bens197
My grandpa built me my first set of Golfsmith irons with TT Lite green shafts at age 7. I’m turning 39 next month and love it just as much today as I did when I first began to play. I’ve worked nearly every job in the golf business and played competitively in college and as a professional. I could stop playing today and be satisfied with every opportunity golf has given me. tony@CIC
Why did you start and why did you wait so long? I thought I was late to the party. My wife and I were pretty active sailors - we would typically take 4-6 weeks every summer and sail the Great Lakes. Plus racing every Sunday. Sailing and golf compete for the season/weather. Then about 8 years ago we decided to sell our sailboat since we just weren't using it as much and had already moved to the Lake. Prior to taking up golf I had a pretty simplistic view of the game - I never understood how complex it was or the strategy involved. Since then I've become obsessive about it. Camille Bissarro
I started at the Willimantic Country Club (I think it has a different name now) in 1985 at ~10 years old. But owing to an overabundance of teen angst gave it up around 1991. I started playing again in 2015, so I'd say I've been playing about eleven years now all told. tony@CIC
Yup small world. We started sailing when we lived in Chicago. Sailed out of Burham Harbor. Lots of sail racing still goes on here. But in terms of use/activity we now golf a lot more than then we could ever sail. Plus we also enjoy OPB (other people's boats for you non boaters). We live on Catawba Island adjacent to Catawba Island Club. deauxrite
I started at the Lighted Nine golf course and driving range in 1960 at the ripe old age of 10. Picked balls by hand on the driving range in exchange for golf privileges and a penny a ball. My dad cut some of his old clubs down for me and showed me how to hold the club..go get em tiger. I guess that means that I have been playing for 60 years..minus a couple of tours in places where they either did not have golf courses or I did not have clubs. Like one of the other posters..I am satisfied with my game and the opportunities that golf has provided. I might add that many golfing partners have come and gone..but none of them is forgotten and they are all appreciated. CarlH
It was somewhere in my 30s when I bought a set of clubs and played "some" golf, but not much. When I retired from the service at age 38, I found the passion to play and began regularly. I'm 68 now, so playing the game for 30 years, but fiddled around with it for more like 35. tony@CIC 1 Quote Driver: Rogue ST Max (10.5* set at -1 and neutral) -- Mitsubishi Tensai Blue 55g R shaft Fairway: Rogue ST Max 3 wood (16.5*) and Heaven Wood (20*)-- Tensai Blue 55g R shaft Hybrids: Rogue ST Max 5H (23*)--Tensai Blue 55g R shaft Irons: Apex CF19 6-9, PW, AW -- KBS Tour Graphite TGI 70 shafts R +1/2 inch 3* upright Wedges: Edison 53* and 57* KBS PGI 80 Graphite +1/2 inch 2* upright Putter: L.A.B.
