100% agree. That's why I'm not ready to give up on the copper quite yet.. but I'm also loving the idea of indiscrete and stealthy. Man this is tough!

That might send my OCD into orbit. Not to mention odd number of clubs, uneven symmetry of copper to stealth ratio.. I'm already getting itchy just thinking about it.

The problem is, every colorway is going to look really good! If it were me, I would have had a picture in photoshop already and edited the look of every option and I still wouldn’t be able to decide

If those ferrules were black, red, black, I don’t know if you would be able to distinguish from the old hogan apex irons. Well, other than the satin finish. They look really good!

As promised…. No more sanding videos. But I did have 20 minutes this afternoon to clean up the shafts. Going to wipe them down and hit them with primer to prevent rusting under the shaft wraps.

@azstu324 this is my .02cents. Silver on the hosel stamping. If you are set on having some copper fill, do it on the club #s. The MGS logo is epic in copper,  but... and hear me out....  Go with a dark graphite or dark grey fill around the MGS logo. It Will keep it dark, but add definition to the logo itself.

Good morning everyone and be sure to say Happy Mother's Day to all the awesome moms that tolerate our golf insanity, especially during a process like this one!  As I asked JB from Toura a question about lofts and bounces the other day, and he replied to see if I had any other questions, I asked him about my irons looking as if they might have been shipped as "polished chrome" and not "pure raw" CB irons.  I got a very unexpected response that I am adding here and also in my main thread (which also now has my "rookie mode" portrait layout videos):

The raw heads are buffed/polished when finished and we then store them in an anti-rusting powder on our end to keep them in perfect condition before they are ordered. So, they should arrive nearly flawless but of course over time you will see them patina. 

As I commented in the "Impressions" area, it's stuff like this that continues to impress the heck out of me from Toura.  Am I hitting them as well out of the box as I was my Taylormade P7MC irons?  Yes and no.  Some clubs I'm hitting really well and others, not even close.  That's an indication I need to spend some time with a pro and a trackman and let them tweak lofts / lies / etc.  There might even be some bounce grinding needs in my future...that's a little radical, but we'll see.  Of course, if I do that, I'd have to add weight back elsewhere, and while tungsten tape does work, it's hard to stomach the thought of that on the backs of these very beautiful irons...so there's some thinking to be done there. 

I will say, the heavy base of the CB on these clubs is very deceptive and even on thin strikes, I was getting great distance and forgiveness yesterday on my PGA Superstore session from the 5 iron.  However, the 6 iron was not being very cooperative.  I have decided that I'm going to be pulling the included Toura grips off this week and putting the Golf Pride ZGRIP Plus2 (standard) grips on them.  After more investigating, I have confirmed the stock Toura grips are for sure custom versions of the Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360 (also Standard) grips.  These are simply too slick for my hands to keep a grip on them when I start to get sweaty in the high heat and humidity here in North Texas.  I will be updating my main post to show that the Toura grips match the GP grips, not the Lamkin Crossline grips, although to be fair, both of those options are almost identical.  I'm including links to Golf Galaxy not as a promotion of them over any other particular retailer, but rather because they seem to be the only ones selling the ZGRIP Plus2s with any reliable amount of stock that I can find.

Maybe more “stealth spy like” - love the copper, but the blacked out spy is what I’m leaning towards.

Paint fill completed. Will be hitting the shafts with primer tomorrow evening as there is rain in the forecast this evening.

Rob, was going to try a few additional ideas, but came down to what stamps were clean and good to use. Unfortunately, many of the letters were too pitted and un-salvageable. I ended up going with my 3rd option of stamping numbers. 
did finish some paint fill this evening and will finish the build when shaft wraps arrive later in the week.

Just received notification that the shaft wraps are coming in hot! Will be delivered later on today. Wish I had time this week to complete the build, but with work travel upcoming Wed - Friday, it's going to be tight. 

Will keep you all posted as to what gets finished.

Absolutely no doubt whatsoever there.  I may not be hitting these quite as well as I was my P7MCs, but I am determined to get them there because by God they look amazing and feel so good.  I'm just not quite there on the performance right now.  I hit some great balls yesterday that should have been right on line that ended up having draw spin.  I watched the swing video in the simulator over and over again and couldn't figure it out.  I took out my MG4 48° wedge and made the same swing and got a nice fade...watched the video...confirmed the swings were in the same plane and face to path data all confirmed to be within a 1/10°.  Not much else explains this unless the head is bent too upright for me by default based on its weighting. 

 

As mentioned in the updates I did for yesterday and today in my main post, I'm doing a "gap analysis lesson" at PGA Superstore Thursday and will get them adjusted and dialied in then...fingers crossed these can become my long-term gamers...
