Popular Post Byrnzee
Good morning all! Little bit late posting today due to getting an early round in this morning. Woke up at 4:45am to get on the road to a course called Shepard's Crook in Zion, IL (basically on the border of Wisconsin) for a 6:30 tee time. Always nice to get an early round in and have the rest of the day left to relax. Ended up playing pretty well honestly! I'll post more in the How Did You Play thread shortly, but the weather was lovely, course conditions were perfect and I was very happy with the round. Also was given a ticket for a free Italian Beef sub after the round, which was delicious! Excited to catch some moving day action at the US Open today! Rooting for either Ludvig or Rory to take it this weekend. Wouldn't mind seeing Tony get one too. Hope everyone has a great Saturday and hit 'em straight! Popular Post JFish350
Good Morning Folks Wine tasting, Grad parties, and US Open are my schedule today. Made myself sleep in til 6am. Coffee done, Us Open on, and unnecessary Amazon shopping done. Was able to get out this week for 9 holes with the wife and son (25) who doesn't p[lay much. I was about ready to sell my Titleist 1 iron. I put it in his bag. Dang kid can stroke that club. His best shot with it was on a par 4 that is roughly 312 to the middle of the green. One iron to 10 yards short of the green, Proud dad moment for sure. I wish I could get him out more, he's not bad and could be decent if he practiced a little and would take some instruction. Next hole was a 145 yard par 3 with wind in the face. grabs the pitching wedge and asks if he can make the green. I'm like, I have a 9 and not sure as the wind was about club worth. Dang kid drops it to 10' under the hole. SOOO fun to watch. Have a great day and Happy Early Fathers day to the Dads and granddads. buckpillar, TK_, cksurfdude and 11 others 14 Quote Sub 70 949 D 9* HZRUDS 60G 6.5 smoke RDX shaft. Popular Post William P
Good late Saturday morning/ish Spies! A little late to the party today due to major yardwork day... Started early but required a few "hydration breaks", as @Dead Solid Bogey would suggest or mandate due to the heat. A little over three hours for the usual, edge, mow and trim. Also had to do the sprinkler system check with the demise of rainy season, and wouldn't you know it there were 2 busted risers... All is repaired and in proper working order now. Great new testing opportunity with Vice Irons as they venture into the club side of the industry with a very nice looking offering. Great pictures Rob, @Rob Person! Also, great pics of the kids Jason, @GolfSpy_KFT! Like you mentioned could definitely be trouble in the making... Everyone have a great day leading into Father's Day. If you get the opportunity to play or practice, enjoy and hit 'em well. Popular Post Indy_Oz
Good afternoon Spies! Narrowly avoided a full-blown migraine last night, but woke up feeling groggy with the stock migraine hangover. So I figured the best thing to do was get some fresh air and make the pre-arranged 0740 tee time to play a 9-hole round with friends this morning.lol. Took a while to shake off the grogginess and I started hitting the ball better after a few holes. Nice to get out while the air was feeling fresher and before the day really warmed up. I dropped into the local Golf Galaxy after lunch. First time picking up the Lab DF3 putter. I tried the DF2.1 in the past and didn't much like the feel and sound off the face, but the DF3... well, that thing rolls the ball REALLY nicely. Now I see what the fuss is about! Unfortunately, there are 450 reasons why one won't be going in my bag any time soon (and I'd want a proper fitting first). But damn I was impressed. The latest gen drivers are making their way into the used rack in greater numbers now. Ping G430 Max 10K, Callaway Ai Smoke TD and stock and Taylormade Qi10 Plus. The Ai Smoke TD 9* with XS shaft was closest to my spec, so gave that and a TSR3 a few swings in their hitting bays. Just for shits and giggles. No intent on replacing the G430LST any time soon. The Ai Smoke TD Max would be fun to try though. Exercising much restraint, all I left with was the golf glove I went into GG for. Shocking, I know. Have a great weekend all! Popular Post EasyPutter
Good morning MGSpies from a sunny and quiet, after the rush of yesterday's busy part of the weekend that started immediately after work Friday, on this Sunday And Happy Fathers Day to all especially you Dads who know how to rock it Friday after work began the support to the Performing Arts Studio business of the extended family with setting up for the annual recitals, run as Broadway style shows usually in 2 acts of about 15 performances of dancing, acting, singing and often combination them. Just like a theater, tickets sales are online as are programs now with QR code, lobby run by yours truly with other family help, to support ushers so there is no movement during performances and any entry exit happens between numbers. Lighting, sound, music, and stage operations complete the experience with a volunteer army of parents helping with backstage support for children costumes, supervision, and organization. Now in their 22nd year locally (3 years in Lancaster PA when they created their idea of what a performing arts studio should be for children and young adults) they need 4 shows to showcase all the students and their accomplishments, many graduates have gone on to performance education and careers. I am blessed to be involved each year with the recital weekend as I have been for 22 years. Friday setup was followed by 7pm performance to be home by 10pm, Saturday first show was at noon, with 3rd and final show at 7pm. Take down is all done immediately following the last finale, everything packed into a fleet of family vehicles transported back to the studio and a 19th hole "we did it" conversation ensues about things that happened with everyone's experience before home for rest. In the middle of all that, was up early yesterday to volunteer for the 4th annual PGA REACH Foundation's fundraising run on the nearest bike path with various distances for participants and my contribution was with setup of the start/finish and being present and representing. Past years I went to the road crossings to assist the longer distance runners to assure safety and provide runner support for water, taking things from them so they did not have to carry them back to finish line and such. With the recitals, as soon as the runners were all on course, my focus moved to family with great thanks for arriving early to help move what was needed to the Start/Finish. Family pool party afternoon today, have to get last edit on a review, and I do hope golf is a part of your day Edited June 16 by EasyPutter readability Byrnzee, rkj427, Preeway and 16 others 18 1 Quote Derek Verified Hack, ~21 handicap Golf for exercise and peace of mind. Leaning long sleeve. The new irons and wedges are in the bag ready for action. No range session or break-in. Just right to the course. I won my age group once -- when I was the only one in it. I think my two best running accomplishments were qualifying for Boston (the hardest thing I've ever done) and finishing fourth in the season standings for my age group in the state grand prix. Which was a matter of just showing up on a lot of Saturday mornings for a whole year. However, if I can ever break 80 for 18 holes (The Cradle doesn't count; I shot 63 there), that may replace my BQ as the hardest thing I've ever done. Or maybe it will be passing this test in 10 days. Good morning and happy Father's Day to those who qualify, Spies! My Father's Day got off to a riproaring start -- one cat threw up on me at 3 a.m., the other bit my arm a few minutes later. It's getting better though -- GF is making me an amazing breakfast as I type this, blueberry/strawberry pancakes and bacon. More studying and the Open later on, and hopefully will get in a Rypstick workout. But the bleeping test has me in panic mode, to be honest. Inspired by @GolfSpy_APH I did a tournament preview last night of my first Scottish tournament at Royal Dornoch in 20 days (not that I'm counting) with hole by hole diagrams and commentary, to be updated when I actually play the tournament. It's on the 19th Hole if you're interested. Royal Dornoch preview Edited June 17 by ILMgolfnut MattWillGolf, Kenny B, Josh Parker and 12 others 15 Quote Obsessed with chasing the dimpled orb. Popular Post sirchunksalot
Good morning and happy Father's Day to those of you who are celebrating! I hope your day is filled with family time and maybe some golf. Yesterday was a good day for me. I was able to get out to the range for a little practice before my Wednesday round. We also got out and went to a local food establishment for some soft serve ice cream after dinner. My wife and I were sitting outside yesterday evening and she mentioned how she'd like to go to Shake Shack (not the chain) and get some. I had told her that would be fun to do when I get on summer shutdown. The more I thought about it, the more I wanted it so I made the decision to go. Whatever your day brings, I hope it's a good one. bens197, buckpillar, Byrnzee and 16 others
Popular Post Wheelieb
Morning All, Happy Fathers day to you all. May you all have a great day. I am going to attempt to get out today to play today. But a lot of the morning tee times have been taken, so may get out in the afternoon. Going to help the wife get our Hot tub up and running again, which means carrying it out of the garage and onto the back porch. It’s an inflatable one, before anyone asks. It actually works really well. I’ll keep it short today.
