Today was an awesome round. I tweaked a slight flaw in my swing while warming up. Took that fix to the course and bam. Hit 11 fairways with 6 drives over 290. Hit 14 greens and had 30 putts. The front was not anything special. A 1 under with 2 birdies and 1 bogey. Then the back. It all came together. Shot a 5 under 31 with 2 lip outs. Hit 8 greens and had 14 putts on that side. That was 2 putt birdies on both par 5’s I hit in 2. It was cold, windy and maybe one of the best rounds I had this year! Needless to say very pleased and we played by the rules! Now that it is after the announcement, I can say this round was played with the Odin Golf Ball.

@Javs Probably 80% mental. I can chip well but I don’t think I take the proper time to take a few practice motions. I walk up thinking “this will be easy, just nice and easy” then I blade it across the green. When I take the time to practice the motion, it usually goes better. I’m usually not wanting to take the time to practice the motion. I hate slow play so much that I end up causing slow play from hitting too many shots because I didn’t practice. 😔 It’s a vicious circle.

You can you tube proper technique or get lessons. Chipping and putting save strokes and make the game more enjoyable. However, mindset wise I would ask. What is your goal when facing a chip? Are you playing chipping technique or playing golf? Meaning do you pick a spot on the green for the ball to go (depending on type shot and length)? Personally I am trying to chip it in on most every chip shot. Aim small miss small! Good luck!

Decided to get out at daylight this morning and brave the 40 degree temps and try to be done before the kids got up.

I played well and actually remembered the distance loss with the cold so adjusted and it worked out well.  I made an adjustment on my driver to help with rotation and had some good drives and some that were offline just with the new setup.

Overall, happy with the round and had several solid chances at birdie just because of positioning in the fairway.

Front 9 had one bad tee shot that went OB and made double and then 3 bogies and a birdie on the back 9

This might be my only round to post this week.  Thursday through Sunday we're suppose to get five inches of rain and winds 25-35 mph or more.  Today was 67 degrees with 20 mph winds.  I know, there's more than one of you that would love to have those conditions!

image.png.09ac024a3dfbebc75756457d730e8a72.png

It was a very uninspiring round today.  I missed more fairways than usual, had a three putt (granted it was likely one of the longer putts we have on our course) and missed too many 8-12 foot putts.   No one in my group played well and it was infectious.

If you haven't been to the Southernmost start/end of US 1 and played our course, here is our eighth hole.

8thHole.jpg.06ceb97f0f7a7d33b3561974665fe31c.jpg

It's plays anywhere between 129 to 185 yards over protected mangroves with bunkers running across the entire front and back of a narrow green that slopes front to back.  There's a reason it's rated the nineth toughest hole on the course.  This picture was taken shortly after the staff got into the mangroves and gave them a trim.  When the branches get taller, it gets tougher to see the green.

For those playing SIM golf on Trackman over the winter months, I got tired of scrolling through the 275+ courses from around the world, so I created a spreadsheet to make things easier.  I have not yet played all the courses, particularly many of the European and Asian courses.  If I played it and found it interesting, challenging, scenic, links or one of the classics it went into the spreadsheet.  It's a work in progress, but it makes it far easier in deciding which course to play.  Hope this helps others.

Birdied the first....greens were set at 11.  Hard pins....3 putted one green after being 11 foot from the hole on my tee shot.  Doubled it....pretty consistent off the tee with my driver.  Struggling with my approaches with my hybrids, high fades all the time.

1 1/2 hour frost delay, cart path only(12,547 steps) rough going.  Purchased a Callaway GBB 5 wood from Callaway preowned-still had the plastic wrapper on it— replaced 3 wood.  Set it at 17 deg loft, draw bias and hit it pretty good.  Just really hard to play when bundled up.

Today's round was a bonus!  The rain held off to later today.  However, we had 28 mph constant winds with gusts to 40.  The next three days we're expecting 5 inches of rain (we actually could use it), so no rounds this weekend!

image.png.3d38ed79a1b76585c17cff2c3f492c93.png

It's strange to say, but with 28 putts, my approach shots and putter let me down today.  I got up and down for seven bogeys.  Throw in the two for par and chipping was decent.   My putts for the most part were all around the pin, but not in.   I think our course is fighting some fungus or other green issues as two of the greens have been top dressed which this time of year is very unusual.

Hopefully by next Tuesday the rain will subside, the high winds will help dry out the course and we'll be back enjoying golf!

Third round with the Odin Golf Ball. I am 12 under par in three rounds with this ball. I had two bogey free rounds and only made one bogey in three rounds! Today I hit 11 or 14 fairways and 17 greens. Had 31 putts with 5 lip outs. This golf ball is fantastic. So much that my 1 handicap is about to drop to 0! Hard to get much movement on your handicap at this level, but this ball is going to get me to plus!!

Javs, you might have to stick with the Odin golf ball. It obviously agrees with your game.  -7, -5, -3 is very impressive. Well done.

Javs, you might have to stick with the Odin golf ball. It obviously agrees with your game.  -7, -5, -3 is very impressive. Well done.

Thank you and I agree. This ball is a game changer!

Fire!  You have posted some amazing scores my friend!  Watching for info on the testing of Odin!  Keep up the solid play!
