Another day of 60 (temp) or so and sunny... in Ohio... In November! Awesome fall weather this year! Went out yesterday and today just get my rounds in while the sun shines. Had a 93 yesterday and my personal best 88 today. Played at Irish Hills (Mount Vernon), they have the course in great shape - with temps dropping and the ground a little soft, the ball isn't going as far and not much rollout, having to use a little more club than usual - but thoroughly enjoyed it!

Second round after the last lesson.  Much, much better.  Had shot a dismal 52/43 last Friday, day after lesson.  Today, a 40/45 (yes, same course, same nines).  Last four rounds, 85-96-83-95-85.  Wild ride, but trending very good.  Continuing to hit a significantly higher percentage of quality shots than I have in years.  Putting was a challenge again today because they just sanded the greens, following a rye grass overseeding a couple of weeks ago.  No problems with the lines, but figuring out the distance putting through sand patches was a challenge.  Heading to Bradenton for a family wedding tomorrow, so no golf or range for a week.

Did I mention it was sunny, 80, and light winds today?

Finally got back to playing after a 2 week absence and really playing 3 times in the last 5 weeks. Both rounds this weekend I finished about 13 holes. Twice my stomach bug got to the point I couldn't think straight, other than hoping I didn't soil myself. I shot an 87 ish Saturday and was a bit worse on Sunday. Finally figured out my driver somewhat. Now it's more or less just getting a bit more consistent and then going from there.

Took a spur of the moment trip to Myrtle Beach last Thursday and came back Monday for my buddy's birthday. Had a great time even though the courses we played Friday, Saturday, and Sunday were soaked. Friday we played at TPC, Saturday was King's North, Sunday was Long Bay, and Monday was Grande Dunes. Really enjoyed all four courses although Grande Dunes was pretty dry and was probably my favorite of the bunch. Long Bay was my least favorite although I always tend to struggle on unfamiliar Jack Nicklaus courses. I felt like I played horrible but managed 80s all four days at sea level in soaking wet conditions from 6800-7100 yards. I think I got the yips with my irons and wedges halfway through the trip. Maybe due to the super wet conditions? Hopefully a few buckets at the range tomorrow will work it out.

We did play Grande Dunes from 7100 yards and it was a little wet. I felt like it was playable for me. Most approach shots between 130-180 yards. Par 3s were 180-210. Really cool golf course and a good experience since I've never played one that long. The tips were 7500 and I have no idea whatsoever how anyone could play them under par.

Shot an 82 today. Still struggling with poor ball striking. Scrambled my butt off and putted well which kept it from getting out of hand.

Thought I made good progress at the range yesterday. My buddy/coach watched me stripe balls for about 10 minutes yesterday. He says there's nothing to change and that when I get on the course I need to just not care about where the ball goes and make free swings like I do at the range. Easier said than done it seems but I know he's right.

Tough day today played a new course with incredibly fast and undulating greens. Took about 6 holes to figure out the greens and get loose since I didn't have time to warm up. But I shot 41-37 without any birdies and no doubles so I can't be to upset. Let a 40ft putt one from falling in on the high side.

Also this round was played with 10 new clubs I. The bag also.

The round was a blast we had fun and a few times had to back off shots because we were laughing so hard.

Shot a 41/45=86 on Saturday, came in tied for 2nd place in the points game.......Drives, albeight not long, were in the Fairway. Irons felt good off the face....short game was great, especially the 49* wedge.  Putts were okay....missed an 18 incher on the front nine.  Overall, the round felt pretty good.....was glad to break 90 again.

Teed off at 9am yesterday morning. Temperature was a cool 35°. Played by myself and walked. Definitely helped keep me warm. Played pretty solid, I was 3 over through 14.

My buddy called me at that point wanting to play so I went back to #1 to play 9. Somewhere along the way from the #15 tee box to the #1 tee box any remote form of golf skill that I thought I had totally vanished. Played the front 9 somewhere around 10 or 12 over. Should've just finished my round and went home.

First time walking by myself. Had no one in front of me and I have to say it was really peaceful and relaxing.

Played with Foz and a couple of other friends yesterday. Had a solid front, hit the ball well, made a silky club choice into one green that cost me. Had a great look at birdie on 10 and was in the middle of the fairway from 120 yards on 11 and the wheels came off!

The only fairway that I hit the rest of the way in is 60 yards wide at least. Three doubles latter I had a big fat 44 on the back. The good news was that I had a great day on a beautiful afternoon, I hit my irons fairly well and putted well too. I also know what the driver issue was, I had slid the weight all the way to fade and forgotten to move it back to the setting I was fit for. For me that meant block when I got a little tired. The weight is back on neutral. :)

BTW Foz started slow and hit it great on the back. He drove it very straight which is the key on that nine.

I shot a 50/43=93 at The Bayou Club in Largo, FL with the Rev and a couple friends.  It took awhile to get my driver adjusted, but once it hit the fairways, I was golden.  The front nine found me in the trees off the tee as I could not get my driver around.  This cost me several punchouts and a lost ball. The back side was much narrower.  The greens were as hard as the kitchen counter and very fast....fun to play, hard to score.  I did drop one in from 15' for par. The Bayou Club is private, but with an invitation, it is one club that you do not want to pass up.  Absolutely gourgeous!  Thanks Rev for the invite.

Played yesterday, sunny and cool (high 60s) with a bit of a breeze, but very pleasant.  Had my eighth round in the 80's out of the last 10, so lessons are starting to have the positive impact.  Shot 88, but very up and down round the whole day.  A birdie, 6 pars and 6 doubles, with four of the doubles caused by topped tee shots or irons.  Guess I was letting a sway creep back into my swing.

Did hit by far my best three wood ever, given the difficulty and quality of the shot.  Drive on 15 was pulled sharply into the trees, but fortunately popped back to the edge of the fairway.  Unfortunately, the ball was 234 yds out.  Plus, the hole is a slight dogleg left, and my shot to the green was blocked by a live oak about 80 yds from the green.  Grabbed my three + wood and aimed for the right side of the green (no trouble over there, just mounding and plenty of room).  Absolutely flushed it, exploded off the clubhead.  Better yet, took off straight, then drew a little bit, landed on the front of the green and rolled just past the flag, leaving an 8 foot putt.  Unfortunately, can't cap off the story with a made birdie putt, but nonetheless, it was one of those shots one dreams of.

Nonchalant putts count the same as chalant putts.

Went out today at Irish Hills (Mt. Vernon area), course is still in good shape, and 60 degrees in Ohio on Nov. 25 - what's not to like! Walked 9 and shot a 48 - All summer/fall I made sure to play or practice at least a little 4 times a week, but I hadn't so much as swung a club in 8 days and it showed early on. Still, I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Played two 18's. The first one I had a 4 hole swing where I could not hit a ball. The other 18, I couldn't do much of anything. I need to hit the practice area for a bit just to retool and refocus my swing. I have a feeling I lost a bit of my rhythm and how I get my hips involved. I'll prob try to play again this weekend but who knows.

There was nothing like bonus golf when I lived up North!

A little quick commentary on Foz's pics. The first shot was from my drive on 7. That's what you look at for your lay up there. The second from just off of 15 green looking back at the Bayou that the course is named for. The third is from the 16th tee box. It's the signature hole, a par three that may be played from either side of the Bayou at anywhere from 120-210. We played it over the boys from 175 into a strong wind. The last shot was of us.

I'm playing Friday and Saturday. Anyone coming down has an invite to play, just PM me. Guest fees are a bit steep but they have an awesome $29 special twice a month. I always invite my local MGS buddies for those. So far Getagrip and Foz have been able to make it over.

I have my Annual Foz's Black Friday Game. I invite 7 players for a 2 foursome game.....This year our points average is a dead heat so it's straight up winner takes all, but the winning group buys the first round.

I think this is about the 10th year for this outing. We generally pick a course different from our regular(Pebble Creek) just to make it more interesting. This year's course is Quail Hollow GC located just 4 miles away.

Shot a nice solid 40-37, 77 in the blue tee game this morning - the blue tee is actually a blend between blues and whites (thank God.)  From those tees the course is 71.9/133 so I'm very happy with that round and yes the front nine is certainly 2 strokes more difficult than the back so long as you drive it straight on the back (I did today.)

Shot a 79 yesterday. I was one over on the front through 6. Poor club choices on 7 and 9 put me in "bad miss" areas which led to bogeys. On the back I was even through 15. Made a bogey on 16 due to a poor drive. Par 5 17th I had a 6 iron in for my second. Blocked it into the left greenside bunker then somehow shanked the bunker shot into the back greenside bunker. Got out and 2 putted for a bogey. Definitely had the potential to be my best round to date. Our team swept the other 3 foursomes with scores of 77, 79, 82, 82 and won $72 so it was a great day overall.

Playing again today so maybe today will be the day.

Yesterday was our last tournament of the year at one of my clubs. It was a 2 man shamble. I hit the ball beautifully. Im not sure I've ever driven the ball better. All super long and dead straight. We took every one of my tee shots for 18 holes. I hit 14 greens and got to 3 of the par 5s in 2. Problem was my short game was embarrassing. I putted terribly. It was like my hands had no feel in them. We ended up playing just bad enough to shoot 68 and finish tied for first in the first flight. Just annoying bc I prolly should've shot no worse than 67 on my own ball and if I had played well inside 50 yards I could've shot 62 or better. Sooooo frustrating...

Did not get to play today but did hit some balls. I think I have finally succeeded as a father though. The plan for next week at Disney was to play golf two days with my son and my girls would go get princess makeovers. Once they heard they were not playing golf they both threw fits until I packed their clubs. While not a fan of the fit I am pretty happy that they would rather golf with me than go to the salon. I am having a beer to celebrate a small victory!

Shot a smooth 46/46:92 today at my club, Pebble Creek. Was playing with an old putter : SSi 693. Have not gamed it in several years. It's a mid mallet type with a 365 gem head. Had a bit of trouble dialing in my putts. Missed some that I shouldn't have. Was sporting my new Ace putter shoe.

Was five over after 5 and somehow managed to pull it back together for a handicap 79 (I had to leave the course after my drive on 18 because my wife and daughter were in a fender bender - My drive was in the fairway, 185 to a back pin on a 412 yard hole so I was in good shape but took a bogey.  The drive was 241 into a slight breeze - I nutted it and got a nice hop as well.)

Taylor Made Stealth 2 10.5 Diamana S plus 60  Aldila  R flex   - 42.25 inches

SMT 4 wood bassara R flex, four wood head, 3 wood shaft

Ping G410 7, 9 wood  Alta 65 R flex

Srixon ZX5 MK II  5-GW - UST recoil Dart 65 R flex

India 52,56 (60 pending)  UST recoil 75's R flex

Evon roll ER 5 32 inches

It's our offseason so auditioning candidates - looking for that right mix of low spin long, more spin around the greens - TBD
