Mizuno Pro Fli-Hi

Recommended Posts

I’ve gone through quite a few driving irons recently, but see the Mizuno is coming out with a new Pro Fli-Hi soon…it has my attention as they will have a LH version.

Anybody have any experience with any version of the Pro Fli-Hi and willing to share some thoughts?

I started with the Titleist U510 and then couldn’t get along with it, went to the Ping G425 Crossover and didn’t have good results, using a Srixon ZX Utility now and have decent results, just need a bit more distance with it.

I am a fellow lefty so can't tell you too much other than in fittings that I have done several people loved them. Sorry, wish I could provide more first hand experience but am still using a G410 Crossover from PING.

I love my Fli-Hi 3-iron. I too have my eye on the new release to find out if it’s measurably better not. It’s a great driving iron and versatile enough to play extremely well from the fairway and the rough. IMG_0420.jpeg.7dbf9038baee323048a13b606da23dbd.jpeg

Definitely worth check out.

What degree on your Srixon Utility?  Any adjustments you could make on it to get a little more out of it?

It’s a 20 degree, but the flight is already lower than I would like.  While the low flight is good for off the tee and roll out, looking for something I can get high for approaches.

It was quite sad the other day I hit my 4 iron and Srixon off the tee and hit both solid, the balls were sitting within a yard of each other with the 4 iron slightly farther.

I was looking at the 410 also, while I can find some deals on lefty clubs, typically have to go in without trying them out as there aren’t many out there.

Thanks for the input, it is quite a sharp looking club.  What shaft do you have in yours?

It came stock with the Hazardous Black. The sole is quite wide so it plays like a hybrid in some ways. But I find it much easier to hit than a true hybrid.

I’ve always struggled with hybrids, so that’s why I’ve leaned toward the utilities.  Most sites that have the new model come with a SteelFiber shaft, but the Hazardous was listed as an option on the Mizuno site…that is the shaft that I was leaning towards.

Yeah, not spectacular for approaches.

It might just be my swing but I’ve found I get a pretty high ball flight and it hold the green really well. I like it because it swings like an iron (I still prefer longer irons) but comes into greens pretty softly so they can hold a green even from 230 yds away.

That is almost exactly what I’m looking for!  This might be a new addition to my bag in the near future.
