Popular Post Byrnzee
Good morning Spies! Back to work this morning after a nice day off yesterday. Shouldn't be too crazy of a week and it'll be nice that it's a short one. Weather looking great as well, but likely taking a couple days off from swinging a club after two rounds in three days. I'm sad that the men's major season has come and gone so soon. I still feel like they should move the PGA Championship back to being the last major of the year to spread things out more. Luckily there's a lot more golf to consume this year with the Olympics, the AIG Women’s Open at the Old Course, and the FedEx Cup playoffs. Hope everyone has a great Tuesday! Popular Post Erin B
Good morning spies and happy Tuesday to ya! CFD is in full swing here in Cheyenne so that means a lot of people and a lot of crazy drunk cowboys. I’m one so I can say that. My elbow is still hurting. and I have an unrelated dr appointment so maybe I can sweet talk the dr into a shot or something. It’s the VA so ya never know. I did have a stellar round yesterday after I got an elbow forearm strap, didn’t hit any drive very long but they were in the fairway. Had a couple birdies on my birdie hunt too. Popular Post Kenny B
Good Morning everyone!! Headed to the course this morning for an 8am tee time with wife and two BIL’s. Not sure if I will make big swings today; maybe pitches, chips and putts; back still sore. The good news is that it’s cooled off; temps during play will be from 68-84º… perfect!! Big group last night here for dinner; smoked two racks of baby back ribs and wife did potato salad and spinach salad with slivered almonds, bacon chunks, mandarin oranges, and hot bacon dressing… winner!! Popular Post GolfSpy_KFT
Good morning MGS'ers on what started out as a downpour Tuesday morning but is giving way to clear skies the rest of the day. Original forecast was rain in the afternoon but that now does not look the case, which doesn't hurt my feelings as I have league play tonight. The Drive, Chip and Putt challenge went well for my oldest son Myles yesterday! He ended up finishing in 8th place out of 20 participants in the 7-9 age group, and with his birthday in April he was one of the youngest participants. He scored the 4th most points in the putting category, and I'm just super proud of him. He mentioned being nervous Sunday night, and I could tell he was feeling some nerves as he fiddled with his tee height for his first drive about five times. However, he promptly tagged an 89 yard bullet right down the middle of the grid for his first swing of the day and had 2/3 drives stay in the grid for scoring purposes. Chipping was a bit of a challenge, and I think next year we will take a different approach to practicing for that area. He still managed to get two balls into the scoring target, and one outside which is still a point. For putting, they had a tricky left to right side breaking putt set up for the 6 footer. He drilled it like it was a tap in for 25 points, then hit the 15' and 30' putt to within 10 feet, both good for 5 points. All in all he tallied 47 total points and was just 16 points off third place. I have a feeling the next couple years he could challenge for a top three finish and advance to the regional qualifier. We finished it off with a hot dog, brat and kiddie cocktail in the clubhouse. Hope everyone has a fantastic day! Popular Post ZoonORama
Morning Spies! First time in a long time I am able to post in the morning. Calls starting in 15 minutes and lasting until 3pm today. So… I did play in the league last night. Somehow, me and my partner are in 1st place for the second half of the season. Last night he couldn’t play and I didn’t find a sub so it was just up to me. I held the wolves at bay and actually played well for the first time in a while. The opposing team, one of which is a scratch golfer actually threw clubs twice during the 9 hole round. That’s when I knew I had them on the ropes. I am not really very competitive so I think what made one of them even more upset was me trying to encourage him and even giving him breaks when his ball was in a bad spot (letting him get a decent lie). Hopefully, we are still in the top spot but won’t know until all the points are in from the other teams. I play for fun but the competitive nature of last night did nudge my play style up a few notches. And…. I still had fun. Today is National Vanilla Ice Cream Day! I think I’ll have mine with root beer. Have a great week everyone! Cheers! Not only that but my fridge is fouled up too. Hoping this visit will resolve both. And that the landlord doesn't bill me for the repairs. I mentioned last week that the driver shaft fitter put me on the BGT Brava shaft. Found out more about BGT. It's the latest venture of Barney Adams, of Adams Tight Lies fame. BGT started out making putter shafts and is now dipping its toes into shafts for woods and wedges. Still haven't decided to pull the trigger on a $500 shaft but the option is there. I really enjoyed it and the first 9 was some of the best golf I think I’ve ever played. To start with an eagle was amazing and I finished gross +1. The afternoon 18 wasn’t as good but wasn’t bad. Just a couple of silly mistakes cost me shots but I ended up gross +12. That gave me a competition score of -13 net which was just enough to put me in 4th place on count back so I was pleased with that, especially as I was only 2 shots behind the winner. Popular Post jbern
Good morning! Popular Post Wheelieb
Morning All, Today would have been a great day to get out and get 9 in after work. Two key words there? “Would have”. Why? Well yesterday I just felt off and tired but energetic. Had a sore throat and a runny nose and got some meds from our medical team, they believed it was sinuses acting up. I got home and I felt super tired at 4 pm which is not normal. Decided to just do a Covid test at home and it didn’t even take the full time to show I had it. So I’m home resting. This is the second time I’ve had it, this time it’s nowhere near like the first time. Only difference is I have a sore throat and a lot more nasal drip. First time I had a slight cough, a fever of 101 and whole body aches. Well, hope everyone has a better day than me. Hopefully I don’t have a fever later cause if so, no work tomorrow as well. Everyone have a great day and hit 'em well if you have the opportunity! ejgaudette, snoopy79, ZJeb67 and 16 others 18 1 Quote GT4,10 *, Ventus Black TR 6 S Velacore TSR1, 15*, TPT Power Range Fairway 17 Lo TSR2, Hybrid, 18*, TPT Power Range Hybrid 17 Lo T-200, (2023), 5-PW, SteelFiber, i95cw, S Vokey Design - 50 & 54, SteelFiber i95cw S, and Vokey S10 - 46 & 58, SteelFiber i95cw S Odyssey JAILBIRD 380 Limited Edition ELIXR (2022), MaxFli Tour S (2024)
Popular Post EnderinAZ
Good morning spies! Oooo did I have fun at the Wild Bunch game yesterday! 11 pars, 3 birdies, and 4 bogies for a 1 over 74 on my home course 38/36. Best I have shot there! My playing partners could not get their games on track and none of my birdies held up for skins so no money for a great game. Oh well, there is always tomorrow. Hot today with a 50%+ chance for some much needed monsoon action, but my bicycle is calling and I may skip the afternoon round for a good long ride. I am retired, I can be - as Lucy from the old Peanuts comics used to say - wishy washy like that. @skraeling I have put in a few patios like that. It is a ton of work, and yours looks very nice! Hope you all have a great day. ejgaudette, Rick Bouchard, Northern Monkey and 14 others 16 1 Quote Driver QI10 max Hybrids G430 2, 3, 4 Irons ZX4 6-PW Wedges Hi-Toe 50, 54, 58 Putter L.A.B. Popular Post rkj427
Good morning Spies on a later start than usual for me today, Heavy rain overnight here caused my car alarm to go off 3 times during the night, and unsure why that happened. Did play yesterday and posted in the Virtual Tour area, on a great course here in the Wisconsin Dells. Nothing on our agenda today, but another round scheduled tomorrow. @Northern Monkey great eagle start and steady playing throughout your event. @cksurfdude glad the return trip wasn't too bad, and all went well in NE. @GolfSpy_KFT congratulations to your son, and thanks for sharing the details. Hope the rest of the Spies have the best day they possibly can, and that something fun and enjoyable is in your plans. sirchunksalot, ZJeb67, William P and 13 others 7 9 Quote Driver & Fairway: Titleist GT2 8 degree - Ventus TR Red & TSR3 15 - Hzrdus Black Gen 4 Hybrid: TSR2 21 degree - Hzrdus Black Gen 4 Irons: Titleist T200 3G (4) & T150 - (5-G) - Modus 105 Wedges: Vokey SM9 54, and 58 Putter: Cameron Phantom X 5 Ball: Pro V1 & Maxfli Tour Link to Motocaddy M7 w/Remote Trolley & Bag Review
Popular Post RichL85
Morning to everyone. I'm currently on a break from the conference I am attending today. It's too bad the majority of people are located in Florida so they are quite inconsiderate to my schedule to start a conference at 5:30 AM my time. Maybe they should stay late instead of making me wake up early. I can dream right? Strangely enough, that's about the extent of my personal struggles even though everything feels like it is on fire around us right now. FIL met with his oncologist yesterday. I was with the kids so I only hear the pass down from my MIL regarding what was said during the appointment. Basically, Radiation and Chemo are scheduled for next week, but it sounds like he's known about this a lot longer than he told us. It's basically past the point where there would be any hope of curing his cancer and at this point he's just buying time. He's already said that he would give the treatment a try, but depending on how he takes to it, he may not stick with it because he doesn't want to prolong being absolutely miserable. On top of that, my sister-in-law has apparently been in the hospital for about a week. Again. This is, I think the 3rd or 4th time this year she's had to be hospitalized. Always seems to be symptoms related to her drinking habits. I'm sure in her mind, there is a reason for it, but I can't understand it. She has a 12 year old son that has seen her in pretty bad shape a few times, and I would have thought that would be enough to wake her up, but it hasn't changed a thing. My wife says that it's probably related to some kind of guilt or secret she has about something, but the full details are outside the scope of my knowledge. Even if I knew, I'm sure it wouldn't be my place to say anything, but it does lead to the question at what point should my wife say something because it could absolutely blow up her sister's world. She seems to be stuck between her promise and relationship to her sister, and trying to protect her sister from killing herself with the alcoholism. I'm not going to lie, I'm over 2024.
