Popular Post Kenny B
Good Morning everyone! No golf, but my wife and I are headed to Pendleton Oregon in 30 minutes to watch the Epson Tour Ladies tournament at Wildhorse GC. Tickets are only $5. I love this course and it’s reasonably inexpensive to play, but it’s 75 minutes away. Should be lots of fun. We’ve been to two LPGA majors, one in Rancho Mirage CA, and one at Sahalee north of Seattle. Also, been to the Champions Tour PGA at Sahalee and the PGA at La Quinta and TPC Scottsdale. We will see how the young (and older) Ladies play today! Best of luck if you are playing today!! Popular Post Jim Shaw
Good morning spy's Well my, "what the f**k is going on with my golf game" week continues today with a trip to the Pro.. It has been an interesting 3 months for sure, however this past week I really put my mind to figuring out the issues. There has been signs of improvement, actually quite a few however when I critique my round in the quiet of the evening I seque to the missed shots. I will have to get over that, I have hope and realize it has only been 4 days since my last lesson so I need to get over my need to rush the process and stick with the advice I have been given. It has been close for 4 years for renovations and we are excited to have it back in action. It just reopened last week. Have a great day everyone. Hard to imagine keeping it closed for 4 years, although I guess that means they started as covid was ramping up. It's hard to reflect on how much life has changed because of covid. As for me, I haven't been able to focus on my own game much the last month or two. I have several things to work on with my swing and it is just taking repetitions to get consistency with strike while incorporating the changes. It makes for frustrating course time some days. And I really need to dedicate time to my putting, as that will lower my score quicker than anything else I'm working on. But I have gotten my wife and kids playing golf which has been great. Gradually filled out their sets of clubs and now needing to figure out new bags. Meanwhile, the basement is looking like a small and very disorganized golf store. Plan to play Sunday with my wife and our neighbors. Last time we played this challenging course, my wife mostly skipped the difficult holes and just scoured the bushes, collecting about 2 dozen golf balls. I think she enjoys that more than playing. I played mediocre but atrocious putting led to my worst round of the year. It still was a great time especially as we had absolutely perfect weather. Popular Post snoopy79
Good Morning MGS forum folk, Watching the St.Jude in the background while I work and looking forward to the weekend. I am taking my neighbors elderly mother out for 9 holes on Sunday. She was an avid golfer at the local CC (she had some old B/W photos she showed me) and she hasn't been in a long time. Popular Post GolfSpy_KFT
Good morning spies and happy Friday! Had the day off yesterday to spend some time with my aunt and uncle and their two girls. They are only 8 years older than me (my mom is the oldest and my aunt the youngest) and their girls are near the same age as our boys, so it is always fun to get together. Since our boys don't have any first cousins, it's nice to have them so close. We went to an indoor adventure park with go karts, high ropes, arcade games, bowling, laser tag, etc. and had a great time. Spent an hour on the range this morning as it is going to get hot and humid today, but wanted to get one more practice session in before our club championship tomorrow. I had arguably the best ball striking day of my life with irons, hybrid and fairway woods. I was working on hitting to targets and envisioning greens on the course to allow for an acceptable landing area. If I can replicate that tomorrow, I should have a pretty solid day. Driver, however, was a different story. Toe miss after toe miss. I think I am getting into some old early extension habits as my impact location was extremely consistent. Just not where I want it to be on the club face. I am confident I will get back to center strikes. Biggest revelation has been the striking of my 52 and 56 snakebite wedges...vastly improved. A much needed boost going into this weekend's tournament. I will tee off on #10 and we are the first group off the back at 8:00. The championship flight is going off the front, so it will be nice to be able to set the pace for the round. I am playing with one gentleman I know and the other I have not yet met, but we are all 15 handicaps. Should be a fun morning. I also got my GT fitting booked for the long game test, and booked an SM10 fitting for myself afterwards. I've never been fit into a wedge before, so more or less just wanting to try it. If I end up really liking them or see better performance than the snakebites, I'll more than likely pull the trigger and order them. Lots of life left in my current wedges but they are a little harsh even on well struck shots and there's just something about a Vokey Hope everyone has great end to the week! rkj427, Cfhandyman, EnderinAZ and 14 others 17 Quote Driver: GT3 9|Tour AD-UB 6S (testing in progress) Fairways: GT2 15 & 18|Tour AD-UB 7S (testing in progress) | Aerojet Max 7|Kai'Li White 70X Hybrid: King TEC 3H|MCA MMT 85g Stiff Irons: Aerojet 6-GW|KBS $-taper Lite Stiff Wedges: Vokey SM10 52.12F|56.12D|True Temper Vokey Wedge Flex Putter: Super Select Newport 2.0 Ball: Tour & ProV1 #LeftyGang Titleist GT Long Game Test (Link Here) Cobra 50th Anniversary Member Special Challenge (link here)

I do play the Lady Bridgestone or Lady Srixons some especially when playing the persimmons. I had quite a stash of Srixon and Wilson balls won in the 9& dines and Saturday Shootouts. They quit giving away balls in those events some time ago and instead give away cheap wine. I do not drink wine period and rarely even drink beer anymore so I quit playing those events. IMHO they have evolved into one big drunkfest which I do not care for. In reality I do not have enough SS where a ball makes any difference and have lost a lot of feel so really it does not make much difference on putting and short game. Saturdays now days I play Hickory golf with my wife up on the little Par3 and sometimes we have a little informal group that plays Hickory clubs too. We have a blast and do not have to put up with the loud drunken slobs. Even though my retirement is not exactly like I envisioned I am able to play most days and doing the best I can with my battered body so I am thankful Yup, I also have “eased” out of the drunken 9 & 18 over the last few years. Figured it was just me getting old & cranky. The Hickory club thing has not canon around here but I could get into it on Execs. Of course left hand clubs could be a problem. Popular Post EnderinAZ
Good morning spies! Running the game again today. Probably will set it up so we count 2 out of 3 on the front and 3 of 3 on the back. That makes it quick for me to do the scoring. I need it to be quicker as it is supposed to top 110 all weekend so my wife and I are heading to the mountain retreat for a few days. Wednesdays cha cha cha (score 1 player on hole 1, 2 on 2, 3 on 3 and repeat) was a bust for my team. One of my players says he has memory problems and called his score out low for the first 4 holes. I pulled him aside and told him that will not do. If he keeps it up I will disqualify him (and consequently the whole team) and suddenly he kept his score right. He cheats simple as that. For the last year we have constantly told him to stop. Now next week when all of the guys who work and run our group get together two of us are going to insist we boot him out. It costs 15 bucks to get in the game and 5 to get in the skins. We play 3 times a week and average 20 players a day. That is 400 dollars in payout back to the players. In the first half of this year we took in and put back out over thirteen thousand dollars and this cheater took home about a thousand of those dollars. It is time for that to end. Popular Post Erin B
Found this from Golfing Humor. Thought you’d enjoy it. "The Driver’s Revenge" I stood on the tee with a confident grin, Ready to drive the ball straight in. I swung that club with all my might, But the ball shot off in a wild flight. To the left, to the right, where would it go? Only my driver could truly know. It took a hard turn, right into the trees, Where it found a new home among the leaves. “Not again!” I groaned, “You’re messing with me!” But the driver just chuckled, as happy as can be. “You think you’re in charge?” it seemed to say, “But I’m the one who’ll decide where we play!” I teed up again, determined and tough, But the ball dribbled off, just a little puff. Straight into the pond, with a splash so clear, I swear I heard that driver sneer. I lined up my shot, and I gave it a whack, But the ball took off with a slice and a crack. It veered to the right, and then took a dive, Right into a bunker, where dreams don’t survive. “That’s it!” I shouted, “You win this round! But next time, driver, you’re going down!” But as I walked off, I heard a faint cheer— My driver was plotting to ruin next year. So now when I tee off, I do it with care, Knowing my driver’s a trickster in there. But one day I’ll master that devilish club, Until then, it’s just me and the pub! Popular Post BIG STU
Ok pretty decent day for me golf wise. We ended up playing 3 man teams 2 balls low net and the team birdie pool. We broke even on the game but our team won the birdie pool because I had 2 birdies. So I was all of $5 richer today. Even with 2 birdies my score was not stellar. Ended up with an 85 off of a 10 index for the day. Made a couple of equipment changes today. Pulled the 52 and put my old dependable 588 56* back in. Also pulled the Zing 2 and put the Rusty Scotty Santa Fe in. Rusty is a story within itself. I found the thing on a scrap pile at work. The sole is very pitted. The shaft was rusted darn near in two pieces. I soaked it in Coke and white vinegar than wiped it down with motor oil. Put a fluted Bulls Eye shaft in it. I had checked in with Scotty and to refinish it would require it to be machined down and lose weight plus cost me about $350. My bud the Miura dealer (now retired) had a hook up at Scotty. He sent them pictures and the guy he dealt with recognized the pics someone had sent him a year before. we theorized someone found it in a pond and wanted to refinish it until the price was presented. We think they said screw it and scrapped it. I am not a spit and polish guy anyhow and it works fine for me. It has a nicknames around this end of the beach as "That rusty SOB Scotty", "Junkpile Refugee". I have had it for like 10 years now. @JohnSmalls can back me up on this because he has seen it in person a couple of times. What was funny this morning when they cut the greens they did not use a whipping pole to get the loose grass off. We literally had to clear the line of a putt. when we made the turn I stopped by the water hose and hosed grass out of the cavity. The bag drop/starter guy who is a great friend saw me. He asked WTF? Stuey. I told him and he said how in the he double hockey sticks could anyone tell if there was grass up in that rusty thing? He told someone else I was creating more rust. When the round was finished it got hosed down again and dried with WD 40 put on it as I did my old 588 which is just as rusty. My starter bud quipped you have had that brand new bag a month now and you can see rust spots on the inner liner where those 2 clubs ride. Me I do not care on the bag. Disclaimer my stuff is old but it is wiped down after every shot and I keep new cord grips on them which are scrubbed weekly. The Scotty has a SS 2XL and it gets wiped down only. Nothing wrong with being prim and proper and shiny but it is just not my cup of tea. And I know when @JohnSmalls sees this he will chuckle and say he knew all along that Rusty Relic would be back in my bag. Yeah he gets put in time out but always comes back. Planted it in the middle of a 100* day in my yard and now (near 10yrs later) its almost the tallest one IN my yard. This is for you though: LOL glad to see you also survived the ride in the Cavalier. When I was in the towing business I had this lady dispatcher who worked part time. She also worked at the Waffle House. She had a Cavalier she had since new. Now she was from Cleveland Ohio and that poor thing has spent it's life up there. Needless to say it was a rust bucket. She called me one day crying said her car was broke at the Waffle House. I said ok I will come get it. Yeah broke was an understatement. It had literally rusted in two and folded up right behind the Driver's seat. She was pulling into the Waffle House to begin her shift. She had pulled down the side street and it broke. To give her credit she did have the presence of mind since it was front wheel drive to stand on it and get it off the street. Of course I drug it on the roll back and took it to the yard. She went on to work and I told her when she got off of shift to call the yard and have someone come get her and take her home. She got her stuff out of it the next day and we took it to the scrap yard. She ended up buying some kind of fancy Ford Escort. Every time someone mentions a Cavalier, I think of that. sirchunksalot, Old New Golfer, EasyPutter and 7 others 10 Quote Driver ---- Callaway Big Bertha Alpha Speeder 565 R flex- - 7W TM V-Steel UST Pro Force Gold 65R---- Irons 5 thru PW 1980 Macgregor VIP Hogan Apex steel shafts--- SW -- Cleveland 588 56* S-400 Sensicore --- LW Vokey 58* SM5 L grind--- Putter 1997 Scotty Cameron Santa Fe Fluted Bulls Eye shaft--- Bag TM Flex Lite Stand---- Yeah I know only 11 clubs G

Yeah this was an Iowa car too lol. Its why I ended up dumping it. Powersteering rack was failing and leaking badly. Look up video to see what a repair entails. I find a video on how to do it. It was TWO 30min edited for time videos by a professional mechanic. I took one look at that said, NOPE. You had to drop the front subframe and well... the previously mentioned rust bucket state it came from that wasnt gonna happen easily. So I sold it to my neighbor for 250 for spare parts for his wifes sunfire (same damn car). think it had north of 220k on it and was also burning more than a qt of oil between changes. sirchunksalot, BIG STU, Byrnzee and 6 others 9 Quote Driver - Sim2Max 10.5° (set at 9*) UST Helium shaft 3W - StealthHL 16.5° 3h - Sim2max 19° irons - Sim2OS kbsmax85mt steel shafts reg flex 5i-Aw wedgies - Jaws MD5 52°-10° (Bounce) S Grind Jaws MD5 56°-12° (Bounce) W Grind Putter - Mizuno OMOI Type II VENTUS Velocore+ review Stack Referral code Final Sugar "Pure" Golf Balls Review

Popular Post Wib081
Good afternoon MGS! Man today got away from me, feels like I just sat down with my coffee 20 min ago. Not much going on here other than my son found a bird in the yard that tumbled out of its nest. I went washed hands and arms opened a fresh pair of work gloves and put the poor lil thing back in the nest hopefully the mama doesn't abandoned them. We are prepared to dig up worms and feed them small enough bites according to my boys lol. The coolest thing was the lil bird had no fear I gently scooped it up and all it did was open its mouth wide and squeak at me for food! Fingers crossed the mother keeps on being the mother, but a small part of me wants a little bird side kick . @Rickp That must've been a good time watching that loading show there! I know I would've done the same as you snapped pics and watched over a cup of coffee. Old New Golfer, BIG STU, rkj427 and 10 others 13 Quote I’ve got a bad feeling about this. That sounds like fun. I really liked Wildhorse GC the year we had it in our PNW Spy Meetup itinerary. fixyurdivot
5 hours ago, EnderinAZ said: Good morning spies! Ack...another morning rant... That's really unfortunate. It seems to me that the more money involved, the more likely players will suffer memory failures or be temporarily math challenged . Our games are: $2/side and $2 total. Typically you win or lose $2 or $4. KP's making par are worth $1 from each player. KP birdies $2/player. If you three putt, you owe all other players $1. If someone in the group behind takes you out on the 3 putt KP, you pay that player $1. I have no exact data, but based on my observations of the two foursomes we have twice a week, over the past year, I'd be real surprised if anyone wins or loses more than $80 year. That keeps the incentive to cheat pretty low. Popular Post sirchunksalot
@GolfSpy_KFT I'm really looking forward to hearing the results of your GT fitting, their new offerings are intriguing and I'm curious to hear if their claim of more ball speed are true. I'm also excited about your wedge fitting, like you I'm probably looking to replace the SnakeBite's next season since I like new wedges. I made it through the day at work without incident to my knee. It's still swollen but really didn't cause me any issues and I was completely paranoid about bumping it against anything. It actually bruised on the side and didn't on the kneecap where I landed.
