Popular Post MattWillGolf
I had a PXG Black Ops Long Game fitting today. It really brought home the need for fitting. I play a PXG 0311 3 wood. George my fitter who was excellent to work with, adjusted the 3 wood for me then on to the driver. It was a really good session. I ended up with a driver configuration I never would have thought of on my own. The final configuration was the Black Ops 0311 in 8* set to 9*, with a 2023 Mitsubishi Diamana S+ 60g shaft regular flex. The change in shaft showed a noticeable change in performance for dispersion, and distance. The 8* head turned to 9* produced better ball speed, lower spin and lower ball height and was much better than either the 9 or 10.5 degree heads. I will be placing an order later this month. I saw a 20 yard increase in distance compared to my current driver. Trackman was used for the fitting. I’m hoping for even more improvement as this was the first time I’ve really swung the driver since October. But 8 turned to 9 with the PxG adapter would close the face and flatten the lie a little. Lie angle change could effect strike location and a flatter lie will slow the rate of rotation. A closed club face obviously would tend to help close the face. How exactly this affects each person of course can vary. Any adjustment away from the standard is going to flatten the lie angle. This is correct for pxg and I missed the pxg part which is my bad. However it is only because pxg calls their upright position standard and standard “pxg” or flat compared to other adapters. Basically the heads are built to be inherently flatter lie angle to start with. Edit as apparently Ping and Srixon do the same thing. True, with the adapters that just turn they do the same general thing and just depends on if they want to start flatter and move upright or upright and move flatter. Guest-0
On 3/1/2024 at 10:43 AM, Jim Shaw said: Hey Steve, when I was purchasing new equipment this past year I tried driving irons, unfortunately my club head speed didn't get the required distance and height needed for my 3-4 iron carry distances so I went to Ping 430 hybrids. And even since then 5-7-and 9 woods are becoming popular with many golfers to get those distances. In summary, with me anyway, the driving iron wasn't a good option due to my swing speed. Probably a great idea to test all options at a fitting centre before making the decision.. Hope this helps a little bit. Super good advice!!!! Rob Person
I'm seriously looking into a new to me driver. Ive manged to squirrel away a small amount to go towards this.I absolutely can not stand this TM Burner2.0 . I hit my buddy's topflite "bag set" driver better than this one! Looking for the whole driver or even just the head is fine too. 2 things I know for sure. 1.I would like something that allows for adjustment between 9⁰-10.5⁰ 2. Something manufactured from 2016-2021 and not beat to its absolute edge of usefulness. My budget is under $120. (Don't laugh!) I've scoured marketplace, eBay, and several etail retail sites. There is only 2 private golf stores here, and dicks and academy as well. I missed several good opportunities when the MGS classifieds were up and running due to lack of funds. What suggestions would MGS members and their vast experience make for me? Thanks Edited March 5 by Rob Person cksurfdude, MattWillGolf, William P and 1 other 4 Quote WITB-Foremost 551's - 3w, 5w, 5-SW (circa 1998), Top Flite 460cc Driver, Adam's 7w, Warrior GW and 60⁰, Odyssey AI-One DB putter. sp0rtsfan86
Currently trying to get on a deal for golfballs. Not sure what I want to hit, I've loved V1's for years but currently have the Callaways in the bag. I haven't been a fan of Taylormade in the past. Speaking of, they have a testing/range day at my local course so may check out and see what kind of clubs they are making these days. cksurfdude, William P and Rob Person 3 Quote Driver: Epic Flash 12 Degree Wood: GBB 3 Wood Hybrid: Razr 4 hybriid stiff stock shaft.
