance list below.

  1. :titleist-small: TEST: This was also the straitest.

New Titleist AVX released, and it closely matches my on course findings.Screenshot_20240124_133742_Firefox.jpg.5aaf10cd937b9639be9c19b0966a195b.jpg

Sad news - I lost the last two of my TEST balls yesterday. One I thought I hit in the fairway (blind tee shot) and we just could not find it. I have a feeling it was plugged underground somewhere. The fairways were very soft in some areas. I was disappointed because I had played 4 rounds with that ball and the durability of the ball was outstanding. The last TEST ball was lost in a marsh hazard area on the toughest par 5 on the course.

With the 2nd ball, I did experience a durability issue. After I lost the first one plugged, I went back to the tee box and hit a drive and then an 8 iron. I wish I would've taken a photo, but the ball was borderline because of the cover scuff marks from those two shots. I did get through 3 more holes before loosing it and it performed fine. If I was playing a tournament I probably would've gotten a new ball out.

So, I pulled out my last test ball this morning. I was playing a Srixon XV and my distance just wasn't great with it. Lost the Srixon, and I pulled out the test ball. I thought the distance was much more consistent to what I'm used to. I'm guessing the weather had something to do with it (Mid-Upper 50s, firm vs soft ball).

I lost one of my test balls yesterday and am now down to 1. I used it on a par 3 and was reminded why I didn't like the ball. It was 140 yards and I used a PW. I was playing my Z Star Diamond all day and was able to get shots with a 7 iron and 8 iron to land with only a couple feet of rollout. This shot landed about 10 feet short of the hole and I thought I was going to have a tap in birdie but no, it had to roll about 12 feet past the hole. I don't know what it is but the AVX is just not my ball.

I don't want to go back and read... I take it the ball was just too low spinning for your liking?

I liked the ball and could probably game the AVX... my big issue was that it balloons too high for me on iron shots. Makes distance control very difficult in the wind. Off the tee and less-than-full iron shots, it was fine.

Yeah, the spin was significantly different for me compared to the Diamond. Not sure why but it just had no bite for me. Distance off the tee was close but a tad shorter on average.
