I think what you're doing so far is great Rob with the mix of Writing, Vids, and Pics. If you're able to get all 3, go for it! There will always be those days where the vids or pics don't happen but that's when the writing part is great.

The golf industry has witnessed the emergence of numerous new brands, each striving to carve out its own niche and distinguish itself. Stix is one such brand, and we are excited to have them participate in MyGolfSpy Forum member testing.

About Stix:

Stix was founded on the premise that good, quality golf clubs should be affordable while still delivering top performance. Their minimalistic design approach is engineered to offer excellent quality, impressive aesthetics, and performance to match.

They provide a variety of options for golfers to enter the game or upgrade their current sets, offering complete sets, drivers and woods, irons, wedges, and putters. The Stix lineup covers the needs of many golfers from top to bottom while maintaining low prices and being much more affordable than larger brands.

The looks so far from the pics have been a little *plain* for me, they don't grab my attention BUT I'm definitely curious to see how these all perform overall for the testers. That's the biggest factor at the end of the day.

They definitely lack that "wow factor" to the eye but I don't really expect a lot of that from a budget friendly boxed set. As long as they perform well, that's the real litmus test.

Lackluster,  yes. The stamping on the head is a bit troubling to me. It is on a spot that is difficult, both to read and viewing angle when in the bag. At least on the black finish.

As for flair,  I agree that as an entry level set, they did not try to be flashy and add a WOW factor to represent their brand.  This to me is not a bad thing. Basic clubs for the Basic golfers might be a good motto?

None of this should however, affect the performance capabilities .  That is still TBD !

@Rob Person I managed to watch your video series, and it is a job well done!

Seeing that the Stix are lighter than what you had, may take a little adjustment to get used to swinging them with the weight difference.

I kind of agree that the club identification on the irons could be a little more visually seen, maybe some paint fill would rectify that, although I do like the plain, black irons, as long as the performance is there too.

I need to talk about the 4hy for a moment. I have never used a hybrid before, and I don't know what it was, but I fell in love with this club! It did not have a very high path, but it put the ball directly where I wanted it to go, and the sound and feel coming off the ball felt pure to me. If I can strike this on the course as well as I did on the range, this would become my goto long range fairway weapon!

Funny, I had this same thought when I first hit the 4 hybrid. Never have hit them well, but this one for some reason seemed so easy.

Golfing for fun.

Agreed. I do like the red color that appears here and there, bur nothing really jumps out. I must say though that personally, they look better in person than the pictures of them on the STIX website.

Day 2 with the stix graphite perform series clubs is in the books.  I was hoping to have at least 3 range sessions to help dial in distances better, but today was a great day on the course.

I played a 9 hole round with my son ( whom doesn't golf) and we had fun.   I also used the stix clubs exclusively.   I was guessing on which clubs to hit for different shots.  The 4hy, the 60⁰, and the putter were today's stars for sure.

Here is a video recap of today.  There were a few holes I was unable to record on though so we could maintain pace.  I debated uploading 8 individual  videos,  but decided to merge them into one instead.  (It's 14 minutes total, from 7 holes)

One thing I did notice was the only time I hit the 9i, ( I had hit a pure shot. )  the face seems very scratched from the ball. it was played from the rough. Mentioned that I. The video too.

Great video Rob, glad you and your son had a great time. Crazy that the 9i ended up like that, the other irons/wedges held up okay besides?

I only looked at the faces 1 time each after I hit them on course once. This was the one that was marked up bad.  I dud check them all after yesterday's range session and none if them looked distressed.

I used to have the Stix wedge set and they all eventually got scuff marks on them similar to the 9i in your photo. I couldn't tell that it affected performance at all though. The only thing that made me upset was that the red paint fill line came off after the first 5 or 6 rounds. Since it was my alignment tool, it really annoyed me that it was chipping (pun intended😆)!

Great video and insight @Rob Person loved the round and especially seeing how much fun you had out there with your son as well! Big fan of this sort of content - makes it relevant to all of us average golfers.

Have to admit, I see your issue on the numbers being tricky to read. The bag looks good though - how are you finding it?

I was finally able to take out the STIX clubs for 9 today. We’ve had some rain recently so not much golf going on.

For the first time using these clubs on course (only one range session in) I was not hitting the ball with them well at all. My ball striking has been improving so this was not what I wanted to see. I could not get control of the driver at all. Errant balls, slices, hitting the ground well before ball, you name it. I think a lot of this did have to do with the regular flex of the shaft. I’ve been putting in a lot of effort with my driver as well and have been seeing my slice less and less, but not today. It may just be a learning curve to different clubs so I’m not drawing any conclusions yet - I’ll be giving these a good go at the range and on course.

A couple of notes I did have though:

1. The bag is too small for my push cart. As you can see, the ties are too large to accommodate this bag and it is not secure. I did end up tying them in a way that held it. Not a huge deal and not a deal breaker, but an annoyance for me with my cart.

2. There is no Velcro strip for your glove. I have had this on my last two bags and have liked it and grown accustom to it. Again, I small inconvenience which may not bother everyone.

3. The dividers are not full length between the pockets. I recently upgraded to a cart bag that has full length dividers for each club. My last “cheap” bag had dividers between the side-by-side pockets, but this bag doesn’t seem to have that (I have three irons in the pockets that are side-by-side and they kept getting tangled and hard to pull out). I had this happen with my old bag but only clubs that were in the same divider.

4. My big take away from the round was that so far I really like the putter. It sounded awesome, felt awesome, and I felt like I could control speed and start it on the right line. I had some really great putts and putting has been one of my weakest parts of my game. This putter could honestly make its way into my bag. I’ll have to hit the practice putting green and put my current putter against this one.

I’ll take a look at and take some pictures of the “damage” to the clubs after the first round. There wasn’t much there from my first range session, but given some of the pictures others have posted here on this subject, I’m interested to see how they held up.

I played one of my worst rounds so far. Again, I’m withholding judgement until I get several more rounds in. I know I had to play several times when I switched to my current gamers, so know there can be a learning curve.

Hopefully I will be able to get out there again tomorrow and get another round under my belt. This weekend, I’ll definitely get some practice at the range as well.

Are your other clubs in stiff flex or did you have an option with the Stix?

Yes, my current clubs are all stiff flex (have one extra stiff). With this specific set (Play club set), there are no customization options and they only come in regular flex. The other set they offer does offer some customization and different flex options.

I asked for the stiff flex on the Compete Driver.

Updates to follow when I get the driver
