I have one that I'm sure will draw the ire of some folks on here. Sorry😂 Walkers. I know, I know, it's the way golf is "supposed" to be played🙄 I've just gotten accustomed to cart golf and I absolutely love it. I belong to 3 clubs and 2 of them are mandatory carts. It's fantastic. So yes, when I play elsewhere, I get annoyed by the walkers🤷🏻‍♂️

on the flip side - I'm extremely annoyed at courses that don't allow walking.

the idea that riding in a cart speeds up play is a total fallacy.

I know it is petty, but I hate it when people sit in their carts and fill out the score card while sitting by the green. DUDE! Just do this on the tee box.

I actually get a kick out the "excuse on every shot" guy as long as they aren't slowing things down.

Folks not taking the time to rake a bunker after their bunker shot, then listening to the same folks complain of the bunker conditions. Not sure why folks don’t think raking a bunker is a required part of the game anymore. To me, not raking a bunker is absurdly selfish and is essentially saying that you don’t care about the rest of the folks on the course.

I'll add one more I just thought of, hitting a good drive and somehow losing your ball in the fairway. It happens a lot more in the fall than any other time, but that just sucks.

I was wondering when this would come up!  I hate playing with someone who has more fun fishing for balls than actually playing golf.  If you can get your ball out of the water, great...get it, drop it, and then hit it!  I quit playing with a guy because he would pick up / fish out every ball he saw and waste five or more minutes doing it.  Let's play golf!!!

I forgot about that one. I totally agree - won't play with anyone who spends their time walking along a pond looking for golf balls. Geeezzzz you just spent several hundred $$ on clubs, $75. greens fees and now you're looking for that errant Nitro that rolled into the pond?

Mine HAS to be divot / ball marks on the green. At my Tuesday night league, the groups in front of us are notorious for not fixing / repairing their marks. It's gotten to the point that I'm spending more time fixing ball marks than reading the green for my putt. Midway through the season last year it was so bad that a few of us told the pro / starter... Of course nothing was done. I was joking around with a few guys saying that I should charge the course a nickel a repair and invoice them after my round. FIX YOUR DAMN MARKS PEOPLE!!! Old man rant over. haha

My peeves are:

Our course charges $65 a round - unless you are a member - and doesn't bother to put sand in the traps. Easier to play off cart path.

20 minute stops at clubhouse between 9s. If you can't make it 4 hours between meals somethings wrong

We have a golfer that can barely walk on the green but insists on walking 18 holes. Great that he's trying but bad for group behind him - usually us

Groups that come banging down to the tee to stand behind you and talk while you tee off.

I have more but thats enough for now.

Taking too long to look for a ball that's almost certainly lost. I totally get the ball rolling off the fairway a few feet into the rough and wanting to find it because you SHOULD find it. But when you hit it over the trees into the tall grass or onto the next hole, you really need to take one quick look and if you don't get lucky and find it right away, drop one and move on with your life.

Sure, this. Is the time of year when all the couch potatoes come out. After sitting all winter with a briefcase of Bud on one side and bags of Fritos, Doritos or Cheetos on the other; they go out to play golf. They slow down to a crawl, and have trouble bending down to get the ball.

Push cart and bag carrying Walkers!  Yeah,  I said it!!! 😆

They don't have to follow the "cart path only" rules, they can go up to the edge of the green with their clubs, they play a hole faster than most, Marshall's can't track them with GPS, they can walk into areas my cart can't go, and the list goes on!!!

in case you took this seriously,  I was just being sarcastic. I'm actually jealous of the ones who can pull off 18 holes in 80⁰ +temps with high humidity!!! Im lucky if i can handle 9 holes!!!

Sounds like someone needs to sign up for the next pushcart testing opportunity that the forum has! 😆

Slow play is number 1, I play with a fellow that has to use a rangefinder on every shot even though he is wearing a gps watch. Then totally sets up for a practice swing along with repeating the same on every shot! Walks to the ball without a club uses rangefinder then walks back for a club.

I get a little sad at the turn because there are only 9 left to play. At 16 I'm thinking three left and how did it go by so quickly? On the last hole, I'm adding up skins and putts owed so I'm a little less sad then. Overall, I enjoy golf with all the slow play, ball marks, divots in the fairways, trash on the course, all of it. Even the guy trying to give me swing tips that I totally ignore.

I have another, and of course it goes to pace of play. They go back to their carts and fill out the scorecard, debate everyone’s score and then move to the next tee box.

Come on! Put your club in your bag, move to the next tee and write down the scores while you wait for others to tee off. Besides, it’s just a few numbers, not a dissertation.

My playing partners in the men's club where 3 of them line up on a 187 yard par 3 with three different range finders and debate the results. C'mon guys 2 of you are going to use your driver and all three of you will be short of the green anyway. Just move on.

In a team game, having a player getting volcanic in their anger over their poor play.

   1.  The shot is already gone. Getting angry over that shot is a waste of effort. Its like cutting your fingernails too short. Yeah it hurts, but once done, it is done. Get      over  it.

  2.  All your carping brings the rest of the team down.

Pre-shot routines where the person gets set, addresses the ball, takes a practice swing. THEN steps away from the ball, goes behind the ball while taking small swings, checks the alignment. THEN addresses the ball again, takes a practice swing or two, THEN finally hits the ball. One old playing partner added almost 30 minutes to the round with his 30 second routine.

- Slow players or groups who will not let me or my group play through.  You can be slow.  Just don’t make us slow too.

- Lots of anger on the course.  I’m there to relax and enjoy the day not to watch you have a meltdown.   I once played with a guy who hit a big slice into the rough.  Totally lost it, snapped the shaft of a brand new driver over his knee and threw the pieces at his cart.  I vowed to never play with him again.  A miserable day with a toddler.

Etiquette, Etiquette, Etiquette! That was drilled into me when Uncle Aaron introduced me to golf. Your appearancee, club rules, rules of the game, your responsibility to keep the club as good or better than you found it etc.

I started by hitting balls in a field, then pitch in putt, then an executive course before a championship course. And even then it was clear that "pace of play" "fixing ball marks and divots" was something every player could improve upon.

Radio and TV Host Jacque Howard’s many efforts to change his community for the better are conveniently spelled out here by the acronym R.E.A.C.H. (Recreation, Environment, Art, Civics, Health).

I do not like it when the slow group ahead is slow because they take the cart one by one to each ball (bumble bee golf). The obvious solution is to go to ball that will be first to hit and other one either take cart out of way toward own ball or simply take clubs and walk so that nearly ready to hit when it is their turn.

I am not bothered at all by noise but I am significantly distracted by movement in my peripheral vision. I tend to try to figure out what or why the movement is occurring instead of focusing on my stroke. It is especially disheartening when a playing partner wants so badly to see every one of my shots and is jockeying for the best view.

I'm surprised this one hasn't been said (that I know of), but one of my top pet peeves is blatant cheating or wildly incorrect drops.

While 90% of the time I play casually, I don't care if people don't follow any of golf's rules. You should have fun golfing! BUT if we're playing for money or even if you say you want to have a pride match, then that's a different story. More than a handful of times last season I had guys during money matches hit it in hazards or OB and then drop in the middle of the fairway in front of my drive that was well struck.
