PlaidJacket
I'd like to make a suggestion to everyone. In your MGS profile (MY Settings) there is a place to input your current handicap. A lot of people do. I'd like to further suggest that everyone update their handicap after each revision. I just did mine. In Texas our GHIN is revised on the 1st and 15th of each month. I understand your local USGA Association might only update monthly. Why does it matter? It doesn't really. But, knowing a member's handicap allows for estimating their skill level or current playing ability. I use mine as a visual reminder of where I am and where I want to be. I'm trying to get down to a 5.5 by year end. The update I just posted today shows a 6.1 down from 6.2. Zzzzzzzz. Getting close unless I get in my way. BIG STU
I don't play comps any more and the matches I do play we are playing teams so a lot of times we do gimmies if say my 3 footer is for par and my partner makes birdie. But my golf director rates me still at a 5 on the mid tees and a 1 on the senior tees. On our games either him or the Miura dealer make the teams and games and we adjust for travel on both games and tees. It comes out ok the teams always seem equal and the action is always close. But for all practical purposes I can shoot between 70 to 75 on a 6500 course at sea level so I guess I am a 5 still. Sometimes I can blow up and shoot 80 to 84 too. hckymeyer
Ended the season at 5.1. Our handicap posting time is dormant from Nov 1 until April 1 so I'll be staying here until next year. Should get a nice bump upwards at the start of next season because the next score to fall off is a 74 and the odds of shooting that during the first two weeks of next season are pretty damn slim. Kenny B
Here under the WSGA, we post scores from March 1 until November 15. I usually bounce between 9.0 and 10.0. Even though I had a 71 last weekend, yesterday my index went from 9.5 to 10.0 because I had several scores in the mid 80's. I've got 12 days to shoot a few low scores to get back to 9. revkev
Actually Theo has made great progress since he started. While it will serve him well in the long run he's actually hurt by the fact that he's fairly long right now. Too many penalty strokes. That will change and then he'll be kicking all of our you know what's. I will check the latest revision when I go to the club later this week. They put out a list every 1st and 15th. I was a 5.1 last revision so mine is right. I've been between 4.7 and 6.7 since May. The good news/bad news is that I will have a bunch of lower scores coming off - the 69 from last December stays for a year (tournament.)
