We have more than enough members here who have done modifications of some sort for their carts!

So here is a topic to share tips,  mods, accessories.  What does and doesn't work, or can be improved , etc !

Riders, pushers, pullers,  electric, it doesn't matter!

No tips at the moment, but I do want to buy a new cart. Been eyeing the Yamaha Quietechs for a minute…

I'll start with this.  My home made DIY push cart.

Ive added alot of farkles and tidbits to the cart for storage,  ease of use, etc.  My latest will be adding a sand dispenser.  I need to get a larger clamp style cup holder to use the OG sand tube as this one doesn't quite hold it.  Sure, I could buy a cart specific sand tube and clamp, but that's no fun!

20240901_104048.jpg.4beda34bceeeb765e61d156c37f2b0aa.jpg

I also have this hospital jug that works well, but can't secure it. It just hangs in the old cup slot

20240901_104120.jpg.760a474708e64b150b22fdb1a7be3563.jpg

So I grabbed this coffee creamer container, it has a wide mouth to fill it, a screw on top with a flip lid, and should hold enough sand to last 18 holes.

20240901_104250.jpg.f6a954980cf1407c75d7d6e17dbad85e.jpg

I can usually get sand from the course I play on, or ask one of the attendants to fill it.  You can even refill from the riding cart sandbox.

I’ve owned 2 Yamaha carts one of them quiet tech.  Both nice carts but did have clutch issues and had to replace them more often than I would like.  Belts replaced every 6-9 months.
Switched to Star Lithium 2years ago, so far no complaints.

Well , I’ll start off with the sand bottle. I used a 32 oz container of True Moo Chocolate Milk and cut part of the top away for easy filling and pouring.IMG_0986.jpeg.697bf255a413134ab4c67e57b9f123d1.jpegMy golf bag has a cooler pocket for the drinks so I use the large cup holder for the sand bottle.

Then took an old glove ready for the trash and cut the Velcro off. Used double sided sticky tape (Alien brand) and attached it to the cup holder. Now my glove can dry between shots.

Todays addition a rechargeable fan.

IMG_1035.jpeg.1732cc4ad46438cc1074a93dfcdc0c28.jpeg

The Motocaddy has a charging port under the handle. So it can charge the remote or the fan.

PS: Don’t  pick on the obnoxious carpet in the garage. The polka dots just happen to be the same size as a golf cup. And the carpet rolls the same as my golf course. I can practice 1 foot up to 20 foot putts.

I’m trying to stop myself but y’all know that’s hard for me to do. I’m on the hunt for a used e-bike that I want to convert to a golf bike.
I have a bike hauler in my shed from when I used to mountain bike so I got a way to get it to the course.

First thought: NFW.

Second thought: maybe Rob isn't so crazy after all. The trike is harder to tip over and you smart handy guys could figure out some platform and bracket in front of the handlebar to hold a golf bag... 🤔

Prob need to change out the wheels, though, to something much wider.

Just use the top and bottom bag brackets off of a cheap pull cart (like I recently did on franken-carts bottom base)

It came with the house and it’s in the garage. There is also a pool table on the non simulator side. Previous owner worked for a carpet company. He probably got it for free as I couldn’t see anyone paying for it. He had giant area rugs in every room covering new hardwood floors. Real hardwood not laminate. My wife didn’t even want to look at the house originally due to all the crazy carpets. I told the realtor to add it in anyway. I could see what my wife couldn’t look past. Once there I pulled back the carpet and said look at this. Well we own the house obviously. The previous owners took all the other carpets (Thankfully). Eventually I’ll get rid of the polka dots. Moving the sim is easy but the pool table, not so much. They actually left it for us because they didn’t want to have to move it. Getting rid of the carpet  is not high on the priority list. Still have a couple rooms to paint.
I will say it has improved my putting though. Former owner was a golfer maybe he used it for putting as well.  But it does run the same speed as my golf course greens. IMG_0133.jpeg.102e73e7e3a3e00c9d75b66b8e8a5bf6.jpeg

I can usually get sand from the course I play on, or ask one of the attendants to fill it.  You can even refill from the riding cart sandbox.

Was that strap for the sand/Coffee Mate holder there or did you mod that onto the cart?

My current cart has buttons that various holders can be clipped to. The manufacturer sells quite a number of accessories, but they’re all pretty pricey, IMO. I’m trying to find ways to use those buttons to hold my oversized water bottle, range finder and a spare towel.

I’m gona do this. It’s just a matter of when.

IMG_1038.jpeg.c7693cc50853c4175c4b98a52e9dc605.jpeg

Pick up one looking like this, then make a modification off the back rack for the golf bag. This is gona be fun.

I have to check with my course first. Will they allow me to ride it there. Will I then have to pay a yearly trail fee? Private carts have to pay in the range of $1200 to $1500 a year to use your own cart. What would a two wheel trail fee be? Will my bike rack work with this bike? (I don’t have a truck) could I keep it at the course and just take the battery out and chain it up. Would I really want to?

From what I've read, courses that use these restrict them to CPO.

I have my MGI cart, but have not really done anything to it...

My evolution golf cart, yeah I have done some tweaks on it.

First is where I hang my putter and my golf towel.

The second is the bag carriers. I made them out of an old bed frame.

Hmmm.  I do have the red rooster MGS velcro tab I converted to a "bag tag". Never thought to use it as a glove tab too. It's funny how the obvious things elude us until someone else uses them.

Thanks @Tom the Golf Nut !

I ran a strip of Velcro and put gloves there to dry.  Been doing this for years.  Dollar Tree Velcro now $1.25
