Bang60
Hopefully all had a nice Xmas, I've had a great Boxing day with my best ball striking for a looooong while. Today I decided to try my Mizuno MP Type 2 Driver plus the Titleist TS3, why the bloody wind was blowing hard so used the Mizuno directly into the wind and the TS3 with a tail wind, the TS3 went 245metres a new long drive for me yeah a tail wind but I still had to HIT the ball nicely to get that result. On the first I hit both drivers as I was playing alone, hit a baby DRAW with both drivers which I was surprised and delighted with. On one hole I tried to go down the shaft on my 5wood which I hit skinny went 80ish metres then 6 iron onto the green, on another hole I nailed 6iron 120metres and normal conditions it's 155-160 that's how strong the wind was. Nice day I'll remember... cksurfdude, sirchunksalot, Rickp and 5 others 8 Quote I’m a hacker who loves nothing more than to change how I play, be that grips shafts and heads its all fair game lol…

Syks7
After a couple weeks of flu and a lot of work I managed to get out today for the first time since early December. It was rainy and cold, but good to be out. I was rusty and still a little weak and it showed -- weird day across the board 46/43 88. Everything felt a touch off in my and I'm pretty happy that I managed to (literally) dink my way down the fairway to play slightly better than bogey golf. 3 GIR and 3 Fairways hit. Nothing was truly atrocious, but nothing was good. Off the tee I was making solid contact, but just leaving the face open to varying degrees leading to a lot of blocks into the rough. Approach on line, but a touch heavy. Not enough to dig a crater behind the ball but enough to rob myself of 10-15 yards worth of clubhead speed. The resulting short approach shots were solid -- good enough to give myself a chance at an up and down, but not good enough to put it in higher percentage make zones. Not that it would have mattered anyway. Putting wasn't great. I had the speed but I didn't have the line. 36 putts. I never really threatened the hole on my first putt aside from the three pars. 14 up and down chances and zero conversions. Popular Post Kenny B
After our 55º and 35-55mph winds the snow melted pretty fast; our course opened today for walking only. My wife and I headed to the course to play 9 holes; 37º with only a slight breeze. Hard to get a tee in the ground; frozen... so were the greens underneath the top 1/4". I hit every 7/9 fairways and 4/9 greens. Parred the first 6 holes; bogeyed the last 3 holes for a 40 (+3). Sun came out on #5 and I had to take off my jacket... still had 4 layers on. My driver worked pretty well for not playing for the past month. Irons were good until the last three holes; that was what cost me the bogies. Freezing rain tonight, but 46º for high tomorrow; walking again, no carts allowed. Our course has a lot of grassy mounds and corresponding depressions with undulating fairways. The ground is still frozen, so there was nowhere for the melted snow to go. We had casual ponds everywhere!! I was in two of these ponds in the middle of the fairways on #5 and #9. Fortunately I could reach my ball with my retriever. fixyurdivot, GolfSpy SAM, JerryB and 8 others 11 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

fixyurdivot
Well, one round a trend does not make but I'm happy to have checked off one of our 4 courses for a sub 80 round. I played Desert Springs yesterday, one of three foursomes in our Thursday groups, and shot a 38/40. We all netted $12 each. It had rained over 1/2" the day before and the 0800 shotgun start time, low 40's temp, along with heavy dewpoint, had me feeling like I was playing a round in Seattle. Rooster tails and putting lines all over the practice greens. Chip shots would, seemingly, throw a cup of water forward with each stroke - one had to mind where they positioned themselves . It was WET! That said, the course drainage is great and, with the exception of a few bunkers, no standing water. Fortunately the low chance of rain never came and the sun poked its way through the clouds just enough to make for a pleasant day. One down, three to go . Bang60
Played late arvo today used 3balls on 6 holes and still blowing a gale, I hit the ball better by playing smart golf. Only found 2 balls but enjoyed the hit with so much wind, I find in strong winds I need to hit low on the face or the ball will launch high and go nowhere. My 5iron went well best was 169 metres and kept it low out of the wind, I like hitting 3 balls into the green from the same spot as mostly the 3rd is the best and I've reduced my errors and my 3rd ball is slowly getting closer and closer to the flag.
