No one is in here talking about how Scheffler got arrested this morning?

Not to get too political, but this is a scathing indictment of the police IMHO. Scheffler was just like any other person in the world trying to get work to handle their business when a small misunderstanding with a cop ends up with them in handcuffs.

Couldn’t disagree more. Driving on the median to get around a police blockade is not something anyone I know would do. It’s a huge no-no and a great way to end up in cuffs.

I’m with @Preeway on this. Watching the ESPN coverage the guy who witnessed it said he tried to dive around and was told to stop. A cop latched on to his car and went what he said was another 10 yards before he stopped. Yeah, guy said Scottie mistakenly took it as security but I don’t think you can put words into someone else’s mouth. If a cop tells you to stop in a moment like that, you stop. He didn’t. He went to jail.

He wasn't arrested, he was detained.  Also there was an active traffic fatality beimg handled inside the gates to the course. 

 I am unaware of the reasons behind his being detained, but in any State, interfering with, or failing to yield to police, is considered obstruction of operations.

Will he be charged, who knows. But at this time he wasn't arrested that I am aware.

Oh, he was arrested. Mug shot all over the internet. Sounds like an over reaction by the cop but Scottie made it worse than it needed to be.

I agree.. Scottie should've gotten out the vehicle a little quicker but he doesn't get arrested daily. Didn't know the rules

Ahhh.  I only saw the detained reports. My apologies. If in fact they were all misdemeanor charges, there is a good chance he would have been able to post bail after being processed. If they were elevated class "A" misdemeanor charges, or a felony, then he would require arraignment with the Court or Magistrate. 

Im not familiar with that States classification of charges, and every state is different. What is 2nd degree assault here (a felony) may be a misdemeanor there.  I have not clicked the latest article.

There is no way the DA is going to pursue this, or at the very most pleads it waaaaaay down.  I'm a big supporter of law enforcement, but unfortunately in any group there's going to be people that are just jerks.

Before people bash Scottie or the officer for doing anything wrong let’s get the whole situation sorted. 
 

There have been reports that have stated that the players were told they could enter and even a few players that did what Scottie did and were waved through. 
 

Bashing anyone’s character at this point including Scottie’s or the cops is just wrong with the contradicting reports so far.

From the reporter that witnessed it; he didn't have a chance to get out of the vehicle quicker - the officer opened the door, grabbed his arm and dragged him out.  Now, the reporter says he continued approx. 15-20 yards after the cop told him to stop and was holding on to his car; so if you meant stop his car earlier I'd agree.  Taking 20 yards to stop has to be what led to the 3rd degree assault of an officer; which seems like a huge stretch to me.

Wait, and please understand that I take this from the perspective of a LEO, and have myself been involved in a number of situations that i can directly relate to.

An officer who is preventing others from being injured by someone that is driving through a diverted traffic pattern, who does his job by trying to stop the vehicle, is being a jerk?  

I'm not saying we don't have officers who are not, but Scottie disregarded a lawful order, several times, and continued to drive up to the gates, with an officer attached to his vehicle! He is fortunate his reckless actions didn't cause someone else to be seriously hurt or worse.  He is actually very fortunate that more aggressive and LEGAL tactics were not deployed to stop the vehicle.

Reporter this morning said he sat in his car 20-30 seconds after being told to get out.. Who knows, rumors flying everywhere but none of the rumors I've heard justify an arrest..cop should've never had his arm in a car unless he was trying to intimidate

They were probably allowed to enter as scene safety would dictate, and they had probably cleared cars and in a limited capacity.

That’s possible but the report says they were waived through when the seen the player markings on the car as they were already passing the scene.

Come on, man - if you didn't know that the "jerk" part is the huge escalation by the cop over what really comes down to a simple misunderstanding where Scheffler thought the officer was just security; then I don't know what to tell you.  You're also making it sound like he was travelling at some type of speed; from the reporter that witnessed it he makes it sound like he was going like 5mph.  His "continuing to drive" was initially said by that reporter to be 5-10 yards; on his later interviews he is saying 20 yards.  

Also on the initial descriptions by that reporter, he said that cop was screaming obscenities at Scheffler, who only responded with a calm voice.  Yeah - I'm going to take Scheffler's side on this.
