Played this morning....had a decent round going....shot a 37 on the front.   THEN my cart started acting up, took off after my tee shot on 10, and the cart was really sluggish.  Didn't want to chance it, turned around and barely made it up the hill to the front.  $1000 to replace.....they are probably about 4-5 years old.  The guy I share my cart with mentioned maybe converting it to lithium.   Sounds like a lot of work and a little spendy.  Anyone convert an old TXT to lithium?  Wondering if we should.

Back out today. Half way round changed my setup a little on the 8th, closing my stance, felt more stable and hitting the ball better. 3 great iron shots on 12, 14 and 15  setting up good birdie chances on 2 of them. Also putting better 27 putts with at least 3 left short when tracking at the hole.

I played the front 9 like it was the first time I swing a golf club.. Started with a bogey (which I'm fine with) and went down hill from there..a beautiful chip in and a par 5 bird helped on the back 9 but couldn't save my score.. That's golf I guess 🤷

So, my cart troubles remain.   My shed partner let me use his cart this morning....so I headed to the back to tack onto yesterdays front 9.   Played pretty well, until I smoked a hybrid over the green on 17 and into the weeds and took a double.  Didn't get up and down on 18 for a 39, so I took a 40.  37-40.   Greens are still a little sandy from the aeration and I needed to do better marking my ball and cleaning it....sand got between my putter and ball a few times.  Its a score.

Posting my round from Week 20, played Sunday 9/8.  Got back late, had to grill dinner, then put the little one to bed.  Fell asleep with him.  Yesterday was sick and was useless.

It felt like a terrible round, but came in second place for this course in both lowest gross and lowest differential.  Still didn't replace the score it kicked off my card, needed three points less have it count.  Just couldn't get my contact consistent enough, and knocked too many balls unfindable.

Still, it's a pretty course and was a great afternoon to be out!

My last round before I head up to Amerika for my Titleist Long Game fitting tomorrow.  My hope was to have a good driving day.  It was fair at best!

image.png.e744cd4c9e17f5b0c6e26aea4445acca.png

My 79% of fairways hit wasn't bad, especially since two of three misses were within 3 feet of being in the fairway.  My driver distance wasn't that great.  My overall performance driving distance was just under 170 yards.  Like I said, not my best.

Greens in regulation was one better than normal, with over 70% being short.  The 26 putts and five up and down for pars were about "normal" for me.

I had a great birdie on the tough eight hole which is all carry over mangroves.  The back I played pretty consistent.  Pared the long 11th hole hitting my pitching wedge within 6 inches of the pin.  I could have shot better on the back, but I think I just ran out of steam.  The heat index was over 108 degrees (which is high for us given we're surrounded by water).

Overall, I was happy with the outcome.  My team won the front as my 12 handicap playing partner shot +1 on the front.  He followed that up by being +10 on the back!

No, you've been doing it right. The score should be gross. After posting scores in 3 separate weeks, a simple handicap is calculated and you are added to a flight I-VI, accordingly.

Good start to my day.  Plunked one up there close on the 1st for a bird.  Bad finish on the front 9. 3 putted 8 and put myself in a bad spot on my drive on 9.  Missed a great opportunity on 11 with about 4 feet for birdie.  Hit some really good long approach shots on 13 and 14 to have a chance at para.  Putting wasn’t good today.

Front 9 was okay, just some errors that led to 2 double bogeys, but I definitely turned it around on the back 9 going +2. Last hole I almost holed out for eagle, but it jumped out of the hole leaving me with a tap in birdie!

Golf season is slowly coming to an end for Canada unfortunately 😞

Absolutely delighted with this score.  Driver working well, but Lab rat (putter) and short game came to my rescue numerous times. The North course was still setup in major tournament mode.  They hosted the Fortinet Cup (PGA Americas) championship and then several PGA tour pros played in a charitable fundraiser the following day.  So the rough was either nasty, where did my ball go or the god help us variety.  The greens were especially quick and three putting the first hole, didn’t help.  But once I adjusted, a challenge, but a treat to play. 3 birdies on the round including a 40 foot how in the heck did that go in putt.  Fortunately, I was smart enough to play from my regular tee blocks (6,000 yds) and not the championship tees, (7,500 yards) otherwise it would have been a very long round.  It’s a way different course from the back tees. Got a sneak preview of how they’ll set it up for next years Canadian Open.

Front 9 I shot a 1 under.

Back 9 was 2 over with 3 bogies and a bird.

Best score in a few months, despite the worst greens I've played in recent memory. Slow (6?), bumpy, and inconsistent. (This course has no sprinkler system, and we're in a drought here.) Smooth greens could have been as much as 5 strokes better, which would have made this a best ever score. I had one somewhat close shot on a par 3 - not my closest ever, but my closest in some time. 164 yards, 7 iron. Missed the putt. 😬 This short putt had more than a foot of break, and lipped out violently on the low side.

Had a unique opportunity today to play a private course located in a residential area of the city of Rochester, MI today.

Unique in that our Corvette club has held a Holiday Party there in the past, and have it scheduled again this year, and the facility asked if we would like to have a foursome play the course as a way of them saying "thanks" to our group for booking a banquet room again this year. 😉

Course was not as tree lined as the regular Metropark course I play, and also a little shorter in length from the gold tees. Par 71 and about 6200 yards from the gold tees we played.

Course was also somewhat scenic seeing how it is surrounded outside of the exterior walls by large scale houses not far from the city downtown area.

Hit 10 of 18 GIR's, with 9 of 14 fairways and 33 putts. The holes where I "missed the green, but one putted" all were balls that were just off green and on the fringe.

And you should be delighted...well done...

No, you've been doing it right. The score should be gross. After posting scores in 3 separate weeks, a simple handicap is calculated and you are added to a flight I-VI, accordingly.

Ok Thanks

Had a really good round today. Made a few simple mistakes on the back and missed a few very makeable putts for birdie.

Front 9 I shot a 1 under.

Back 9 was 2 over with 3 bogies and a bird.

Better get this one in, since the rains are still pretty much every day, over 15 inches since a week ago Tuesday.  Been good for the greens and refilling the ponds, but boy is it sloppy!

Played this evening but couldn't beat my 78 from Monday, came in with a respectable 81. Score pretty much ruined by 3 doubles

  • 4th pull my approach, leaving me with a chip to the left of the greenside bunker, tried to be too cute and ended up in the bunker. Out and 2 putts for a 7
  • 9th drove into fair bunker off the tee, 150 yds in and thought I could make it with a 7i, hit the face and landed in the next fairway bunker, hit the face with my next shot, hit the green in 4 and 2 putts for a 6.
  • 11th hit a greenside bunker, out and 3 putted for a 5.

When I analyse this the first 2 were mental errors, with a little bit of thought and care I should have been at worse bogey or even par. I also highlights how bad I am out of bunkers, I never really practise out of bunkers so maybe that is something else I should look at.
