Golfspy_CG2 25,508
Loved reading the reviews guys. In my short time here, having gone back and read a few review threads, i have to say I'm very impressed with the amount of info given, the quality of the pics and real life feedback from guys that are around the same index as me. it makes it easier to relate to than some designated reviewer who is a low single digit that reviews all levels of clubs for all players. cksurfdude 8,014
No ... made perhaps a bit of a mistake... My set only goes up to 6i. Thing was: for past few years I've been playing I could not hit my 5i effectively and even struggled with the 6 sometimes. Much more recently, however, that has completely changed (yea!!!!) and I somewhat regret not adding the 5 (but prob not a 4) to my order... I'd also read some not so flattering reviews of the 5 and up vis a vis the 6 and down, so I sorta balked there. Basically the consensus seemed to be that the lower lofts / "full hollow" tech just didn't have the feel or response of the rest of the set. But on the other hand ... I am very happy with my 5 Ping Crossover and right now the 4 goes to a hybrid. It's possible I may change the 5 to an iron next year if they evolve it somewhat, and get a 4 Crossover (or equivalent). Sorry couldn't offer better direct feedback. 1 Quote WITB of an "aspiring" play-ah ... ..Tour Edge Exotics EXS 3W/HL (17*) and EXS 7W (both Tensei CK Blue) ..Callaway Super Hybrid 23 (PX Catalyst) and Big Bertha 19 5H (Recoil ZTR) ..PXG 0211 6i-GW (Mitsubishi MMT) ..Cleveland CBX2 54 and CBX 60 (both Rotex graphite) ..Evnroll ER5 (33", 385g, P2 Reflex Tour) ..all in a Datrek Hybrid bag on a Bag Boy Quad XL push cart. cksurfdude 8,014
FYI: Have a minor problem with my irons - the ferrule atop the hosel has become separated on each club...! I know it is a non-functional, cosmetic piece but still ... the clubs are only a few months old and used, well, "a bunch" but not abused. Emailed their customer service to report this, but no answer yet. cksurfdude 8,014
Just insert a tiny drop of glue under the ferrule and reseat on shaft........Thanks, did that with a touch of spray adhesive (to help it slide down and be removable later). Wasn't aware this was a common problem on irons (or, is it all clubs?). Oh, and Cobra did respond, though basically boilerplate stuff: Sorry you had a problem, take the clubs to your retailer. fozcycle 11,926
As a footnote, I liked the Cobra F6 50* Gap Wedge so much, that when I got a chance, I ordered the matching Sand Wedge, 2* Flat with Matrix Red Tie regular graphite shaft. I have been using it for several rounds now and can say that it is every bit as solid as the Gap Wedge. In order to accommodate the new wedge, I removed my SCOR wedges (53* & 57*) from the bag, which allowed me to insert the Bonbtech 4 Hybrid(21*). So while I am adjusting my game to 3 wedges, I have an extra long club to use. Has anyone else aquired the Sand Wedge? 1 Quote Driver: Tour Edge Exotics EXS w/Mitsubishi ck Blue regular shaft BACKUP DRIVER: Cobra F8 w/Mitsubishi ck Blue regular shaft Fairways: Cobra King F8 3W(14.5*) & 5W(18.5*) w/Mitsubishi ck Blue regular shaft Hybrids: Tour Edge CBX 119 4H(22*) with Project X Evenflo regular shaft Irons: Wilson Staff D7 5 - PW w/Recoil 460 regular shafts Wedges: Wilson D7 GW(50*) & SW(54*) w/Recoil 460 regular shafts; Cleveland RTX Zipcore(58*) w/True Temper Spinner Wedge steel shaft Putter: 33" Slotline SSi 693 mid mallet Bag: Cobra Ultralite Cart Bag(Peacoat Blue). Joey East Coast 263
I've integrated the 5 iron into my bag over the last few months, although begrudgingly. I've been using it as a rescue club of sorts, punching out low from trouble or the occasional stinger from the tee box. Still had to work a bit of lead tape into the equation to get the results I wanted, but it outed my Srixon U45 once it was all said and done.
