  2. March Recap For The MyGolfSpy Forum Another month has come and gone and another batch of milestones have been hit. A core part of what I believe in for this community is to be open and transparent with all of you. This is a community of like-minded golfers after all and it takes all of us to make this community what it is. While I may not be able to completely open up everything (testing schedule) I want all of you to be as informed as you can be so you can continue to help us grow and contribute in the ways that are best for you. Posting To give everyone a better idea of the high the forum is on I am going to leave this graph for you all to check out. There a ton of new members here now, but it is worth noting a few things in regards to these numbers. First of all - This graph is number of posts per month from the forums creation back in 2010. No surprise we see a boost in 2019/2020 during the pandemic. The hidden aspect of this is the previous system for registering for a test was the requirement to make a post within the thread. This artificially inflated numbers - imagine all the registrations now being posts. We had a big dip in 2021 into 2022. A number of things attributed to this which is a story for another day. However a portion of this dip is the new testing registration system was introduced as well as for some who remember the reviews were also posted here. It meant that a lot of comments were not counted. Late summer 2022 we had another big change over in staff and the crew that you have today really got to work in making changes and strides to improving the platform we have here. 2023 the forum team started managing and running forum testing and we saw a big jump. So with that said - this month we had 18k plus posts. Two thousand more than any other month ever in the forums history. Thank you! It is truly astonishing to see the level of activity on the forum now and I am even more excited to see how things continue to progress when we get into the meat of the golfing season. New Members Next up is registrations for the forum - same deal by month from start to today. A jump now, but clearly this is more consistent or not... what I can say from my end of looking at things is our baseline or floor has been raised significantly. This part is a whole team effort, from HQ promotions, Forum staff socials and a lot more. We are thrilled to see all the new members joining and participating. For socials it is equally impressive - Hayes and Mark have done a great job leading this project to the tune of near 10k followers and consistent posting. Proud of these guys and proud of what more we can do with this platform that we have. Member Testing We know and recognize that this is a key pillar to our platform here on the forum. However it is also a key for MyGolfSpy as we are a stepping stone to getting various brands involved in the HQ space. This team effort has helped us gain new contacts, new opportunities, but also grow the variety of tests we bring to the forum. We take this responsibility seriously and bottom line is our testers have never had more pressure on them to perform and produce than before. Our expectations for every test is sky high - no matter how big or small the product. Of course you have seen a lot more opportunities so far and that isn't about to stop. At the time of writing this we have April - 7 opportunities May - 8 opportunities June - 6 opportunities July - 5 opportunities August - 3 opportunities September - 1 opportunity There are still spaces to fill, but at least at this time we are putting the brakes on to wait till fill later spots. Still having a lot of conversations, but we are not pushing to fill those spots for a little while. Most companies prefer to go asap. As a rough value we have provided just over $33,000 worth of equipment to our members for testing. Not bad! We will continue to work at getting new members involved, we continue to try and get worldwide testing opportunities for everyone and we continue to try and make them have value to you the community and consumer. Bringing new brands, different ideas and of course some of the most popular items out there. At last look we will be needing close to 300 members for testing this season. Other Features Etc We are still working on a few other projects which will be introduced soon, but in terms of March here are some of the highlights. MGS Forum VCT updates - The whole system is being revamped to make it more inclusive for all. Trophy Room - This is a big part it and we will soon have a Trophy Room for each profile when they are awarded the various Trophies. Community Map - Still TBD on this - if you really truly miss it let us know. We need to gather whether it is worth the investment or not. BST - Back up and running (sorry about that delay). FAQ - Updating to make various sections relevant and adding in new areas to help members. Masters Theme - Up and running! Wrap Up So that is about it for March. Sure I missed a few things along the way, but it was an incredible month. I am very much looking forward to April and see how we progress. Thanks to the forum staff for doing all that you do and working hard to keep this place moving forward. Thank you to the members for making it more active and lively. As always if you have more questions or anything please do not hesitate to reach out! Are you someone who wants to look at taking a small step into an expanded role? Let me know about it in a PM and we can chat about getting you involved in our focus group!

  3. Good morniing Spies on a back to work Monday for me here in Michigan. Cloudy and cool, with a chance of rain most weekdays this week, so hoping to get to the range on Saturday, and a round in on Sunday as both those days look to be sunny and at least 50 degrees. April 1, so not only is it April Fools Day, but I only have 22 Monday - Friday working days left to go. Exciting times, but also chaotic, as with no replacement yet, I still have a lot to do, and want to make sure that I have done all that I could to see them succeed further. Hope your day is the best it possibly can be, and that something enjoyable is in your plans.

  4. Good morning MGS! Got through a pretty rough work weekend, but made it to my off day unscathed! Golf is the plan for today! Hoping for an hour+ of range time, then off to play 18. Been almost 2 weeks since I've played and hoping I can return to my previous new found habits! Back yard practice is great, but no way to read ball flights and heights. Have a great day. Off to catch up on reading 74 notifications!

  6. Good morning everyone. Kind of a slow week in store for a change. Soccer season has started and I’m hooked again into coaching at school. No after school round this spring but still plenty of time to hit the practice green after work. Opportunities to loop are popping up now that both private courses have officially set their opening day as Apr 5. Looking forward to a busy looping season. Hope everyone has a great day ahead!

  7. Good morning MGSpies from a still dark not too cold WNY on this Monday April 1st with a personal countdown of 14 days until my local course is to open for the season Coffee is almost ready and the work computer is going onto the network for another zero commute workday. Great day yesterday with the whole family for dinner + daughter's boyfriend, plenty of sunshine all day, and relaxing peaceful time in the evening. It is good to read about everyone's golf season starting to gain traction. Hope golf is a part of your day! 58

  8. Good morning and happy Monday everyone! Up and at em early this morning by getting a workout in. Starting a new workout plan this week, so I am hoping that I can get into a new routine of keeping myself in better shape. Should be an easy week of work this week as it is only a four day week with students. The school year is quickly counting down, so I've got to make the most of these last 9 or 10 weeks. I'm counting down to all of the golf I will be able to play this summer... can't wait! Let's all have a miraculous Monday!

  11. Good morning everyone! It's a nice morning here with temps in the low 60's and I'm enjoying a cup of coffee getting ready for the work day. I got in an impromptu round yesterday where I played good and didn't score well. I lost four balls and couldn't chip to save my life and still shot a 54. The 4 hybrid was a beast yesterday, but I need to work on not turning it over and having it go left. The putter was the real star of the show, I had 16 putts and feel like it could have been better as I burned the edge on a couple of holes. I hope you all have a wonderful start to your week!

  12. Good Evening All- This is my official 2000th post. To commemorate, I decided to follow along with what several others have done and tell of my journey from beginning to now. Looking at my the date of my first post, I can’t really tell for certain how I found my way here other than to guess it was over Thanksgiving break when I had some time to get lost in the interwebs. I can’t say which article first led me to MGS, or if it was the testing opportunities in the forum. But I can say I was quickly hooked and posting scores in the VCT thread. It wasn’t long before I stumbled across the testing opportunities. After reading the How To Be A Tester thread I updated my profile and also decided to donate to MGS. Soon after that I was chosen to be a tester for the BagBoy Nitron and was officially hooked into everything the forum had to offer. Random posts in scattered topics were quickly replaced with VCT scores and good morning posts. Soon, another chance to improve my testing mettle came about with the Titelist white box ball test. This was super fun and really made me dig deep to find ways to compare two balls head to head. I’ve played rounds before with two balls just to see how one would fare against the other but it was always very passive in terms of data collection. While there were many of us spies granted the chance to be a part of this test, I still took it very seriously and it led me to get a much better idea of how to be creative in my testing methods. 2023 came to an end with an amazing opportunity to be a tester for the Odyssey Ai-One putter. I chose the Milled 7 T CH and quickly fell in love with everything about this thing. Cold weather sadly shut down courses shortly after receiving the putter which led to the vast majority of my testing being done. While this didn’t necessarily prevent me from doing a thorough review, it did present challenges I hadn’t prepared for and once again, pushed me to find creative ways to get testing data to share with fellow spies. In short, I want to thank all of you who have taken the time to engage in conversation and throw subtle jabs back and forth. Looking forward to my Excellent Adventure with @CFreddie and competing in the VCT with all of you. @GolfSpy_BEN, let’s get this ball rolling. I feel an amazing year of golf in front of me! And I’m eager to virtually compete with all of you! Shark Bait Hoo Ha Ha!!!

  13. It’s been 2 months since I have swung a golf club and the surgeon said today was the day I could go back to full activity. Unfortunately, my car is in the shop for annual state inspection and a few other things so no golf today. Was hoping to go to MGS HQ and hit a few balls before actually hitting the course or driving range but my golf league team is short handed and I may need to play tomorrow. To be honest, I am a bit apprehensive about swinging again and wondering if the surgery actually fixed my issue.

  14. Good morning all and happy Monday! Full day of work ahead of me today with the new month, but the good news is that our course is opening for full time play this Friday! Hoping to be able to get out of work a bit early that day to play 9, and then wanting to try and get 18 in on Saturday if possible. Sunday afternoon we have player/parent meetings for little league and my wife has an appointment that day, so looking mostly out of the question. Either way, GOLF SEASON IS BACK BABY!

  16. Good morning spies! Early start for me as I get back to the Monday grind. Into work at 5:00 this morning but that gets me off by 1:30 so I’m hoping to get to the range for a bit of outdoor chipping and putting practice. Have a great day spies.

  17. Good morning! Made it back to MI safely from MO late last night to end our little family vacation. It was VERY difficult to wake up to an alarm this morning for everyone in the house so we got a nice, late start to the morning. Today is going to be a long day to catch up on work things and trying to get things sorted around the house. Have a good day everyone!

  18. Good Morning everyone!! Hope you have a memorable Monday and watch out for Jokesters!! Warming up today with temp in the low 70’s and low 80’s tomorrow; don’t blink though because on Wednesday it will be back in the low 50’s!! Just a teaser. Today is a special day for my wife and I. It’s the anniversary of the day I proposed to her on the 1st tee of the golf course… well, I had to pick a date that I could remember, right?!! She said “Yes", but the next day on the 1st tee she asked if I meant it. On this anniversary we always play golf so we will be teeing off again at 9:28. We got married a year and 3 weeks later, but that’s another story!!!

  20. Good morning spies! Haven't been very active the past few days, me and my Fiancé ended up taking an impromptu trip this past Friday to her families farm here near San Bernardino and will be here for the week. Have just been engulfed in the quiet peace that comes along with the animal noises . I did bring my clubs and will be going to a couple of the local courses while I am here this week and I am excited to see what they have to offer! Besides that, I hope you all have a great Monday and an amazing week!

  22. Good morning all! Had a busy weekend seeing family for Easter and for my son's birthday which was great. He had a nice time seeing everyone and he enjoyed his cake and brownie concoction frosted with homemade maple cream (let me tell you that was some hard work stirring that up). Another day here with some work and maybe taking my son out on his new roller blades from his birthday. Have a great Monday everyone!

  23. Gearing up for golf season, I've been on a buying spree lately. Can't remember what I may have posted but as it comes in I'm going to snap some pictures and update here! First up, I paid for this a while back but it finally made it to me recently! Thursday tickets to The Masters! My third trip to the hallowed grounds with the first two being for Wednesday practice rounds and the Par 3 Tournament. A tournament round will be a first and I'm taking my nephew who turns 10 the day before. Every time I've gone I've thought it was my last time ever and I'm going to treat this one the same way. Can't wait!

  24. Morning all! My kids are DYING to pull any kind of "prank" on me and my wife, and thank god they're only 4 and 8, so I can see most of it coming Not a huge fand of pranks - though the main article on MGS HQ this morning was BRILLIANT. https://mygolfspy.com/news-opinion/masters-gives-talor-gooch-special-invitation/ Also, I made a little video of my kids and my brother and nephew at a place we love by us called Vasquez Rocks (truly incredible rock formations that look super other-worldly). I'm trying to up my filming/editing game, and will be attempting to produce some more content like this (not as "sappy" as this, though - so don't worry, all you hardened men who never cry and say "grrr football" whenever anything sentimental happens ). Give it a look if you have a few minutes (it's about 2:30, so won't take long)

  25. Morning MGS brotherhood, A soggy morn here in SW Ohio and with the forecast later this week dipping into the low 40's for the high with a chance of..ahem..snow on Thursday, I am praying this is a cruel April Fools weather joke. I could handle the lower temps for a spell, but not the snow. Well back to the grind today and knocking out whatever needs knocking. On a golfing related note, I had a superb ball striking session this past Friday, and I made my Masters picks in the app. My wildcard pick is Wyndham Clark. It will be his first Masters appearance hence the wildcard, but Scotty looks poised to pick up another major. We shall see. Have a great day MGS!

  26. Good morning, Spies! I'm in Raleigh again, which is going nuts this morning after both of NC State's basketball teams reached the Final Four. Must be nice... The NHL Hurricanes aren't doing too badly either. It's gonna be another mid-80s day around here. Will try to hit some balls after work, and perhaps a round tomorrow. Congrats @GolfSpy_BEN! Take it easy, @cnosil. Don't want to do too much too soon and create more damage.

  29. Good morning spies! Back to work after a relaxing weekend. The real April Fools joke is this weather we're having! Looking like 40s and rain all week... YUCK. Some good golf on TV yesterday. Really thought Scottie was going to make it 3 wins in a row. Meanwhile Nelly Korda actually did! It's really a shame that the LPGA doesn't get more airtime. Nelly was on the verge of LPGA history and Golf Channel is showing the Champions Tour instead @GolfSpy_BEN best of luck with the new gig! Always exciting starting a new chapter. Hope everyone has a great start of their week and month!

  30. Good morning spies! Well instead of getting ready for the round today I will be on the phone calling doctors. Woke up Saturday morning with a bulging ab on the lower right side and all indications are I have an inguinal hernia. So by this afternoon I will know when I will get repaired. This will be the 4th time in under 18 months I will go under the knife. I am getting tired of falling apart! This means my golf game, which was beginning to soar, is put on hold yet again. Crap...

  31. Morning everyone! Whew was that a busy weekend! I’m almost glad to be back to the normal schedule today with work and going to the gym. No golf today since the course is closed on Monday but I’m feeling good after a lesson on Friday. Need to do some tinkering with my chipping this week but otherwise I like the trajectory I’m on!

  33. Good morning Spies, Up with a cuppa. It’s a cool and cloudy morning in CNY. I have a run workout on tap today. Still waiting for the home course opening email. Easter dinner went well. The ham was amazing. A good time was had. My wife baked a Sherry wine cake. It was a staple for me growing up. It was my Nonni’s recipe. She would send it to me in a care package when I was in the Army. My wife baked one and shipped it to our son when he was in Okinawa. My wife’s recovery is progressing well but she definitely misses not being able to swim. But pools are the worst place for healing wounds. She will take her Tri-bike in for its start of season tune up. My new driver is supposed to deliver on a Thursday according to FedEx. Congratulations to @GolfSpy_BEN on your new job. Hope you have a great first day. (Is that the adult version of first day of school? ) Wishing all a wonderful day!

  36. Good morning los spies! Happy Monday! This morning had some chill in the air and on my way to work the water on my hood (or bonnet in UK talk) froze into a thin film of ice art. I thought it looked neat so I captured it for prosperity. So looking at the weather last night today was supposed to be awesome here in Cheyenne. Well……..April Fools!!!! Snow is now in the forecast. So no golf for me. (The weather man took a line right out of Seinfeld and said it.) Oh well, I’ll just go home after work. Anyway, I hope you all have a blessed day and happy April fools. Happy birdie hunting, Wyo out!

  38. Monday on April 1st… Quite the Double Whammy. Congrats to @GolfSpy_BEN on the new gig. @cnosil may your full swing be easy, sweet, and pure. Work wise have only about four more days in April to have to be at the beck and call of “ Those People “… Should be back to my indentured husband gig to you-know-who; by no later than Wednesday or Thursday of this week. As we all venture forth into the new week in a new month may we all embrace a positive outlook an attitude. In that regard I will just leave this visual aid for all to ponder….

  41. Thanks! The whole thing was shot using the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 that I got right at the end of last year (Merry Christmas to me). The more I use it and get comfortable with it, the more incredible I find it to be. It's an all-in-one camera system, using a 1" sensor (significantly larger than a typical cell phone) and a fixed 20mm lens. I bought the "Creator Combo" which came bundled with a wide-angle (magnetic snap-on - unbelievably cool) lens as well, but I find that 20mm is plenty wide for 99% of everything I need. The things I love about the set-up are many, but the 2" rotating screen is seriously amazing - it was BRIGHT outside when I shot this, and I was able to see it in essentially every scenario (and the one time I couldn't, i just raised my other hand over the screen to be able to help see and it was totally fine). It connects wirelessly and quickly to my iPhone, which means I can control it via that if I wanted to put it on a tripod and do a demo or something. It's a crazy cool piece of tech. The other reason I think it's particularly incredible is that you're able to capture footage (as I did in this one) in 10-bit D-Log M, which if you don't know, is effectively a very flat color profile that allows you to tweak all of your color/saturation/contrast settings later in your editing software. So the original footage of this was all a little washed out (on purpose), and I dropped a LUT on top (that I downloaded from DJI's website, free of charge, mind you) and BAM all the colors totally popped. It's shockingly easy to do - and as someone who'd used LUTs VERY sporadically up to this point, that's saying something. I bought a few extras to make it work better for my needs, including an extendable selfie-stick that has a tripod base, as well as a set of ND filters that I use whenever I'm outside to be able to control my shutter speed - this is all very nerdy talk for saying you can make this thing whatever you want it to be without having to spend thousands of dollars on DLSRs and gimbals. In my (admittedly amateur) opinion, this thing does 99% of what a $3,000 set-up would do at a fraction of the price and size. Big fan, if you couldn't already tell

  42. Top of the pot spies! Another wet day for us in The Valley of the Sun... another daily rainfall record eclipsed yesterday and, after the deluge we got around 0300 this morning, likely another record will be made. My Monday group has opted to take the day off so I'll likely just do some chipping and putting practice later today when the weather clears out. Have a great start to the week and share any "I got punked" April Fool's joke you fell for in tomorrow's post .

  43. Good Monday morning, y'all! A little cool and cloudy here today but still going out for a 9-hole round later. As I’ve mentioned elsewhere, today marks the official start to the posting season in Michigan. I'm interested to see (1) how the new GHIN/USGA system will translate my 9-hole score to an 18-hole score, and (2) how my 2024 stats will end up. Here is my 2023 GHIN rewind: My goals get a little more modest each year. For 2024, I’m aiming to end the year at (or below!) my lowest handicap from last year. Really going to concentrate on course management — limit the “hero” shots, take more club, and aim for the middle of the green. Wish me luck!
