Jmikecpa
Played one of my last rounds of the year today in an outing at The Creek Club on the north shore of Long Island. Have not touched a club in 3+ weeks so no idea what to expect. Start on #11 which played 194 straight down wind....7 iron to a three feet. #12 ripped a driver up the left center, lob wedge from 42 yards to a foot and -2. went to poop the next three holes with a double and two all world pars. Ended up shooting 76 for the day thanks to a chip in, hole out wedge and some great putting. Drove it great some of the time and poorly others. Only constant was my short game and I putted lights out. #18 summed up my round. Drive well left into the trees and somehow had a shot into the par 5. Layed up to 35 yards and my pitch shot checked and came back to my feet off the false front. Hot pretty much the same shot and holed it out for a birdie. Sometimes it is better to be lucky. My partner made an all world par as well. Tee shot snap hooked into the trees and bounces out to the middle of the fairway with a brutal downhill lie. Tries to hit hybrid and catches another tree and it bounces out. 7 iron to six feet for a routine par. Off to China twice this month which should effectively end my golf year in NY. mbrodeur86, Undershooter and Jfontes 3 Quote WITB 2024 Driver: Qi10 LS 9* Ltd. jaxbeachpackerfan
Wow, first round in the 80's in quite a while. Incorporating swing changes from lessons, have been struggling with numerous very bad, stoke losing, shots per round, interspersed with some promising ones. Today, only one of those shots, plus putted pretty well. 42-43/85 on the TPC Valley at a member special day after Web.com Tour Championship "play the course as the pros played it Sunday". Same pin positions, same green speed (of course, us ams just played our regular tees). Didn't hit a lot of "quality shots", but kept out of trouble and minimized the "truly bad" shots. revkev
et tu jbil? I can so relate to your round that it's not funny. What is it about those short shots that plagued us? Only today's range session will tell for me. @Jax - another words you got to play the course with less rough than the pros - Watching the Players I thought that the rough was not as thick as when we played Sawgrass. Nope--very thick rough, they were lucky to get mowers out for the fairways. Recall that Thursday, Jonattan Vegas hit a drive on seventeen just off the fairway to the right. Never found his ball, had to retee, hit his next shot in the water and ended up with a quad. dhayse32
Well this season ended on a high note! Myself, Casey_0507 and another buddy of ours played in a 2-day Calcutta tourney. Saturday was just horrible, 50* 25mph+ winds and rain all day...and Sunday was the exact opposite, nearly 80* and sunny. Hole locations were similar to a putt-putt course, just missing the clowns mouth and the windmill. Case and point, hole 5 is a long par 5, hole is about 15ft up the hill but there is ZERO chance of stopping the ball. Either hit the putt or it rolls right back off. There was a team that was putting for a birdie 5 and left with a triple...it took them 14 putts. Tee boxes were all the way back and some were even built just for this event to make holes even more brutal. Anyway, we squeezed out a -4 on the first day which got us in the second flight with 16 teams. We bought our team for $250, which we were happy with. Ended up shooting -7 on Sunday to finish 1-stroke back (two teams at -12). We tied with a few teams but won the tiebreakers to finish 3rd. Brought home about $515/person. It is officially deer season here in Indiana and I will not be on the course much until the spring! revkev and MattF 2 Quote M1 10.5* - Tour AD BB-6X 10F.d. 13.5* - Graffaloy Bi-Matrix X 915Hd 20.5* - Aldila Tour Green T-MB 2-iron - Aldila Tour Green 716 AP2 5-PW - KBS C-Taper Lite X SM6 50/56 - DG S400 Kombi S 35"

revkev
Played a quick 9 this afternoon and shot 37, 3 bogeys, 2 birdies, 4 pars. Birdied both of the par 3's. I actually only had one hole that played down wind. At one point I played 4 and 5 into the wind and they run parallel in opposite directions. The Sea breeze kicked in just in time for me to hit my approach shot on 4 over the green. MattF
Played at Wilkshire in Bolivar, OH yesterday with Sean and Scott. evershady
Played in a one man scramble yesterday for the first time. It was fun and I shot a 65 on a par 70 course. 2 bogeys first came on 3 after a birdie birdie start, hooked both tee shots into the right side hazard. Missed about an 8 footer for par only putt I felt I could have really made. The other was on hole 8 where a lake lines the right side trying to somewhat stay away from that both ball went way left one hit a tree and was lost the other was under some trees about 150 out just made poor club choice for the punch and didn't get close enough. Being an 11 handicap and only ever breaking 80 once dropping 7 birdies felt good. And even through the round took 5 and a half hours it seemed like we were moving at a good pace staying with the group ahead and in front of the group behind without much waiting. Kenny B
I played yesterday at a local course that I haven't played this year. It was a beautiful day; sunshine 78 with a light breeze. However, I had a bad front 9 with 4 doubles; should have been drinks! I started the back 9 with another double. Then the wind came up; 25-35 with gusts to 50, but still managed to shoot a 42 for an 86. Did not hit the driver good on Saturday, but corrected it on Sunday. My salvation this weekend was my wedge play.....out of the bunker with 3 foot putt for par, 65 yard shot to within 2 feet of hole for Par, etc. I love my SCOR wedges, and think I have finally figured out the best way to drive with the Paderson shaft. sp0rtsfan86
Had an interesting round. Started off at 4 PM Sunday, which makes the first Sunday I've played in months. I lost every ball in my bag, but still managed an 86. How? A ton of pars and some really clutch putting on a few holes. My driving was erratic to say the least. My irons were not exactly crisp, but my short game has seemingly been excellent out of nowhere. (truthfully since I read David Pelz book on it). revkev
Played today - it was so ridiculously ugly - I was sick the beginning of the week, haven't picked up a club in a week and was struggling some before that. I thought, "Well if I hit the range maybe I will be okay." Oh no guy whom I haven't seen in a while saw me and started chatting - I must have said, "Well good luck on your round!" ten times. He didn't get the hint until he heard the starter call my name -no warm up. At any rate because we were playing a match I didn't pay attention to what I was shooting. When we added it up in the end it was 82. It felt like 100 - If it had been 78, 4 little strokes lower, I would have been happy (this was a reasonably challenging course.) Just goes to show you that perception is everything and you can slash the ball all over the place and still shoot a score that lots of folks would be content with. I do get to play twice next week so maybe I can start to find some rhythm - I'll go to the back tee before next Tuesdays round. mbrodeur86 1 Quote Taylor Made Stealth 2 10.5 Diamana S plus 60 Aldila R flex - 42.25 inches SMT 4 wood bassara R flex, four wood head, 3 wood shaft Ping G410 7, 9 wood Alta 65 R flex Srixon ZX5 MK II 5-GW - UST recoil Dart 65 R flex India 52,56 (60 pending) UST recoil 75's R flex Evon roll ER 5 32 inches It's our offseason so auditioning candidates - looking for that right mix of low spin long, more spin around the greens - TBD
Kenny B
My wife took yesterday afternoon off, and after I posted my review of the Nike Method Converge putter, we went to a local course that we have only played a couple of times in the last year. I played from the Blues and of course she played from the forward tees. I shot 81 with 3 doubles so it could have been much better. My problem was the greens were pretty quick and judging the roll of chips around the green was a challenge. I putted OK; making one 30 footer for par!! It's getting tougher to beat her. She shot 86 which tied her best score of the year, but this round was on a par 72 course and the other one was a par 66. One of these days she will be beating me consistently. One of the hazards of being 8 years older! mbrodeur86 1 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

jaxbeachpackerfan
We have had probably the two most perfect weather/golf weather days that I could ever hope to experience the past couple of days. Played a charity scramble yesterday on the Sawgrass course (where they used to play the Players before they built the Stadium). Superfast greens, but I tend to putt much better on those. We finished fourth, which was awesome because it was non-handicapped and our group was all 15-18 handicaps and there were several groups with close to scratch players in them. Shot 64 as a team and I sank birdie or par saving putts on 9 of the holes and had four birdies off of my approaches and putts. Played again today (the neurostimulator now allows me to play two days in a row) on TPC Valley. Shot an 88, but couldn't sink a putt. Made one of six five feet or under putts (greens were much slower). Drove well, irons were problematic. Knock out the triple on a yanked drive on six and make 2 or 3 of those putts I should have hit and it could have been a pretty good round for my 18 hdcp. jbil8802
I lost the 19 man shootout today on #18. 19 guys start on #1 and the worst score gets eliminated on every hole. mbrodeur86
Well Canadian fall weather sucks. We've been getting snow showers but nothing staying at this point. Thought I would go out and play a 36 on foot with the Snell My Tour and the MG Tour C4. It was 0 degrees Celsius (32 Fahrenheit) and by the time I finished it was +2 (35 Fahrenheit) First round with the Snell finished with a 78. My short game was wicked good thanks to my new voice caddie vc200. I was chipping a lot but leaving myself putts inside 1 foot most of the day. 7 fairways and 5 greens. Round 2 with the MG Tour C4....72. I shot my lowest round EVER with and even round 72. 8 fairways and 8 greens. I was actually -3 under after 11 holes. The voice caddie was really awesome. It gave me great numbers and kept me from second guessing my clubs. My short game was incredible. My drives were average and my iron was was really good. Handicap now down to 5.8 and I'm on cloud 9 Undershooter, revkev and MattF 3 Quote DRIVER: Stealth 2, 9*, Mitsubishi Kai' Li red, 60g Stiff flex, Golf Pride CP2 Pro Midsize Woods: Sim Max 3 Wood, 15*, Fujikura Ventus 6 Blue 65g, Stiff flex, Golf Pride CP2 Pro Midsize HYBRIDS: JPX 850 hybrid 19*, UST Proforce V2 85g, Stiff, Golf Pride CP2 Pro Midsize IRONS: MP-20 HMB 4 iron, Project X LZ 6.5 shaft, Stiff+, Ping Midsize grip JPX 919 Tour 5i-pw, Project X LZ 6.5 shafts, Stiff+, Ping Midsize grips WEDGES: New Level Golf 50*, 55*, 60* M-Type Wedges with True Temper Elevate Tour X-Stiff flex, New Level Midsize grips PUTTER: Heppler Ketsch 35", Ping PP62 Pistol Grip BALL: Pro Pro V1 (2021 + 2023 Versions) BAG: TM19 Select Plus Cart Bag Shoes: Under Armour HOVR Fade 2 SL Spikeless Shoes Tech: NX7 Pro Slope golf laser Rangefinder Frogger Golf Towels, 4 more Yard blue/ yellow golf tees
