MDGolfHacker
That place never disappoints Was there a few weeks ago. Greens were running like ice. Did you do East, West, Central? Yep, did the East West loop, then had lunch in the gentleman's lounge. Great menu too..hade the pokey salad. We drove up from MD (about a 3 1/2 drive up and a 4 hour and some change drive back in the same day). Ice is right. Can't tell you how man three putts I had. Part of the problem was that parts of the East West courses had different green speeds due to the compilation of holes from each of the 9s for the upcoming tour tournament and part was the undulations from tillinghast's design... tommc23
Played a fun but hard course today at Jack Frost National. It was a rainy day in the course and the greens were constantly changing. Had to stop playing for a little due to thunder and lightening. In the one picture there was so much moisture from the rain that you can see the line my putt when on which was cool. MDGolfHacker East, West has the most challenging holes imo. Good choice. Food is good there also I used to live in Anne Arundel County and have done the back and forth in a day drive. I feel for you on that part. 3 putt is my average on those greens lol. Really need to practice by the clubhouse for a good while before going out to get a feel for it. Glad you made it up to experience it. Now you have to get back for the Northern Trust! revkev
Alright here are a few fro today's round. Here's a selfie at the third for my friend - it's a selfie because I played by myself. I don't recall the last time that I played a regulation golf course by myself - the par 3, often, but not a regular 18 hole course much less Bayou. At least two years. Here's my shot of the day - 154 up hill, into the wind, 6 iron. The reward was getting to play this hole next. And for my new friend the Swagman the surfaces were pristine Bermuda. JohnSmalls
Played a new course with a buddy from college this morning and I missed my first hole-out Eagle by inches. My group gets to 16, hit one of my few good drives which left about 105 out, played a 52 degree wedge a few inches past and about 2 inches left of the cup, and to my amazement I had a ball roll back about 12 ft, just missing the cup on the roll back. The yellow line takes you to my ball in the red circle, ended up two putting for par. The rest of the round was an absolute train wreck. Kor.A.Door
Here are a few images from today on the course. Our club is finally dealing with our terrible bunkers- in the past, any time we had any rain we would have washouts, swimming pools, and just unplayable conditions. Finally, after arguing for several years, we have convinced the membership to invest in the Better Billy Bunker System. If you are unfamiliar with this, the process involves removing the existing sand, digging out about 6-10 inches of dirt and installing some french drains, then laying down a 4 inch layer of pea gravel. The pea gravel is then coated with an epoxy, which holds the gravel in place, but remains totally porous. New sand is then laid down over the gravel (4-6 inches) and the result is that you have a bunker which is playable in almost any rain, and dries out minutes after a deluge. In some of our bunkers, the water would stand for days and the maintenance crews needed to use pumps. Something to do with the clay soil around here. Anyway, we are slowly getting the BBB treatment, YEA!!! Sorry for the double post, but could not get the photos to post properly, and since this is all about the images... This is how our deeper bunkers look during the fall to spring months. Nothing but standing water and wash outs, unplayable doesn't begin to describe them, and when playing tournaments your screwed unless they make a local rule.
