    Happy thread

My wife went boot shopping for me in Nashville. I have a pair of blue python and a pair of gray croc boots waiting for me at the hotel. Not sure what she spent on them but I was told “happy birthday and don’t f’in ask”. At least I have two new pairs of dress shoes to wear to work. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  2. As I just got the weapon a week ago, I am starting out by leaving everything on my G410 Plus in neutral settings until I am more sure how I hit this club. Lately, I have been hitting some hooks as a result of a back muscle giving grief so that good hip turns through the drive were minimally, if at all, possible. I am getting a good sense of what I may have to adjust, but the ease of swinging this monster seems to want to make me wait for a while. So far, I am getting a bit of a strong draw, but not a lot of gawd awful hooks to sense a full pattern. To be honest, I need to work out ways to get a little more distance. But no adjustment until I feel better tuned to the clubs a whole. BTW, love the club! It not only lives up to the MGS reviews, to me, it swell worth its price.

  7. I was at Golfworks this week and fondled the TS1 and 2s. Super nice looking club. GW firmly believes that these are as good or better than any OEM out there.

  8. Home at 2am this morning after spending 2 days wirh Jim and 2 other students. GW is making nothing on this class as they buy lunches, supply beverages, books, and some free Golf Pride stuff. They are banking on you being a customer. I thought GW was just a 30-40 employee operation , but that isnt the case. They have well over a 100 employees and do move much more product then iI imagined. We stayed busy so no time to tour the operation. I went to the 2 day repair class. It covered loft lie bending, broken shaft repair, shaft removal and install, grips removal and install a multiple of ways, extensions, some swingweighting, bore thru. and whatever questions we came up with. Not sure if they covered anything extra after I left Friday. Class went over some but I had to get to a plane. Brief panic moment on the first day. Heavy rains and super windy the first day. Lost power and that building has no back up. Came back on after a couple minutes..whew.. Jim is a wealth of info and just throws out info and it can be overwhelming. He was great to go over it again as needed and explained in a way that Ithe students could understand. This class was beginner level stuff. but offered insights of different methods to accomplish the same thing. The make up of the 3 students in the class. was a very beginner inthe club repair world, a gu who went to a class there in the late 90s and does word of mouth work out of his house, and myself who has just begun dabbling in the last year. The new guy was intriqued and overwhelmed but did well. The experienced guy eased thru class but learned some things along the way in terms of different methods and easier methods or more accurate methods. For me I breezed thru as well but learned some things I will change and re-evaluate certain proceses and my tools and future purchases. I did take a large suitcase for some purchases to save on shipping but held off until evaluate what I really need. Didnt want spur of moment purchases. I will go back next year for a fitting class.

  10. No, no... Thank _You_, Ping Golf USA! Pulled these out of the mailbox after an hour of shoveling snow and pondered the potential of my three month trial period expiring without ever having an opportunity to test drive. Called Arccos HQ (they answered on the first ring) to inquire about suspending my trial period until the Spring. No dice - however, they were kind enough to _extend_ my trial until April 1st. Thank you Arccos!!! YMMV but it’s probably worth a call. Arccos: 844-692-7226

    How'd you play?

Got out yesterday afternoon for what may be the last round of the year. It was 45*F with a stiff 15mph wind. Was the only one on the course and barely hit any greens but glad I got out to play. Got 18 holes in and think I shot about 88 only kept score mentally. Was also trying to implement a few tips I got during my true spec fitting. So mixed bag of shots and probably some over compensation on swing mechanics. Using MyGolfSpy mobile app

    How'd you play?

Another day of good tee shots, good short game (short putting was medicore), and bad iron play. Spent some time on the range and hit the ball well but it didn't carry over to the course.

  14. I'd agree with previous posts in that it's a combination of the two. As to the wine reference - it's purely personal preference - no robot testing as far as I know. There are some pretty expensive wines that I don't care for. Also some less expensive wines that I'd take over the expensive ones. Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy

Love them. I grew up in the mountains of PA and dress clothes were good boots and jeans without a Skoal ring. I lived in the city and tried to be “more sophisticated.” Turns out boots, jeans and a buckle is just me and why try and change it. My wife is happy that I am just back to being me and not trying to be everything to everyone. Have a lot going on with life right now and found what my foundation is so that is a start. 17. It's definitely both. I had this conversation with the people at Titleist on Friday. And you know what. They had both going on at the very moment. They were using the robot for ball testing, and on one of the teeing areas they were using real live humans for club testing at that moment. But they also use them for ball testing along with the robot. Sound famaliar? MGS has said many times they get it's protocols from the OEM's.

    Golf Club Testing

Im with both. An engineer or team can make the best golf club that checks all the boxes but it it looks like a iron that fell down the stairs into a furnace i.e. the human factor then its not worth its weight in scrap.

    How'd you play?

Actually, being on the outskirts of greater Phoenix is not such a bad thing. My BIL lives in Surprise which not all that long ago was "out in nowhere". Now it's it's own city, and everything you need is a short drive away, maybe even by golf cart. Unless I was going to play golf at a course on the other side of Phoenix, I would likely never drive into/around Phoenix.

  25. For the last couple of weeks, I've let a buddy borrow my F8's to try out before he decided to purchase a set. I got them back today, so I took them out to the range to work on a problem have had for a while, starting my backswing to the inside and coming over the top. First time trying it and the results were decent. Hit quite a few chunks, but was seeing improvement on the shots I hit well. Haven't been able to play in over a month (moving the mother-in-law, weather), so I thought a trip to the range might help scratch the itch. Definitely have some work to do, but at least it was a start. Sent from my SM-G955U using MyGolfSpy mobile app

  28. When the TS-2 first came out I put them head to head with and identically built P790. The TS-2 had better feel and spun better in the Sim. Had identical ball speed and launch. On the course the TS-2 dropped and stopped on the green while the P790 rolled out the the back of the green over and over. It baffles me why people pay OEM prices when these are so damn good. 29. No I actually found the set on eBay. The clubs couldn’t have been used for more than 5 or 6 rounds. The 5 iron still had the shrink wrap on it. I was actually just going to buy new but when I went to pay there was no PayPal option. I found and bought this set before Jason got back to me with an option for using PayPal. I stuck with the used set mainly to save a few bucks. I didn’t realize they sold used sets until I seen the Tweet from them about a used set for $309. On a side note I did send an email Friday night about possibly purchasing heads only as I didn’t care for the tour v shafts when I tried them. Jason actually called me Saturday morning to discuss what I was looking for and to explain why they don’t SEND out heads only. He did however mention an option to purchase heads only and send the shafts I am going to install to them and they would install them for me. I prefer to do my own club work for the most part so I declined. It is a pretty neat option for those interested though. He stated that they really want to control the quality of the builds for their irons and I don’t think I can blame him for that. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

    How'd you play?

Played yesterday for the first time in over 3 weeks! I’ve been on a course twice in that period to test golf balls but I was doing that, not playing golf to keep score. Played pretty well once I shook off the rust 39-39, 78. The front nine at St Pete CC is generally 2 shots easier than the back - I bogeyed 3 of the first 5 holes before I got settled in with my short game. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

  31. For design when it comes to specs the robot is a great tool because they can get consistent strikes and gather data similar to how ball testing is done. human testing comes into play for the subjective aspects. Looks, sound, feel (many equate this to the sound they hear rather than what they feel in the hands arms). both are needed in my opinion. It’s why brands bring in testers for their prototype testing

Well, the opening of the bar was a success. We had issues, which we worked through, including a stopped up toilet which led to the drain in the bar flooding twice. Made a bit of money in tips and hope to build on that.

  33. Don't know what you're gaming now but my sense is that you're going to LOVE everything about this driver. I have about 80 rounds with mine and lots of range time and my response to anyone wondering is "you're going to have to pry........ " well you get it. Since we're roughly the same age, and I think close to the same SS, I'll be interested to hear what shaft they put you in. I've got the CB R Flex cut down about 1/2". FYI I started out (for the official test) with the SR Flex - then I went to my fitter who put me into this current shaft..

Got my sensors Tuesday. I got them all installed paired them all up on my phone this afternoon. (I had to use a Sharpie to label some of the Game Golf tags I was removing, because they had been worn smooth.) Then I got to the course to find it closed for the winter. Sniffle: So I sent an email to Arccos asking if they'd be willing to cancel my subscription to Caddie and to delay the free three months until next season. I'd like to hope that they'd work with me here. UPDATE: OK, that's seriously impressive. Within 20 minutes of my initial email to them, Arccos replied and offered to cancel my subscription and allow me to restart the Caddie trial next spring. They are already getting one major vote for me over Game Golf on that front.

41-37 for a 78 today. My chipping was so bad that my teammates were begging me to hit the green in regulation, just so they didn't have to watch. 2 doubles were negated by 4 birdies.

  43. I'm not surprised Jason reached out on a weekend. Every experience I've had with Sub70/Hurricane Golf/Diamond Tour, and with Jason specifically, has been great. Very cool option with the shafts. I really wanted to get out to Sycamore this fall to do a fitting, but the timing never worked out for me and I've gone the road of some Maltby PTMs for next season. I told myself I wouldn't buy another set of irons for at least two seasons going forward, but that can always change...

    Golf Club Testing

unfortunately i think the answer is really both. Test are designed to achieve a specific purpose and both robot and human testing have specific purposes. What is best accomplished with a robot is not best accomplished with a human and vise versa.

  47. I recently bought a Sun Mountain Sync, wondering now if I should have gone with the C130. The Sync was specifically designed for push carts. I like the lightweight design, but I will admit the storage is a little lacking compared to my older riding cart bag. I've seen the C130 in person, it's a bit larger, probably has more storage as a result. Love the red/black, it's very sharp. I will say, I love the full-length dividers and putter well for ease of getting clubs in/out while on the cart. My older OGIO bag had a 14-way top but no full-length dividers and it was a pain to get clubs in/out without sticking when using my walking cart.

  50. I would posit that playing IS the best sort of practice. I haven't been going to the practice areas as much as in the past and replaced those trips with a quick 9 at a par-3 course. There are actually five par-4 holes ranging from 250yds to 320yds. The four par-3s are 100yds-160yds. I have found this more valuable as "practice" than banging away at a bucket of balls. Like anyone else with a full-time job and limited free time & money, I would much rather be on the course than a driving range. I understand not everyone has a course like this nearby, but it is a big part of my "practice" strategy. If you have access to something similar, I highly suggest trying it. With that having been said, the driving range and chipping/putting green do have their value. I continue to utilize both for practice. For example, during a recent stretch of practice rounds I noticed that when I miss a green I had a lot of 15-30 yard pitch/chips with about half carry to the green. I went and practiced those specific shots to build a little confidence. I forget where the quote comes from but practice how you play, right? I hope that helps a little.
