I missed posting last week's debacle (95...stab me in the freaking eyeballs, please), but know it was ugly (though I DID hit a 298 yard drive, which I'm pretty sure is my long drive of the year...?).  I missed three weeks straight, and then followed it up with a nightmare, so here's hoping Friday's round a) is more enjoyable, and b) lives up to being my last round of 2022 Thanks again for putting this together - excited to see what everyone posts!

Today was a game of hot or cold, fire or ice.  Blew up quite a few holes for no good reason, including a second shot punch out on the first hole between a wide opening between some firs that instead decided to take a launch to the right and roll right into the water.  But then got a few pars, a few bogies, and a natural eagle on #16!  It all balanced out in the end, but had two chip in holes, a few that came darn close and a couple of decent tee shots.  Worth it in the end, even with a 5 putt on a par three.  Kept messing around with the ball return on #13.

Hoping I can walk away with the most net birdies on this one, as I have a few net eagles and a net albatross!

I actually managed to get the 12:12 tee time also.  Love date games, got to play at 12:12 on 12/12 for the 12th week.

Hey all!  

I have been sidetracked the past few weeks with some work and family priorities but I'm hoping that is behind me soon and I can get back to the REAL important stuff like....  The MGS FORUM!!  And playing some golf!  I haven't picked up the sticks in almost 3 weeks (I know, I know, you guys in the northern states are playing the world's smallest violin for me... ). But I'm hoping to get at least one round in this week, and a several more by the end of the year (I wonder if my wife would mind me sneaking out to the course on Christmas day???).  

I hope everyone is getting ready for the holidays and also planning to play a little golf.  Since Christmas is near and tends to be filled with family and friends (maybe not as much on the course), I was thinking about running a Happy New Year tournament similar to the Turkey Shoot... so stay tuned for that announcement... Another team event would be fun... start building your teams now!!

Meanwhile... post those scores this week... @Mr. Mushball is leading the charge in all awards categories at the moment... will there be any challengers???

Uninspired Bogey-ish golf on the front.  The back nine was strange in that I either doubled or pared each hole.  Finished up with four straight pars to give me hope for Saturday's round!

Not my best day of putting (with 30 overall with several makable putts lipping out), but 6 up and downs impressed my playing partners.

If you’ve played at the Paiute, you know that it is almost always windy out there. It’s actually really annoying because the facilities are next level but a calm day rarely happens out there. Today was no exception. Fast greens and roughly 20mph winds are not a good combo. It did help me get a 304 yard drive though! I’m sure that won’t hold up for long drive but it was still something for me.

Did you play both of the test balls?  Curious what you find works better in the wind.

I actually didn’t play with either of them. Paiute is pretty treacherous and I didn’t want to risk losing any. I should have used one of them for the wind testing but I didn’t. I am working on some spin number for the V1X/348 balls and then my test will be complete.

What would be correct? By the way guys I used Proto 348 for entire round. This round pushed my handicap to 9.2 equaling my lowest all time. Question is can I go lower?

(Most likely) My last round of the year, and despite starting with a double (which...I do a LOT, I've realized), I played pretty well.  Made at least 4 long par-putts (sadly no natural birdies today) outside of 12', which felt pretty great.  First time playing this course - LOVED it. It was winterized (dormant grass in fairways), which is pretty rare around SoCal (at least in my experience), but the greens were FIRE. Easily the fastest greens I've ever played, and I couldn't believe how true they rolled - really loved it.  My playing partners, luckily for me, did not, lol.  

It was a great way to end the year - beating my two regular buddies, but more importantly playing with confidence.  I look at that 87 and can so easily see 4/5 strokes disappearing just by making better decisions, so breaking 80 is 100% attainable for next year.  

Thanks again for making this "tournament" such a great part of the end of the year.  Looking forward to seeing everyone's progress over next year!

You were -5 nett score, so you made at least 5 nett birdies, maybe more.

I played a round today, but don't feel the need to post it.  It was a terrible showing, but still a fun day out.  The course ate everyone who came out today, everyone who I talked to out there was having the worst play of the year.  There was a ton good about it though.  If I wasn't so tired I'd post some photos, maybe in the coming days.

Sometimes it's more about just getting out there and enjoying the course and less about actually playing golf. I've had a few of those lately too.

The MGS Forum Members continue to remind me how much I need to dedicate myself to the Speed Training Challenge!!  300+ yard drives are the norm in this competition... and this week @Blueberry_Squishie tops all drives with a 323 yarder.

Hey MM.  If you double click on your picture in "edit" mode, you can reduce the size of the image.  I went to you thread and reduced from ~900 to 500 as an example... but you can make it any size you want.  Sorry for taking so long to respond...

I finally had a drive that I thought had a chance at taking home a badge but then @Blueberry_Squishie did his usual thing of just spanking my behind with his long drives. I’m going to need him to have a medical issue to have a shot at this thing. Well done, Blue.

Thanks, mate. The course has firmed up a lot so we're now getting about 40 yards on the ground too. Got 1 at 302m today (about the only thing I did well today).
