News Flash: Golf isn't dead!

At least where I live.... .. .

 

Yesterday my home course was jam packed. The weather has very nice with temps in the low 80's and a light breeze of 5-10 mph. Everyone and his beard were out there flailing at it. Seemed every demographic was represented too. On the practice tee I met a nice old gentleman and his buds. They were in early 80's! Good for them. Next up I saw a couple of groups of women only and they were all walking with carts. And get this.... I saw quite a few millennial long beards out there swatting at it and drinking beer. Gotta love these guys.... they weren't wearing anything close to typical golf clothing and their game from what I could see looked horrible. They were having a great time I think by seeing how far they could pump one over into the next fairway. LOL. Then there were the parents out with their kids of various ages. Loved seeing that. There were also quite a few young guys that I thought probably played regularly and had a game of some sort. These guys were very fashionable with the latest clothing, bags ,etc. They looked like TV tour pros!  Our little golf course is old and compact. If you don't drive the ball reasonable straight you're over the trees into the next fairway. I observed most of this as we progressed through the back 9 and the course was becoming more packed. There were balls, carts, and golfers all over the place. Up by the clubhouse it was jammed with people loading up their bags, making the turn, filling ice chests with brew or eating lunch on the patio. I'd never even seen most of these people before. Lucky for us we'd gotten off the 1st tee earlier in the morning before the dam broke.
