2023 PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) Secretary's Cup - Penfield CC, Rochester NY

The 8th PGA HOPE Secretary's Cup will be played in 2023 at Penfield Country Club in NY on May 15th.  Teams are coming from northern CA, TX, KS, southern central, Carolinas, and several other sections around the 48 contiguous United States.  Western NY PGA is also hosting the PGA Championship at nearby Oak Hill CC later in the week so we have 3 teams fielded for the Secretary's Cup.  Who plays in the Cup competition is from recommendations by PGA HOPE Graduate peers in each section so being chosen to represent is an honor.   Teams begin arriving in Rochester NY tomorrow Saturday 5/13 and practice round is 5/14 at Penfield CC.  The Cup competition is Monday 5/15.

Clubs are washed and ready for the weekend.  This is just as exciting as getting ready for the MidAtlantic MGS Forum meetup at Queenstown Harbor GC was last August and next month's round 2 for the meetup at Southern Pines NC with Forum friends, some of whom it will be a second time to share the weekend, the rounds, and the fun.  Golf really doesn't get much better than this.

Photos and posts will follow to share the event and chronicle it for future reference - and just perhaps to motivate other Veterans to find a program near you and get involved with the most positive gathering of not met before friends with two things in common: a military background and a desire to play golf.

Today started at Oak Hill CC and the Standard Bearer Committee meeting.  Fascinating how it's the only volunteer activity inside the ropes and part of the playing group with a scorer and treated as part of the group.  Looking forward to Thursday tee time.
