After Hours Spy Saloon

Hit the range at lunch today and worked through every bag in the club, just because I haven't in awhile and only got to play 9 holes last week, and hard arguably the best range session of my life that I can remember. Started out with my 52* wedge and was working through some issues I've been having with striking that particular club, which went OK. I would say I was 50/50 with that club. Moved to my 60* just to have a little fun hitting some really high flops and then went through the bag in the following order: GW, PW, 9 ,8, 7, 6, 3 hybrid, 7 wood, 3 wood, driver. I have been working again on my takeaway and not getting the club inside, and today was trying to focus on keeping my weight more on my front side. Led to some really, really good contact. I was also hitting some high, baby draws with irons that I again have never had that shape in my life. Only missed, in total, 5ish balls left through my irons. 

Went driver, and just last week decided I was going to go with the Aerojet Max from the Cobra Challenge as the last H2H I did on the course, it was just more consistent than TSi3. I think TSi heard about my post, because I could not miss with it today. Every ball was straight or just a slight fade, at intended target, and while I don't have exact distances, were getting out as long as I can remember hitting it. Aerojet Max was also good, but mishits weren't quite as long as the slight misses with the TSi. I did bring the loft setting down to 9.5* Draw setting and absolutely smoked some that were right in contention with the TSi. That spot in the bag is back open, and I am thinking of taking TSi out for league tomorrow. 

Was a really fun session today as it was one of those days where I was just striking the ball really well. Hoping to carry it over to league tomorrow.

... Thought I would throw some wildlife out there and I imagine many of you have your own experience to share. After seeing the Bear up in Hoserland steal golf bag right off a cart, I would post a much tamer interaction. Roadrunners are ruthless, viscous predators to lizards, snakes and other birds but tame when begging for food from humans. I have most of them trained at my muni when I rattle the wrapper on my organic fruit and nut bar. Even from 50yds away they will come running like Wiley Coyote is chasing them riding an Acme Rocket.

That's really cool, Sam! Those bird are tiny and not at all what one would imagine after years of watching Looney Tunes. That little fella looks like he's happy to be waking off with some delicious morsels.

This is awesome!!!  We have dual creeks crossing the fairway on #17 at my home club; in the second creek as we crossed the bridge over it, there was a raccoon swimming on his back like an otter.  It was the weirdest and funniest nature encounter we've had yet.

We had wait for a gator to cross the green before we could chip on at Founders in Pawleys Island 

We see deer, woodchuck, rabbits all the time here in Pennsylvania.

... Probably bigger than the video makes them look as they are around 2 feet tall. I rarely see them run like the cartoon as they usually run about 1/4-1/2 speed but when they sprint, 25 mph looks insanely fast.

I think that roadrunner needs to learn to not beat a dead horse or  rodent in the case of that video

... Nature don't play games. Better to do some extra bashing than eating them alive.   My golf courses is a National Geographic special since there are no houses and plenty of land with trees and bushes for an abundance of wildlife. Coyotes vs rabbits. Hawks vs rabbits/squirels. Anhinga's vs fish. Roadrunners vs lizards/snakes/rodents. Hackers vs water/trees/bushes/rocks/desert and their own swing after some rickie bobbie tips.

Nope. Didn’t tinker too much. Just can’t get this thing rolling the way I did last summer. It’s one of three.

My TSi3 was benched for my last round for bad behavior as well, did a decent job tonight though so all has been forgiven.

My uncle still plays the G410 and hits absolute tanks with it.

Can someone help a brother out. How much does cutting an inch off of a driver shaft affect swing weight, or switching from a 60g to a 70g shaft?

... I hav just played with golfers hitting new Taylor Made or Titleist that weren't too happy and thinking about going back to their old driver. But never a Ping. I tried talking my 81 yr old pard into demoing some new drivers as he is still playing the original G that is almost 6 yrs old now. I found him a NVS 45 in senior flex and he wanted to try it in his G before demoing a new driver. After putting on an adaptor, he added about 15yds with it his first round and said "I'm good".

... There is no uniform numbers due to counter balanced shafts and differences between a 60gm and 70gm shaft. But in general you can expect to lose about 5 to 6 swing weight points cutting off 1" all things being equal. The shaft may feel a little stiffer and adding some lead tape to the head usually addresses that. Best thing to do is add a strip at the range and see how it feels. Then keep adding another strip til it feels too heavy and remove the last strip. You can leave th tape or have the head hot melted for that swing weight.

I started out absolutely smitten with my G425 Max. It’s been listed in the classifieds thread for the past month, if that gives you any indication of current feelings about it. Though I will concede it’s more of an archer, not the arrow thing with me and that club. If no one buys it, I’m sure it will end up back in the rotation sooner or later

If we wanna really talk about classic Ping drivers, I’ve got a buddy that still plays a G5 driver. Absolutely loves it and will not try anything new lol. He’s also a cheapskate and doesn’t like to spend on clubs but he hits it really well!

Haha no, he’s not the membership type. I love the guy to death, one of the few people in my life I can truly call a best friend and on the short list of people I’d trust to leave my kids with. That said, he’s a different level of penny pinching. Has all of his lights, electronics, etc., plugged into power strips that he unplugs when he leaves his apartment for the day so they aren’t drawing any extra electricity .

Chisag was obviously correct that there are many factors when it comes to a shaft, but if it is just 10 gram increase you add 1 SW point.
