@GolfSpy_APH I may need a sub for this week as we will be out of town until Saturday afternoon at best and there is an event at the course Sunday. Was hoping to pair two 9 hole rounds together early this week but rain is forecasted today-Wednesday and we leave Thursday. I will get an answer for sure this evening so you don’t have to scramble. Hoping I can figure something out but just to be safe if you want to look at finding a sub if it doesn’t pan out this week.

Given we have five weeks of competition (including the playoffs), we knew we would need to have substitutes to fill in when needed.    So yes, for those teams that make the playoffs and need a substitute, you can pick up someone.  I would encourage you to pick someone who has subbed for you already or a person who has not from a non-playoff match play team.

@GolfSpy_APH if we do make the playoffs, I’ll do my best to get a round in. If not, definitely designate someone as the fill in so we still have a score for this week. If we’d advance further, next week will be no problem that I can see

Like there's not enough drama in today's world, I'm going to add to it.   Since not all of the scores are in yet (8:00 PM deadline), I thought I would release the results where all the divisional matches were completed.

Starting with the Palmer Division!

If you remember after week 2, The Muscle Backs and L.A.B. Results:  In the Cup were a top of the Palmer Division with 2.5 points closely followed by 0.5 points the Texas2KeyWest team.  Here are the match play results of week 3:

image.png.5aa04ccbdf568ee30ccd84982f3ef391.png

The Barbie's Birdie Bandits had four great rounds and knocked off the former first place L.A.B. Results team.  Bkervin and Glenmore5 combined for -14 while Hasty and MsWalkerOfSky combined for -11.  Very tough to beat.  In the other matches, Muscle Backs and Texas2KeyWest split their two matches.  That left the week three results as follows:

image.png.f80d68da835dcaa9290856e0f0c4858f.png

Adding Week 3 results into the overall standings yielded the Palmer divisional round robin results as follows:

The first team to make it to the Match Play playoffs is The Muscle Backs!  They nose out both Barbie's Birdie Bandits and Texas2KeyWest by 0.5 points!  Congratulations @GolfSpy TCB, @Tom the Golf Nut, @Bohnson, @Mikedb26 and sub @Shank Aaron.  You move on!

Next is the ....Vardon Division!  If you remember after Week 2, Golf Cart Posse had a one point lead over The Distinguished Gentlemen (3.5 to 2.5 respectively).  As fate would have it, they were paired against one another in Week 3.

Here are Week 3 results:

image.png.357ce028f3618cbcd1e3a1caf4ab5f01.png

In very hard-fought battles, Distinguished Gentlemen took down Golf Cart Posse 2 and 1 as well as 2 UP.  In both matches it came down to the last three holes.   Midwest Aces took care of business against Push Cart Mafia winning both matches.

So for Week 3, the standings are below:

image.png.adc425784cf9c2a9f21bdb12a76cede6.png

Added together with the previous two weeks and you get the following.

image.png.95262a8838711e40f5bf9518b6159e62.png

Due to their two win performance in Week 3, Distinguished Gentlemen leap frog over Golf Cart Posse to be the Vardon Division champions.  In the playoffs this week, they will be taking on The Muscle Backs in four individual match play matches.

Congratulations @GolfSpy_APH, @Berg Ryman, @Jnoble89, and @CB Lobo 4 Life!

The next division is the Nicklaus Division.  If you remember, after Week 2 Sharkey Mac'n Swans held a half-point advantage over The Fight Club (3.5 points versus 3.0 respectively).  Oddly enough, again the two top teams in the division faced off in Week 3.

Here are the results:

image.png.df963fda92b01f242a447c436d6772b4.png

The Fight Club's Blake Hopkins and J7Hawkins halved the first match against GolfSpy_BNG and LinksgolfFever.  Even at hole 15, GolfSpy_BNG/LinksgolfFever birdied 16, Blake Hopkins/J7Hawkins birdie 17 and they both birdied 18 to tie.  Sharkey's fredsharky and swansosa dominated the second match shooting a collective -14 and taking down The Fight Club team of Brian A and srooch2.  Birdie McGee and the Bogey Boys took care of business  with two wins over Questionable Judgement.

Week 3 results were as follows:

image.png.c42cf46e132f734c3464d66f55b4df80.png

Leaving the final divisional round robin results as follows:

image.png.78a9ffde9c0d2c1ebca0203b30153a06.png

In the end, with their Week 3 performance, Sharky Mac'n Swans takes the Nicklaus Division and moves into the playoffs against the winners of the Hagen Division.  Congratulations @GolfSpy_BNG, @fredsharky, @LinksgolfFever and @swansosa!

image.png.357ce028f3618cbcd1e3a1caf4ab5f01.png

In very hard-fought battles, Distinguished Gentlemen took down Golf Cart Posse 2 and 1 as well as 2 UP.  In both matches it came down to the last three holes.   Midwest Aces took care of business against Push Cart Mafia winning both matches.

So for Week 3, the standings are below:

Added together with the previous two weeks and you get the following.

Let’s go fellas! @GolfSpy_APH @Berg Ryman @CB Lobo 4 Life time to roll in the playoffs!! 🔥🔥🔥

Finally, what proved to be the closest finish of all the Divisions:  The Walter Hagen Division.  If you remember, after Week 2 Duckboats 2.0 held a one point lead over both In The Cup Kids and Net Birdie (3.0 to 2.0 respectively).  Here the first place team played the forth place team Birdie Blasters and the two tied for second place faced off.

Here's the results of Week 3 in the Hagen Division:

image.png.9b97a701858c79df5728b075319f0bd6.png

In the first matches, Randall Robbins and USMCSnyper dominated JohnSmalls and Placasse61 winning 4 and 3.  In that match, Birdie Blasters were never down.  In the second match, GolfSpy_CG2 and his partner, substitute Paco Chan (shooting a collective -12) won three of the last four holes taking them 2 and 1.  Javs and GolfSpy BOS were no slouches shooting a collective -10.  In the other two matches, second place teams In the Cup Kids and Net Birdie split their matches, each winning 2 up and each taking 6 holes to 4 (that will be important later).

So, Week 3 standings are as follows:

image.png.afd2d52d95e0ac410f6e9b9c23e44f8c.png

Add Week 3 with the two previous weeks and you get (those good at math will get this quickly):

image.png.3cfd17ab04894a40d88c64a161506410.png

ALL FOUR TEAMS TIED WITH IDENTICAL SCORES AND THREE POINTS!

Move on to the tie breaker.  First is head to head.  That's useless as they all had the same win/loss record.  For those who remember a week ago, I wrote about the second tie breaker, the number of holes won.  By the slightest margin, Duckboats 2.0 take the Hagen Division by winning two more holes than In the Cup Kids and three more than Net Birdie and Birdie Blasters!   Just to be sure, I had to check it three times!

Congratulations @GolfSpy BOS, @Javs, @JohnSmalls ,  @Placasse61 and @TylorJudd who subbed!

Wow! Lets go Duck Boats 2.0

There you have it!   After three weeks of hard fought team match play, four teams have made it into the playoffs.

The semi finals are as follows:  Duckboat Vol 2.0 take on Sharky Mac'n Swans.  In the other match, The Distinguished Gentlemen take on The Muscle Backs.

Unlike the previous two weeks, all the matches will be individual.   So, no teams for this and the finals next week.  Captains, please post the order in which you want your team members to go out.  As in the past weeks, you have until Sunday (September 24) to play your round and Monday (September 25) to post it.

This should be exciting.

Hey, guess what? You're a LEGEND for getting all this done!!

Also, I broke 80 for the first time in my life, so I'm not going to let a little thing like getting ABSOLUTELY BURIED by @MsWalkrOfSkyand team ruin my fun 😜

Congrats to the groups moving on! I'm playing Friday and am available to pinch-hit if anyone needs A GUY WHO IS CAPABALE OF BREAKING 80, Baby!!!

Mark is going to spank me around the course IRL somewhere. Call it a “Forum Staff Retreat” that just happens to be on a golf course.
