Would type out everything but it's in my sig ;) There is, however, 1 club in the bag that is not. I bring it with me wherever I go play - but never use it. It is my Dad's custom made (by his older brother) 7 wood. It was his favorite club and I bring it with me so that every time I play - he's with me :)

My Dad was an all around great athlete. He won at everything he played. He was an exceptional golfer but sadly, I never got to see him play in his prime. I do have a few memories of him coming out and hitting some balls but shortly after he fell ill and wasn't able to play. I miss him dearly. I wish he was here to help me with my mistakes. So far, without a doubt, my biggest regret has been not taking a liking to golf at an earlier age and playing with him.

Great tribute Brodeur.

I use to carry a hickory shafted putter that was my Grandfather's.......he even took it to Africa for 2 years when he was building sawmills.  When i accidentally scratched the shaft, I removed it from my bag.  Now, it is displayed on the wall of my office at home.  A constant reminder of the man that taught me this wonderful game.

That is a great post. If you look on my profile at the end of my posts and you see the vintage set those CF 4000s were my Dad's. He gave them to me after the last round we played together. I also have his last putter which is a Golfcraft mallet. I also have his Macgregor M-85 driver but I don't hit it

Just curious is it an old Northwestern or was it a custom built head?

Very nice bag.  I love the tribute.  I carry a ball marker and a ball that was my late father-in-laws; he would drive 1.5 hour each way twice a week so we could play together.

Thanks for sharing JB.  It is memories like that that make you realize just how precious Life is.   My Father played, before I was born.....so it was my Grandfather that recruited me to pull his cart every Saturday.  He is the one that I remember every time I play.

Off the top of my head, no. I believe it's a DAIWA. I know the shaft is an Aldila shaft in firm flex. As you can imagine, I don't take it out of my bag. Actually, I took it out when I played the club championship just so I wouldn't get disqualified (but put a picture of him in one of my pockets) ;)  I'll get the rest of the specs and some pics on it posted tomorrow

My aoplogies. I think he had others that were Daiwa. This one says "Hi Selector". My Uncle (who was the first of the 4 brothers to pass away) built these clubs for him around 1990. When he was winning his club championships, he was using Titleist clubs. Actually, my older brother still uses my Dad's old Titleist bullseye putter. Check out the shaft? Made in the U.S.A. when things were made with quality not like today. Anyways, enjoy the pics and if anyone knows what model the shaft and any info on the head would be cool to know. By the way, the lampkin grip is the original grip :)

As for my avatar, yes that is me. My younger bro snapped that while I was at the Taylormade tent swinging a white SLDR. My swing is on that day. The pro was watching me with a few other members and I could hear him telling the others that I was hitting the ball just like someone "casting" a fishing rod. The balls flew high and straight swing after swing.

Yep I believe that is what is called a composite head which is fine. That Aldila shaft is a low torque and it has some kick to it actually I liked that shaft. Looking at those pics I would say the 7 wood and shaft are late 80 early 90s vintage.

That would make sense since his brother passed away in 1991 and he had built the set before that obviously. Pretty cool to see the technology of the day back then. It's my only regret in life. Not learning or picking up the sport at an earlier age.

  • 4 months later...

Made some changes since last time I posted my bag so I thought I'd update my pics a little. I came from Burner 2.0's and wanted some irons that were a little more player like so that I could learn to shot shape as well as a forged feel. Although they felt nice, I had lost at least 2 club lengths and I wasn't ready to give up that much distance so I sold them for some Cobra S3 Pros.

The S3 Pros were nice, really nice. I had picked up all the distance I had lost from the burner's with the S3 pros but the feel was not as soft as I wanted and after a rough night at the simulators, I got pissed and threw everything on ebay. After a few days of calming down, I completely regretted doing that. It was childish of me to do so but I put a lot of pressure on myself and expect myself to play at a certain level. Anyways, was getting ready to take everything down and someone contacted me and made me an offer I couldn't refuse so I sold the Mizuno wedges and the Cobra Irons.

I started reading up on some solid, cavity back forged irons and a name that kept popping up was Wilson Staff FG Tour V2's. So I started reading up on them, everything I could find and my mind was blown away. I must have read 10-15 reviews and not ONE said a bad thing about them. I was shocked. Could I actually play Wilson Staff's? I started hunting on the bay and landed on some sweet V2's from 3i to pw for $250. I couldn't resist so I bought them. Took them out and started hitting them fat. The Grips were almost jumbo sized (and I've used midsized grips before) These were much bigger. My brother got me a bday present and bought me some Golf Pride Tour Velvets and I went to get them re-gripped.The guy re-gripping them called me up and told me that someone had put 4 rolls of tape under the grips...and added a 1/2 extension! I told him to take the extension out and no rolls of tape underneath and now I hit them much better (still got a draw problem though hoping to fix in my swing). Here's something I couldn't believe though. I am hitting them as far or farther than the burner 2.0's! My 5 iron for my bruner's went about 200 and now I hit them 205-210 and can crank it to 225 when the swing and draw are perfect. These irons feel every bit as good as all the reviews said (including here too of course) and couldn't be happier to have them in my bag.

The wedges I got lucky on. They had them at a Sportcheck in Fredericton and I was able to try them on trackman. The trackman was not reading the spin rates properly because it would tell me I only got 2000-3000 rpms and the ball on the screen would sit and back up lol so I knew something was wrong. Needless to say I liked the feel and knew these would be great. Hit the bay once again and found a guy who had the 52,56,60 set for sale with the same shafts as my irons. Made him an offer and bought them for $90 (all 3). Put them on the simulator I play at and with the prov1x, I was getting over 10,700 rpms. I'm surprised more people aren't playing these wedges. Everyone raves about the Cleveland wedges and Roger Cleveland is the guy behind those wedges and now works for Callaway lol.

My putter....my putter's unique to me. I was looking for something with a nice milled face, about 340g in weight and wanted something no one else around here had. I basically wanted a Scotty Cameron without the price lol and this is what I got. Simply amazed by this putter. The Superstroke 2.0 slim grip keeps my hands quiet and forces me to rock my shoulders so my putts stay mainly online.

Overall, I'm happy with this setup. I've still got to fix my swing though but everything feels great! :)
