Weight Loss Thread

The thing I hate about having to weigh in every day is the illogical fluctuation.

 

I did everything right yesterday, followed my exercise routine to a tee and gained 2 tenths of a pound.

Why do you weigh in everyday, Rev? It's very difficult to continue to try lose weight when you check the scales all the time. Try weighing in once a week on Friday morning or something like that.

Kor, I had the same thought, but I'm guessing that it has to do with the program that Kev is on at the moment.

I weight myself everyday (same time every morning), probably more because I'm OCD vs a program I'm on. I'm down another 1/2 lb over the weekend - which is right on track. More importantly I'm continuing to workout (consistently since Jan 1st) and have ramped up the reps on some of the upper body exercises I'm doing. .Can't wait to see how that transfers to golf.

 

On the down side I haven't been as faithful to my 'yoga for golfers' program - need to get that going consistently.

Took last week off after hurting my shoulder. It's just now starting to bruise but I was able to bike and do a lower body workout. Feels good to continue.

Finally went to the Dr. today. Strained labrum in my join of my shoulder. No lifting for 6 weeks. But hopefully no pain by April and I can get ready for the US Open qualifier.

Lost 3 lbs in a week and half. Not bad, and did it by not even going to the gym.First off I've never smoked.And secondly the last time I had an alcohol beverage was early 2000ish.Cutting the soda out and eating 2 or 3 fruits a day is the key so far

Down about another 2lbs from last week. That puts me at 324. Thinking I might be able to make it under my wedding weight by the time the masters rolls around.

I've not been weighing myself, but my clothes are more loose. The bad thing, the sports coat and my suit no longer fit.

 

I'm jogging an average of 25 miles a week.

Matt was correct I'm required to weigh myself daily. It's a part of the program that I'm in.

 

I'm down 81/2 lbs so I do progress over time.

You are so right on that. It is interesting though. Each week I have days where there is a little bobble here or there, up or down and then I have a bam day.

 

Today was the bam day. 201.4 yesterday morning to 199.0 today. I had a sinus infection this weekend and my trainer, who is an RN, explained that an infection will cause you to retain water so I should experience a significant drop once that cleared up. :)

Okay here's where I hate weighing in every day. I knew when I weighed myself yesterday that the weight was wrong, too low.

 

The day I got on the scale and it was nearly 2lbs more than yesterday. Couldn't be, I did cheat by having a corned beef sandwich but everything else was good and I did 7 plus miles on the stationary bike. No beer even for St Patty's day - a first!

 

So I reweighed myself after my shower and I was nearly a pound less than the first weigh in. I buy that weight and not yesterdays.

 

At any rate my cloths are fitting better. I'm a full notch down on the belt and approaching the next notch.

 

So I feel pretty good.

 

Still a long way to go. The online support group that I'm in isn't much help. Lots of crickets. But our trainer is the bomb. She always has good, thoughtful answers.

As for myself, down 1.5lbs from last week...at last! I know what I did to achieve that so I'll be living that now.

One of my Docs years ago told me to not weigh yourself everyday. The body fluctuates with what, when you eat, water, coffee etc.. he told me to weigh in once a week same time preferably morning B4 eating, drinking anything.

I am down 10 lbs since Jan......and now starting the burn.....I traded in some Mizuno jpx800 irons on a stationary recumbent bike and have started to burn calories. My goal is to crank out from 25 minutes to one hour up to 5 times a week. As a former bicycling enthusiast(fancy jargon for amateur racer) I embrace the cycling. With a very bad ankle this should help me get stronger. Losing 35 lbs will also reduce some of the

stress on my ankles.

 

Anybody else hav3 a stationary recumbent bike?

I am down 10 lbs since Jan......and now starting the burn.....I traded in some Mizuno jpx800 irons on a stationary recumbent bike and have started to burn calories. My goal is to crank out from 25 minutes to one hour up to 5 times a week. As a former bicycling enthusiast(fancy jargon for amateur racer) I embrace the cycling. With a very bad ankle this should help me get stronger. Losing 35 lbs will also reduce some of the

Jumping in late but I was 278 Feb 28th and Im 265 this morning. Logging everything I eat and currently no alcohol and limit myself to a diet soda or two a week. No sweets and I pack lunch everyday at work even though I can eat for free...which is one reason I got to 278. Im doing cardio most days as well as weight lifting. My long goal is 215 but Im looking to be in the 240s by June 8th for daughters graduation. I have been doing 1500 calories a day on no workout days and go to 2000 on heavier days.
