JohnnyPenso
I'm 56 and you have to twist my arm to ride in a cart. I'll only do it if I'm playing with buddies that absolutely have to ride in a cart. Golf is a walking sport for me and the walk leaves time for conversation and careful consideration of your next shot. When I'm in a cart, even if the round takes the same amount of time because the course is crowded, it always feels like I'm rushing and I don't enjoy that feeling on a golf course. palvord
I will walk if it's a solo round. I enjoy the added exercise as well as the added time to think my way around the course. If I'm playing with the wife or friends, I ride to ensure the social aspect of the game happens. Lefty78
For the most part, I walk four or five rounds per week, probably will ride a time or two per week when the heat/humidity gets cranked up, too old to fight the heat stress. The only times I've rode was when the knees were bad and leading up to knee surgery but after each of the knee replacements, I was back to walking the course within six weeks of surgery. On the road, I usually ride unless the course has a caddie program. chisag
Here in the SF Bay Area, most of the courses built during the past 30 years were built for riding, including long distances between the greens and tee boxes. The older courses were built with the greens and tee boxes near each other, and those are suitable for walking. ... I found the same thing the 6 weeks I spent in Phoenix. Crazy distances from greens to the next tee box. And even the courses that allowed walkers like Ocotillo had all the holes roped off with no openings for push carts. I tried walking Aka Chin and the paths off the tee boxes were so beat up with deep cracks or heavy sand it was impossible to get my electric cart to the fairway without extreme effort that defeats the purpose of walking. Unfortunately, though, that does not seem to be where the majority of golfing demand is............ I don't get it.... they make the course so it's a challenge to walk...
