This looks like fun...  Might have to make a driving trip back east.

Who knows how I can break the seal on the weights of my Scotty without dropping $40 on the tool? I'm thinking DIY (I don't even want to spend $7 on a made-in-China knockoff). I don't really want to damage the putter either...

With surgery on Monday. I scheduled 2 hours at the simulator tomorrow. The docs already going to be in there, might as well get a few swings in before I'm carved up. Probably play bay harbor after a good warm up.

Test out them turbulators on the big screen.

Good luck with the surgery Alan.  And heck yeah, why not have a last simulator round for a while.   Can't do any more harm right?

We were there many moons ago - stayed at Baileys Harbor. Beautiful part of the country.

It's so weird not being able to swing a club full because of my bad shoulder.Im wondering how much my swing will have changed once I take full swings in the early fall. After a long injury layoff do some lose parts of their game that they never get back?

Keep it in the short stuff

Depends on injury changes range of motion. I broke my left wrist December 2016 and struggled most of last year because I couldn't set my wrists the way I always have. Over the course of the year I adapted to what my wrists I could do and all was well. Our course should be opening in a week or two and I will see how things work now that my mobility has returned. To answer your question I don't think you lose parts of your game in a layoff they just get a little rusty.

Can someone tell me if there is a difference between regular balls and those with "PRACTICE" stamped on them? There are 100 Practice NXT Tours in mint condition on eBay for $35. They'll mainly be shag bag balls, but might slip a few into play occasionally.

Practice golf balls are conforming products that differ only due to a cosmetic blemish such as paint, ink or registration of stamping.  Practice golf balls do not have any construction or performance deficiencies.

I think I've made it clear in prevvious posts that at our course, we really try to excel at customer service and going above and beyond to satisfy our golfers.

This example from today is more funny than anything bad, but I have to share it.

if you are going to go out when the temps are 35 degrees, and winds are steady 20 mph making it wind chills in the low 20's, you should expect it to be almost unplayable. But to come in after one hole and ask for a "raincheck" shows a lack of real forethought before you went out.

Of course we gave him a full raincheck, but you have to wonder sometimes about the sanity of golfers....LOL

Can't fix stupid. See it all the time down here. Snowbirds mostly thinking Everyday in FL is a good day to play.

BTW light frost this AM.

The weather was much nicer at his house. This is potentially true. I know when I leave my house it can feel 10 degrees warmer than when I get to work and am in the wind. Probably just one of those guys that goes from car to tee; and since the heat was on he didn't feel how cold it was until after the first hole.

I have been stupid enough to start when it was too cold, but I managed to get through the round and not get a rain check.

I've played in some bad weather...sometimes it starts fine and then it turns real bad...there have been times where I'm still the only one on the course.  I remember last year playing towards the end of the season and it was cool, foggy and kinda wet (but not raining) when I started.  I was by myself and walking and by the time I made the turn it started to sprinkle and then it really came down.  I finished my round and was soaked to the bone ... I wouldn't even have thought about a rain check; I loved the challenge...  I don't get to play often enough for a rain check so once I'm out there it probably needs to be thunder and lightning before I'll consider leaving.

Although, I don't send my food back at a restaurant either....  :D

sidenote: my wife used to work as a cashier at a movie theater and some people would come by AFTER the movie was over and say "it was too loud" or "the theater was cold" or something like that...she didn't care, if they didn't like something then she'd give them a refund....I think people just made stuff up if they didn't like the movie; can't imagine someone coming in after a round and saying the "greens were too slow" or the "rough was too thick" and asking for a refund/rain check!

@cnosil

I'm with you. I love the challenge of playing in totally awful weather. Don't get me wrong, I love it when it's nice too but no one tells stories about that time they played when it was 70* and sunny.

1-2 times during my league season, we'll have to play in the rain due to scheduling conflicts. My opponents are always complaining and usually do everything they can to try and get the matches cancelled. 3-0-1 in those situations thus far I love it and treat it like an advantage.

We actually did have a guy come in last year and complain that he was in 17 bunkers on the front nine alone, and that ruined his round and while he didn't ask fro a refund he yelled up and down for 5 minutes that the course was unfair and he can't imagine anyone breaking 90 on this course and he's a single digit handicap.......Alrighty then :)

When I told our GM and Super about it the next day, the Super laughed and just kept saying "seventeen?...really seventeen?....Nine holes....Seventeen"    That nine does have a fair amount of bunkers, but to be in 17 for 9 holes as a single digit, something doesn't add up...ha

You should know by now not to doubt a customer!  Of course he was a single digit...single digit on the front 9 and single digit on the back 9...that, when added together, means he's a double digit player :)

The ONLY time I have ever gotten a raincheck was for round in Naples, FL when the pro came out on the course in a cart to find me and said I had to leave.  It was raining hard but no lightning.  I was already wet, but it was warm and I didn't care.

We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

How can you ask the theater for a refund if they didn't like the movie? Theater too cold , loud ....they all are. Bring a coverup.
