Sluggo42
Played Friday and stunk it up. +8 on the front, managed to stay clean the rest of the way but good Lord I was a mess to start the day. I think I had 36 putts. A good example was the last hole, a par 5. Cut the corner with my best drive of the day, probably 270 ish, leaving me a clean 160 to the pin. Nailed a 7 iron straight at it, but the green was extra soft, so it grabbed the ball and tossed it sideways and downhill for a 30' eagle putt that I blasted 8 feet long, which I then lipped out for a 3 putt par... But, during the bad round, I did hit some very good shots, so I'm not crying. Just a gentle weeping session... Jmikecpa
Finally...finally....finally everything clicked today. Played in our annual charity day tournament with my son and shot -3 68. We started on 18 and I bombed a drive, hit a so so wedge to 30 feet and drained the putt. Made a few routine pars until I lipped out and eagle putt on 5 for a tap in bird (530 yard hole that I went driver - 7 iron to 15 feet). More routine pars until I made a 70 foot bomb on 10 for birdie. Easy birdie on 11 and then back on the par train for a few more. Great drive on 15 and a loose 7 iron into the green led to my only bogie on the card. On the final hole I horseshoed my 10 footer for 67. Overall very solid and lots of confidence heading into the club championship next week. SteddyGolf
Today was a good day but could have been much better. Once again impatience was the vain of my existence. 34 and 35 at the Hawaiian Prince GC in Ewa Beach, Hawaii. We tee'd off early but there was a good gap between a really early group and our two foursomes. When we were moving at a good pace I felt awesome. When we caught the group in front and we had to stand in the middle of the fairway for what seemed like hours I struggled to fight for Par. I made a lot of putts today! Changed my set up, added some weight to the Scotty Cameron and I seemed to finally find my stroke. The highlight of my day was the combination of two par 3s. I've never had a hole in one. After today I still have never had a hole in one but I damn near had two! One was a short 152 yarder. I hit a 9 iron that landed right slam dunk into the hole then bounced out. The second was from 175 into wind. I hit a low 5 that hit 10 feet short. We all watched it in slow motion roll towards the flag. Just as I was about to raise my hands in the air the ball bounced off the flag to the right. Oh and oh yeah. We had a group hit into us while standing on the green. It was a short par 4 playing down wind. Because it was a partially blind shot they couldn't see where the ball landed. I picked it up and politely placed it in the hole. As we drove off I could hear them yelling and screaming for what they believed to be a hole in one. MaxEntropy
Decent ball striking continued (with a few brain farts included) and I remain a fan of the Titleist AVX's. The course we played has 3 par 5's on the first 9 and I doubled all of them - ugh! There were actually a couple highlights for me: par 3 8th, about 180 yards downhill and into the wind (I guessed the wind and hill about offset each other and was right). Hit to about 8 feet and naturally lipped out the birdie put. I also parred the last 4 holes, which was very encouraging. Ended up 48/41 (par is 37/35). My goal right now is to be at, or near bogey golf. Score distribution was 3.6 on par 3's, 5 on par 4's, and 6.2 on par 5's. I believe I was distracted on the front 9 - there were two college-aged girls in front of us wearing yoga pants, and wearing them quite well. pulledabill
Took my old Eye 2s out for a last spin as my new 716 AP1s are sitting down a UPS about 2 miles away for morning pickup. Shot a 39 with a double thanks to bad club selection in the wind that found the water. Hit all but one fairway and 44% of GIRS. Besides the double, the rest of my misses found the fringe. Sure hope I love the new irons. Might take some adjustment since Im going from regular shats to stiff, stand length and lie to 1/2" over and 2 degrees upright. Had two errant drives over the 36 holes and although a few silly shots here and there as happens with my game I was super happy for the first time this season with my long game off the tee. GeekingGolf
I was inspired and played 9 after work in the rain! I shot a 39 with a double bogey and a bogey. Swing was off and never felt right but hit a lot of fairways and greens. I layed up on the second par 5 but it went through the short grass to the rough behind a tree ended up with a 3 putt double bogey. 9th hole duffed a 5 iron off the tee about 100 into the rough then hit 5 iron to fringe chip and putt for par. Sluggo42
Played my old track that I live close to. Been going elsewhere cuz it had really gotten crappy. Anyways, new owner about 6 months ago and wow, what a difference! Fairways weren't great, but definately improving. Greens were unbelievable. Started with 7 pars in a row before finally getting a birdie, thanks to a good 81 yd punched 58° that landed 6†right of the pin on the fly, then one hopped and spun back to within 2'. Had a few good chips from just off for par saves. Just a nice day of nothing fancy, just basic safe golf. Ended up with 2 bogies on the back tho, for a +1 round of 72, with 30 putts, which I'm happy with.
