txgolfjunkie
Score-wise, I had my worst round of the season. But I had some great company. I was joined by downlowkey and PokeForeLyfe! Both are really good players, and we had a great time despite my struggles off the tee. From left to right: Tod (local friend of mine), PokeForeLyfe, HighFade, and Downlowkey IMG_E0503.JPG I have no idea how, but this putt did not drop IMG_0497.PNG Yeah, these guys can play IMG_0499.PNG IMG_0498.PNG It's called Pelican Lakes (Oh, now I get it) IMG_0500.PNG Poke is pointing to my ball somewhere in the deep rough. again IMG_0501.PNG Lots of math going on here IMG_0502.PNG And the winner is......downlowkey. Don't spend it all in one place IMG_0496.PNG Thanks for a great time, fellas. We should do it again! Both poke and DLK treated me to some golf last year in the Denver area. Both were great company. Highly recommended. I've got a wedding in the Denver area in June and I'll probably be hitting them up for some golf. That area has some really great tracks. Kenny B
Need to do something different. Played 36 on a course I have never played. Shot 84/86. Hit the ball well off the tee approach shots weren't great and I got a lot of short game work. Pitching and chipping needs more work on distance control, making solid contact and carry/rollout is going past the hole. Need to work if green reading, hitting my line but it is just the wrong line. Started picking better lines as the day went in. Maybe I just need a range time, or lessons, or just a short break. I know I can play better, but just getting frustrated with where I am now. You just described my round last Thursday at a local course I have only played twice in the past 3 years. I really don't know why, but I could not see the line for putts, and those greens have a lot of slope. It was a real head scratcher. cnosil and Rickp 2 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

Kenny B
My head scratcher is flat putts, I keep over reading them. For some reason I am seeing break that isn't there. I hate that! I think for some reason we all want to find some break because straight putts don't happen much. Even on my home course I go through periods where I can't match the speed with the line. I either read the break correctly but hit it too soft or firm, or I hit the ball the perfect speed and misread the line. Then other days it's all good. I'm thinking it has to do with my body chemistry or brain activity. I wonder if I should try the ion loop bracelets to counteract all the crap going on? cnosil, Rickp and GB13 3 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

Sluggo42
Shot a 73 today, with 3 3-putts! Totally odd putting day. I made a few birdies, sunk a few long putts, and blew a few short ones. But the most important part was winning 16 skins. Today was a play it where it lies day as these guys were watching like a hawk. Fortunately the track was in excellent shape. I was also freakishly long today. (270-280) ( no not every shot) Yes big boys, I know that's not long in your world, but in my world, that's GiHuge-ic. But irons were so crisp. I swear I coulda shot PB today had I putted just normal, and not have made a really stupid play on 9, after a crushed drive. I grabbed my sand wedge for a 103 yd shot it, and then flew the green into the back trap. I was like wth just happened?? Then I looked down and realized I just hit my 9 iron... duhhhhhhhhhh!,,.... Peaksy68
Yet another lovely day for golf. The forecast for 25mph winds wasn't entirely accurate, as it blew a bit harder at times, usually when rain squalls were about to roll through. 7 over after 9, probably about as good as I could have been. Took a perspective pill at the turn when I thought about a truly horrible incident at work this week, and played pretty solid golf on the back 9. Ended up 10 over with a double to finish. Pretty happy in the end, only one player played to their handicap, and I know only too well there are lots of things much worse than the worst golf I could play. cksurfdude
The season was officially over in our league but we'll continue to play as long as there is enough light. With no pressure for points, I decided to try a couple risky shots just to see if I could do it. The 16th is a very short par 4 with a dogleg protected by huge trees. The prudent play is to hit an iron off the tee, leaving about 80 yards as long at you get passed a tree (long is not good either). I decided to give the green a go with a hybrid. I wasn't really sure about the line I should take but made a great guess and had plenty of height to get over the trees. I ended up with a 20 footer for eagle. Naturally I had the right line but left it a couple rotations short. I'll take a tap-in birdie all day, but it really torqued me that I left it short. Here's an overhead view of the hole. The tees were towards the front of the tee box in the pic, so it was really more like 190 to the front of the green. Ended up 8 over on the 9 after a pretty shaky start to the round. I chipped quite a bit better than the abomination that was last week. Kenny B
I made the turn at +1, but I wasn't hitting the ball all that well; I was scrambling. It was a little slow and on #10 as I was waiting to tee off the guys behind us rolled up. One asked how's it going? I replied "some good, some not so good. My wife replied rather snarky, "He was +1 after bogeying #9." She wasn't having a good day since she had a tooth pulled yesterday, and wasn't feeling all that well. Well, that changed my round. 3 pars and 6 bogeys on the back nine, for a 79. I thought I had a chance for one of my best rounds this year, but it ended up as just another good round. DougC38
We have a 9 hole course about 2 minutes from my house and my buddy and I decided to give it a shot for our first ever round. We were only able to putt a few holes due to time constraints, waiting for groups in front of us, mowers and trying to get through all the muddy and swampy areas. I had a blast even though I was soaked from about mid-shin down. The couple holes I actually putted I did pretty well (par to +2) and only lost 3 balls haha. I can admit that we were a little intimidated when we got there but the couple guys before and behind us helped us relax a bit. All in all it was a great morning and I can't wait to get back out there.
