Fjd
Since I am a consumer reports advocate and am passionate about golf, what better place to know what golf stuff works. MGS, the consumer reports of golf. When you look at the golf Hot List that comes out annually from Golf Digest, all the OEM products are the best, all gold star. Caddie1966
I first came into contact with MGS because I listened to a couple of No Putts Given sessions and that led me to the ball test results. I was blown away by the ball testing and realized that here was a site that had no biases to any OEM and that intrigued me. Once I joined and started following a few threads, I was hooked. It’s been a blast and it is something I do every morning and night with my coffee. The members are just like having a few thousand golf buddies. People are open, honest, funny, helpful and just plain good. It beats the heck out of watching the same stuff over and over again on golf YT channels. I’m here for the the long haul so I guess you could call me a self sentenced lifer in the general population of MGS. GolfSpy_BEN
Last Summer, a co-worker and I were discussing Vice golf balls. At one point, he said something to the effect of “let me check my golf spy to see how they stack up against Callaway”, his preferred ball. My first thought was, “what the hell is a golf spy?” Quickly followed by, “They have golf ball rankings? huh. He showed me the site and I was intrigued. Prior to that moment, I was wary of equipment review sites and publications. I’ve always thought the everything is great and does exactly what the OEM says it does approach is disingenuous at best. If everything is good, then nothing is good. Without a balanced look at any given product, it’s nothing more than marketing. That is what makes MGS so alluring. When it came time to buy a new driver last fall, I found myself using MGS as a sole sourced reference in my research prior to demoing and testing. Their most wanted testing provided a good baseline of info that allowed me to narrow the search to a couple of clubs that I felt could help my game. From time to time, I noticed the Testers Wanted banner, but generally dismissed it as not for me. That all changed with the call for testers for the Paradym Irons. It was signing up for that test that brought me here, to my forever home, though at the time I had no idea of the impact this forum would have me in such a short time. I came here with the hope that complete strangers would trust me with $1400 worth of golf clubs. What I found was community. A vibrant, eclectic extended family that I can share my highs and lows with. A group of folks that don’t roll their eyes when I talk about whatever piece of equipment I’m currently gassing over. I joined because of the free irons, I stayed because I’m home. Then I had an operation in January of 2023 and was played up for 6 weeks so decided to jump set up a profile (which I am still trying to figure out the last 25%) anyway started to talk golf with the folks and one thing led to another and here I am.... really enjoying it... tdroma98, GolfSpy_APH, sirchunksalot and 2 others 5 Quote committed to performance excellence

Shlax
I initiallly joined MGS because I'm a solid golf gear nerd. I like being informed on the shiny new stuff that comes out with a special focus on clubs. I'm data driven and always liked the clubs and balls lab reviews conducted on the main site. I discovered the testing opportunities and was ecstatic at the idea of eventually being chosen as a tester. I also very much liked having people to talk to and share on data, metrics and my obsession on some technical aspects of the golf swing in general. I still read a lot, maybe too much, of reviews (official and unofficial), share on swing advices, practice and drills threads but also like to participate in the Weekly Virtual Tour and "How Did You Play" threads. This community shares my passion for golf and it has been really fun to have a gateway to golf even when I'm not playing or practicing. mjp351
I joined so that I can get good equipment reviews and also equipment suggestions for my age group. However, I have been disappointed in the aspect that they catered to the younger player and really haven't done anything to help the senior golfers and women golfers. It seems like we don't exist and they don't care about us. They don't do research for our groups and it's not acceptable. I mean we would like reviews for the slower swing speeds under 85 mph and everytime I made suggestions they basically brush my suggestion off. I will read the article but they just don't do enough research.
