Quick question: if we play more than one round in the week, do we only post our lowest?

My understanding is you post your best round of more than one is played.

Looking forward to this. I just played a super tough course and it killed me.  So I'm probably due for a good one next time, when it counts!!! Too much lifting at the gym and a sore back = bad turn etc.  Dang it.

For the first week team Push Cart Mafia will go with:

2A: @Bucky CC & @DonnieGolfs

2B: @Clayton & @dback

Wish I had some inspirational words for my teammates or at least some good smack talk for our opponents.  Unfortunately I got nothing.  Hit three shanks off the tee this morning and tied my worst score of the year.  Hopefully it's out of my system before we start next week.

No need. We will just do our very best and KILL it! We are part of the mafia after all.

Quick question: if we play more than one round in the week, do we only post our lowest?

When we finalize which thread we're going to post scores (such as in the weekly virtual thread or a separate one) we'll be asking participants to designate the round that they wish to count.  It's tough enough capturing all 64 rounds without having to searching for other rounds within or between multiple threads.

This is a significantly larger and more complicated undertaking than the first two virtual tournaments we've run, so please be patient.

I have two potential disasters heading my way this coming week!  The first is soon to be Hurricane Isidia which is barreling down on Florida.  Luckily Key West will likely only have tropical storm conditions.  However, it's also King Tide this week which will add to overall flooding.  Our local American Legion post is next to our golf course and the parking lot is already under water due to the rising tide.

The second disaster is Saturday is my favorite Key West activity:  Key West Brewfest!  It's a "beer tasting" event that has over 150 beers from all over the world.  We have people from all over the country that make it a destination.   The good news is that all the funds raise go directly to scholarships to local students.  If anyone is in the area, it's a great event. I always volunteer to move ice to vendors and partake in their wares.   So, it's likely that Sunday morning may be a tough morning.  The following Monday at the Green Parrot the sponsor, Sunrise Rotary of the Florida Keys, has bingo event where they raffle off beer left over.  Can you imagine anything more tragic!  Beer l left over!

So, just in case of bad weather and wicked hangovers, I've given a heads up to our alternate @BNewton51 a heads up his services may be needed.

Let the fun begin!!!!!!

Ping G430 Max driver 10.5 degrees with an Alta Quick45 gram senior shaft

I will have 2 rounds to choose from either Friday or Saturday.

That’s got me wondering and maybe it’s been stated but, should a player “declare” a round designated to this event prior to playing? It seems that playing multiple rounds and then choosing the best might not put the pressure on the round I would imagine this event would. I play several rounds a week and declare (albeit to myself) that it’s either a scoring round or a practice round, that way I don’t try and change if I’m playing poorly. I would think if before the round a player declared a specific round dedicated to this event would make things more interesting and fair. This would obviously be on the honor system but so is golf in general. Just my 2 cents ✌️

I agree on all counts.  Honor System. Declare the round if possible. But Ultimately it is up to each of the players.  My preference would be to use the first round of the week as the "Match Play" round... but impossible to manage from a Tourney Committee.. so just use our best judgement.

@srooch2 you make some good points.  There are good points on both sides of that argument.  We're entering the Fall and the peak of hurricane season (maybe I'm a bit sensitive on that one living in Key West).  Weather conditions can dramatically change day to day.  One of the fun things with these virtual events is that we all have a chance to play with and against people from all over the world.  This Match Play event is no different.  We  have a very geographically diverse player locations.   We have international players (Switzerland and UK) as well as North American representation from Wisconsin to South Florida, California to Maryland.   In some locations, the weather could get a bit dicey especially as we approach the playoffs in mid-October.

Designating a round date in advance and having it negatively impacted by poor weather conditions in one location and not another may be an unfair advantage for some.

As I'm typing this, Hurricane Idalia is passing to our west and we're getting 30+ mph winds and feeder band rain squalls.  Tuesday is one of my golf days too!  Here in Key West we've dodged a bullet with only tropical storm-ish conditions.  Let's hope that people in other portions of Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas will be safe.  Having rode out Hurricane Ian and it wasn't fun!

For now, we'll likely leave it up to each participant to designate which round they wish to count for their weekly round.  If we find out it creates more issues than it solves, we can change it for future virtual tournaments.

The issue with weather is an excellent point you have presented. In a fairness it might be hard for many to get in a single round. So, designating prior to might not be an option. I would vote let people play and post as desired. It is still a round shot by the player in the designated week.

And I said what I said going on what we do with the regular tourney. If you want to limit it fine, but that needs to be clearly stated otherwise I'm going to use the round that I think gives my team the best shot at winning.

Is it too late to get into the action? I play several times a week. Both Par 3 (27) and Par 72 courses.

I suck but I do enjoy the game.

The field for this Match Play tournament is set.

You may want to look at the weekly virtual tournaments to get your feet wet.
