Happy that we've finally reached Friday, even though it was a shorter week for me. Thanks to everyone for the well wishes for my wife and myself yesterday. Urgent care was a big help as they gave her some meds and she's feeling much better today. I'm still not 100%, but no where near what she was dealing with. We both passed out pretty early last night and got a good night's sleep.

We're supposed to go to a tailgate for the Notre Dame game tomorrow, but not sure that'll still happen with how we've been feeling. We don't have tickets to the game, but like to bring our pup there to walk around campus and say hi to friends that are in town. Might be a game time decision based on how we're feeling tomorrow morning. 

Might try and get out to the range again this evening after work. Making progress with the swing, but still need lots of reps to drill home what I've been working on. Just hoping I can put together a decent round on Sunday morning. Also have my fitting Sunday afternoon for the TaylorMade P7CBs, so that'll be something to look forward to.

A good morning to all. Day 2 of the Fortinet Cup championship and set up nicely for spotter duty on the par 3 7th hole of the North course at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley. Views from my chair. Coffee in hand.  Should be an enjoyable day.

Happy Friday all! More importantly, Happy 1st weekend of football ALL WEEKEND LONG. Time to break out the jerseys early till both of my teams disappoint me. Wife is out of town this weekend, kiddo naps from 12 to 2:30ish, so have some buddies coming over to hang out on the deck since weather will be nice and mild and grill out some wings & jalapeño poppers. I try to do SBST but not always successful. I have determined that my usual miss is pulling the putt, even if I actually read the green correctly. Have not figured out how to fix that. Maybe I should try arc putting again. It can't be any worse...

Good morning fellow spies and happy Friday!

Only working till noon today, then scooting out of the office to make my way towards Appleton! Joining my three best buddies from college to watch the Packers game tonight. On the way up, I'll be stopping to play a round at Mascoutin Golf Club, which gets a lot of praise as one of Wisconsin's hidden gem courses based on reviews I am seeing. I'll be watching hole fly overs on YouTube this morning and writing down some notes to try and prepare myself as best as I can. It looks pretty tight, so should be a fun challenge!

We are also playing 18 tomorrow morning at a course a couple of the guys play regularly, so that one they will at least be able to tell me where to try and hit shots. That course is more open and should be a bit easier (in theory) to score. 

Sunday, we are taking the boys to their first Brewers game and I CANNOT WAIT for that.

Legends--- Usually in good shape and home of the 6 hr rounds because they over book all the time. Locals here unless they are members on that package avoid all their courses like the plague.

Sea Trail Jones-- Surprises me the greens were not in good shape usually they have some of the best greens on the Strand

Prestwick--- IMHO one of the best courses on the Strand and one long tough course. They have just redone one of the sides and opened it up in like June or so

From sources I have talked to locally the World AM is not as big as it once was. Maybe that is the reason local media did not say much.

Can tell you a funny World AM story---- A few years ago when Indian Wells was open they had 2 days of the Word AM. Now our Pro roped off 4 spots on the range for members only. I was on the range hitting some of my persimmon woods and older irons like I am prone to do for the heck of it. Now the group they had there that day were the older division of players. In fact our Pro had gotten me to assist the WA staff to help set up the tees. I had helped and then went back to hitting balls. The official came on the porch with a megaphone announcing the players meeting. Of course it did not pertain to me and I kept on hitting. A minute later these 2 old geezers approached me and one said "they called the meeting and you have to attend" I told him thanks, but I was a member here and was not in the event to have fun. He said OK and the other one asked what I said? He told his bud who replied "good thing because I do not want to screw with a guy hitting old wood woods and rusty blade irons". I heard it and darn near bit a hole in my lip to keep from laughing. At that time I was in my 50s and I asked Joe our Pro at the time if I looked or swung like a geezer?" I told him what happened, and he cracked up. LOL of course now days I would fit right in that category

Yeah, I'm a reluctant fader of the ball myself, but I think there were two dogs left and five or six right. I'm a fan of variety even if doglegs to the left aren't my forte. 

Legends looks like a great facility and Parkland was a good track. Harder than Blackmoor, more variety in the layout and the course was in good shape. Sadly, they only had one staff member at the bagdrop, no one taking bags out and staging them on carts, no cards with names and tee times on the carts, sat around for at least a half hour to 45 mins beyond the posted tee time (can't fault them too much for this because there was a fog delay). You had to walk at least a couple hundred yards to the practice area, no hint that you had to get tokens for range balls (most places have range balls sitting on the range), etc. Just not a good start to that round.

The scuttlebutt was that they are renovating the entire Sea Trail facility and that Reese Jones was the last one to be renovated. Someone remarked that perhaps they had put so much into the other two tracks that the one we played had been neglected or that they were shutting it down right after the World Am. Regardless of the reasons, the greens were pretty pathetic. The rest of the course wasn't in bad shape if I'm remembering correctly.

And Prestwick. This was my third time playing that track, but first from the short tees (5863 yds). If it wasn't for a decent putting round (comparatively speaking), my worst score of the week (87) would have been even worse. I started bog, bog, triple, dbl at Prestwick! Definitely my favorite track of those I've played in Myrtle (21or 22 tracks).

I don't know how people view the World Am in Myrtle, but there were still just shy of 3,000 players registered and I'm pretty sure that with those many players and their families (for some), I bet it's a boost to the local economy. 

Well you old geezer you, I'm in the same boat and glad that I have more time for golf regardless of what I look and play like these days .

What do you try to move SBST? Hands, putter, shoulders?   How do you move your shoulders?  Vertically or horizontally?    Do you start the ball where aimed?

Ditto for the FL heat and humidty. I'm using four gloves during a round these days, and I might have to go to five. As I told Stephanie (my beloved spouse) the other day, "I'm a sweater...not a cardigan" har-dee-har-har . That's why $27 a pop is a bit much for this ole dude who didn't live life in a way that allows for big spending in retirement.

Good morning! A little dreary with some rain looming this morning. I had no golf planned anyway, but I was planning to do a lot around the house and help start the process of getting the lake stuff put away for winter. 

Since I don't have any golf planned, I'm channeling some of my good shots from my round on Wednesday evening. I played with a TM Tour Response ball that has the 360* wide line around the whole ball and it was a lot of fun to putt with! Watching the ball roll end over end is a real treat! I'll post some stats and stories from my round in the "How'd you play?" thread.

Not much going on today, just trying to get through another day of to do lists, Nice and comfortable weather no rain and partly sunny.

Hope yinz get out to play some golf this weekend and play well, going to fiddle on my Custom club work bench later on to get it set up, still need to fine tune the positioning of the equipment.

@Northern Monkey great news on the pup coming home, and hoping complete recovery time is short and smooth. 

I played yesterday with some retired military friends at a short course where I only take irons just for practice. More about the socializing and fun for this group.

Planned to head to Frankenmuth, MI later today for the start of their big Autofest, they start by driving and parking some cars on the main street for the evening before it really kicks-off Saturday and Sunday.

With the weather, I am unsure if I will make that drive.

Hope that your day is the best it can be, and that something fun and enjoyable is in your plans for today and the weekend. 

Any plans to visit Zehnder's or the Bavarian Inn while you're in Frankenmuth? My wife and daughter loved going there when I was assigned at the Lake Orion Assembly Plant.

Good Friday morning Spies!

Well made it through the round yesterday and the back behaved itself for the most part. A couple of little tweaks but was able to swing freely for the most part and play a respectable round. Kinda stiff and sore this morning but all is well and looking forward to Titleist fitting on Monday and club championship rounds next week.

@Northern Monkey great news on Blue Bear's recovery! Hope you are able to visit him soon as I'm sure it would be good for the morale of both of you?

@TAGolf13 I will have to check that out? How do they hold up for a cheaper glove?  I've bought those neoprene gloves with the sewn in leather pads off temu and they seem to hold up well for about 10 rounds before being stretched in the palm area.

I would say I start the stroke with my shoulders, moving horizontally. I have tried to keep my hands out of the putting stroke. Sometimes I start the ball where aimed, sometimes I just pull that sucker. Very rarely do I push a putt.

IMO,  and while we might be miscommunicating, the shoulders should be moving more vertical.  At setup arms hang naturally under your shoulders.   Since you power the stroke with shoulders the left shoulder drops down toward the ground until the stroke has reached its backswing length.  Then you can raise the left shoulder or drop the right to do the forward stroke.  If you were to put the outside of your hands against a wall without the putter, they just move straight back and then straight through.  
 

moving the shoulders horizontal means they are turning parallel to the ground.  As a result ball position becomes more critical.  Ball  slightly forward starts moving the ball left.  You probably dont push because you play ball forward of center and the face is square to closed at impact.

9 holes this morning and I couldn’t have played worse!  Greens were really nice rest of course decent shape but a little juicy from last 3 days of evening rain.  
Only good part was putting.  I brought out and old Ping Anser 2 BeCu and it was dead on.  Driver, hybrid And irons just horrid.  You never know in this game.

I've been pretty heads down this week with the short week post-holiday for work but starting to get caught up. Really excited that the Skytrak shipping notice came through so I can start to get the garage sim set up!

OK, I see what you're saying. Left shoulder does drop as I take the putter back, then rise as I hit the putt.

I think those gloves sold in the Pro Shop for $15 to $20 each. I can buy like 4 of the Wilson gloves for around $22 and they last longer

Dude! You must be my brother from another mother. I'm the only player I've come across that wears a wrist band on the course. Of course I'm used to them from tennis and I can't imagine playing in this weather without them. i used to game those Wilsons from Wally World too until I found a better deal with these Finger Tens . I'm flirting with incorporating something else no one else wore on the tennis court. Actually had some made for me to wear in tennis tournaments and while teaching. Probably won't fly on a golf course, but I just might test that hypothesis out. I've also been thinking about wearing a towel tucked into my shorts like I used to do in tennis as well. Slippery hands don't work well in either game.

Good morning spies from the White Mountain Apache reservation Hon Doh rv park. 

So the fitting for a new driver yesterday was loads of fun. I tried the Mizuno ST Max, Ping G430 Max 10K, the Callaway AI Smoke, and the Taylormade QI10. I fully intended to walk away with no new club because I was convinced they could not improve on my 5 year old technology in my Taylormade Sim. 

Yeah, I was wrong, but holy crap I spent a lot of money on a single club. But, it brought my driver shots into a 30 yard circle in the middle of the simulated fairway and gave me 25 extra yards in carry. 25 yards. To me that was huge. 

Okay, okay, okay it is a Taylormade AI10 with a https://fujikuragolf.com/woods/speeder-nx/. That Fujkura shaft is amazing, but you pay dearly for that amazing. We are putting the Blue on my driver.

When I get back to the world of good internet I will put up a fitting write up as well as one on shaft comparison. I tried 4 different shafts and the differences there were quite interesting as well.
