Got dusted 6 & 5 in the first round of our Governor's Cup event. Played even par for the last 12 once the hangover became manageable. Just a rough start and giving a lot of shots again today.

Played at a cool track called Moorpark CC. We decided to play from the tips (blacks), 6800 yards.

Shot an 81, had a couple mistakes- lack of concentration about the wind which kept getting stronger as the day progressed.

But quite a bit different from the 6300 (black) track and white tees(5626) that I've been abusing the last few months

Then the next day I played at my normal track, but from the blues (6000) this time, and shot a 76, but had a crappy front at 6 over. And that's the easy side.

I think one can still score on longer tracks, but the margin of error gets smaller.

106!!! Better man than me. My fat butt ain't movin outside at that temperature.

But it's a dry heat.    I've played in Florida in July; I'd rather play in the dry 106 heat.

Today was cooler... only 99* and a light wind made it actually feel cooler.  I've had a bunch of bad rounds lately, but today was not bad.  I managed to shoot 80; only one birdie, but no doubles or worse.  I started off par-birdie-par, but then ran off a string of 5 bogeys in a row.  Four bogeys on the back nine.  I'm happy with that.  Now I need to see if I can follow it up tomorrow when we play with a bunch of other couples.

Played in an outing today, sun came in and out with just a hint of wind. Our team played good. We ended up -9 and took second. The highlight was my son had to play 2 other's for the closest to pin challenge. They had set it up so the top three would have to play into the 18th green from about 80 yds out. There is a stream in between the chipping area and the green with the club house set up over it. My son won. Proud Dad.

Yesterday played in a 2 man scramble. It was flighted base on a qualifying round. We ended up in the first flight after a 64. Yesterday consisted of two matches. The first match was a very even match that we pulled out 2 & 1. Our afternoon match was awesome. We traded birdies back and forth 5 times with no one getting up more than one hole. I made a 15' putt on the 16th hole to square the match and from there we played 8 more holes before the other team made a nice 12' from the fringe. In all the match went 24 holes and was one of the most enjoyable days on the course.

We go back today to play for 3rd in our flight. We win and we make some money. We lose and get nothing.

Other than the holes out bunker shot on #5 for eagle and almost jarring my tee shot on #10 for an ace my round was a disaster. Drove it all over the map and paid the price. On a good not my 11 year old son and his partner shot -1 as scramble partners to win all 3 points for his PGA Jr. league team. At least one of us played will today.

My game has been off the past few weeks and continued today.   Today I struggled hitting fairways but hit 10 greens.  2 doubles and 2 triples really hurt the score.  I guess the bright side is that my short game is starting to come together and I am doing better with proximity to the hole.  Actually I am kind of at a loss as to what is going on flashes of good play followed by streaks of poor play.  Will probably just try to simplify my game and work to hit fairways and green in the upcoming weeks.  I guess I made my hybrids mad by being selected to test the KBS shafts;  they were actually working well today.

Started off ok (and good for me) - bogies and one par on the first 5 .. highlighted on #5 with a solid tee shot followed by a solid second shot for a nice GIR; left the first putt reasonably close and just as I was gonna sink the second putt the stoopit sprinklers came on right behind me! Just missed spraying me in the butt and I jammed the putt to the right ... bogey....

After that I seemed to screw up every tee shot and every second shot. And a short wedge (third) shot into a Par 5 when a sprinkler popped on again in front of me just as I was hitting the ball .. Duff .. bunker... Double.

Did have one nice up and down on a tough green, for my only 1 putt.

Tomorrow's another day!

**Edit:

CNosil just reminded me - my hybrid .. usually a go-to club .. was misbehaving badly this afternoon.... Oppositional defiant, almost ;)

Today I started off great!!  Birdied the first hole, but then followed that up with two triples and two bogeys on the front nine for +7.  I settled down on the back nine with a +3.  An 82 wasn't too bad, but without those two triple bogeys, it could have been a very nice round.  I need to spend more practice time in the bunkers.

Shot a 90 and 91... Still chasing the breaking 90. Its now getting frustrating.

Had a chance Saturday to do it, needed a 5 or better on the last hole, on it 3, instead of taking the two putt 89 felt over confident in my putting and missed bad. 3 putt 90.

Had the 18 from hell this morning. Shot 44-40 for an 84 which isn't bad for me. It was scramble all the way every hole was a freakin battle!

Can't blame anything except poor swings.

pleased with how I played on Sunday.... I only play a full 18 about once every 1 1/2 - 2 weeks so when I do I make the most of it.

I was paired with 2 Asian gentlemen.

I teed off on the whites on #1 (I'm about a 13 hc so I almost always play the whites) and I hit a nice draw around the corner about 245.

I can see these guys on the blues about 25 yards behind me.  Ugh...

First guy duffs his tee shot about 30 yards into the scrub... next guy hits it about 180 into the deep rough on the right.  Hmmmm....why are these guys playing blues?

After the first hole and introductions I ask if they want to play the blues or whites...they say the blues..."are you sure?"...yeah..... okay...so, I play the blues.

I end up shooting 39/43 and was hitting the ball really well on the front 9.  I thought that it would be that magical break-80 day... but alas, it was not to be.

The good news - I didn't have any doubles or triples...10 bogies/8 pars

The bad news - I had several birdie chances from 8 to 10 feet and still can't putt for s***.

Oh - and the guys I was playing with (who really wanted to play from the blues)....one of them shot in the high 90's and the other had to be over 100.... I don't know why they do that to themselves....

One thing I learned from the blues - the par 3's are NO JOKE.  Your typical par 3 from the whites around 160 yards now is around 185 and requires much more skill !!

pleased with how I played on Sunday....

No doubles or triples, good golf!

I got to the course a little late this morning and the guys I walk with were already halfway through the first nine.  I spent some time on the range (very unusual for me), the pitching area and putting green.  When they made the turn, I joined them on #10.  I have not walked the course for a couple of months for a number of reasons, so starting out with only nine holes was probably a good idea.  I had one birdie and 4 bogeys.  Better than I thought.  My highlight was sticking my third shot on the par 5 #13 to 3 inches from 150 Yards, all carry over a big bunker.

OM freaking G, it's so hot today. I walked the front and had to pick up the cart to finish the back. Sweat was pouring down my pretty face washing off the thick layer of sunscreen into my eyes. I took a shower right after and sat down for a long long time.

I don't know what I shot exactly, gotta go back and adjust the game golf on 2 holes but I think it's 40-38 for a nice 78. I saw there's nobody at the pool and I was tempting but I skipped it. It was not heated I didn't want to shock my body with 70* pool

Hate the blowup holes. Been a score killer for me this season.

Yeah my last round I was literally alternating par and double bogey it was so annoying

Played a bit today, only 12 holes, but it's still hot as all hades, and we rand into a clog up of slow pokes.

Played from the tips again, 6813 yards at this track.

I'm finding that I kind of like it from the tips, you definitely use more of the clubs in your bag
