I mean, they look nice, but there's nothing that makes them stand out from all the other DTC brands that all seem to come from the same templates for the most part. I personally don't look at those and go "wow those stand out, I want to go hit them". I know they claim to have designed them differently, but so did Caley...

I'm seriously considering grabbing the MT-86 OS heads-only and building a set of them. I'm glad they offer the heads-only like other DTC's are. Since in most cases the shafts are limited, being able to get them this way is great for those of us who want specific shafts.

I'd love the new CB's they have now, I'm just not at that point in my game to be able to enjoy them properly.

I wouldn't go about comparing the reputation and tradition of Caley and MacGregor.

Different planets if you ask me and maybe the hollow body looks similar to most, but I think that's more of a overall design for that style of iron. Hard to do much different, the others look classic but modern I would say.

Why not? Both DTC brands, both offering heads that appear to be templated based on other brands in the same space. I'm just playing devil's advocate here. MacGregor is simply a name at this point, it's got no relation to the company that they used to be, unlike W/S as an example.

I think MacGregor still has prestige and there is no way the MT86 irons were template irons.

I'd honestly prefer to avoid the Caley discussion. We are very thankful they provided a testing opportunity last year and had some solid results. The marketing mishap is ... Unfortunate.

Maybe both are technically DTC, but I would put MacGregor inline with other higher tier DTC such as Sub 70, New Level, Haywood, PXG to name a few.

Versus some others like Caley that are more dropship clear template models.

As MacGregor is owned by the same company that owns Ram I would say Ram is more in line with the Caley product offerings.

All of this is of course my own personal take.

Wholeheartedly agree with you Jamie.

I would not put MacGregor in the same level as Caley, but would for the others like Sub70. Not all DTC's are created equal. Are they the same MacG from the 70's and 80's? No. But they're not a pop-up DTC brand with catalog clubs like some of the lesser brands. Ram, as you say is more on that "simpler" DTC level, but not MacG.

I wouldn't think twice about buying MacG irons the way I would a few others.

I think the MT Milled look very similar to the Sub70 TA.  Good looking clubs for sure!
